Welcome to Smogon! Take a moment to read the Introduction to Smogon for a run-down on everything Smogon, and make sure you take some time to read the global rules.
I have to agree. Venusaur is fantastic and if you manage to get a Growth off (not hard vs Moonblast-only Clef, Toxapex, Ferrothorn, Seismitoad) it can rip through teams. It has perfect coverage to destroy the common OU defensive backbone (Seismitoad+Corviknight+Sylveon/Clefable) with Giga Drain...
Interestingly, I threw together a nearly identical team. I had Sub Aegislash over Dragapult, Rocks on Clefable over CM, and Gastrodon over Seismitoad. I also used the Sub+NP Hydreigon set, too.
I believe this is the case. I don’t think you have to be online though when you invite people to the raid, at least I wasn’t when I was resetting for G-max Charizard. Just be sure to have auto-save off and text speed set to slow when working to get that purple beam.
I recently completed a Sword play through (after initially completing it on Shield). I had a better idea of team compositions this go around to make the game a little bit easier as well as a clearer understanding of when and where certain Pokemon would be available to catch.

Question about hidden abilities and max raids.
Yesterday I decided I want a Gigantamax Charizard, so I found the right den in Lake of Outrage and did the reset trick until I got the pink beam and then rolled forward the days until it spawned (about 45 days). Success!
There's a few HA Pokemon I...
I think I'm gonna pick up Sword soon for a second playthrough and go with this team:
1) Cinderace
2) Mamoswine
3) Sirfetch'd
4) Gyarados
5) Bisharp
6) Flapple
Gives me STAB supereffective coverage versus every type and it uses some of my favorites.
Cinderace: Bug, Grass, Ice, Steel
Mamoswine...
Our teams were surprisingly similar. For my first playthrough I always try to use new Pokemon only and have STAB super-effective moves for nearly every type.
Rillaboom: I concur, fantastic. Knock Off, Bulldoze, Drum Beating and Brick Break gave it some great coverage options
Toxitricity: Great...
I've actually since changed up my planned team. It's similar but has some better coverage and uses more Pokemon I'm excited about:
Rillaboom
Charizard
Rapidash
Sandaconda
Toxitricity
Polteaguist
I'm thinking:
Rillaboom (Grass)
Barraskewda (Water)
Charizard (Fire) (also a good option for the new battle mechanics)
Sandaconda (Ground)
Galarian Rapidash (Psychic/Fairy)
Corviknight (Steel/Flying)
I feel like that gives me pretty decent coverage and uses mostly new Pokemon/mechanics. I...
Charizard @ Charizardite X
Ability: Blaze / Tough Claws
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Speed
Jolly Nature
- Outrage
- Flare Blitz
- Earthquake
- Roost
3 attacks Mega Charizard X is a threat to this core as it can OHKO Ferrothorn with Flare Blitz and OHKO Mega Latias with Outrage (STABs). Obviously...
