Ubers Dugtrio

[OVERVIEW]

Dugtrio's ability Arena Trap combined with its Ground typing gives it a solid niche in Ubers as a capable trapper that can remove threats such as Primal Groudon, Toxapex, and Magearna, making it a great partner for sweepers such as Xerneas, which requires these Pokemon eliminated to win. Dugtrio can effectively utilize Tectonic Rage to secure OHKOs on Pokemon it otherwise couldn't, like Primal Groudon and Toxapex. Its presence on the battlefield forces the opponent to play differently, as one good double switch by you could put them at a serious disadvantage. However, Dugtrio provides no defensive utility to a team, and it is a very one-dimensional Pokemon, with its only role being a trapper. Unless you need Dugtrio for its trapping abilities, Arceus-Ground is always a better choice, as it's much bulkier, faster, and stronger and has a better movepool.

Moves
========

Combined with Groundium Z, Earthquake allows Dugtrio to remove certain Pokemon such as Primal Groudon and Tyranitar after they have been trapped. Since Earthquake is the only move Dugtrio really needs to accomplish its job, the rest of the moves are used to allow Dugtrio to contribute to the team as much as possible once it is useless. Toxic can cripple certain Pokemon that Dugtrio struggles against, such as Yveltal and defensive Mega Salamence. Memento lowers the foe's Special Attack and Attack by two stages, giving setup opportunities to common Dugtrio partners such as Xerneas. Stealth Rock is a last-ditch option when you need to sacrifice Dugtrio but want to set up Stealth Rock before it faints, and no other moves are really worth running on Dugtrio anyway.

Set Details
========

A standard offensive spread of maximum Attack and Speed allows Dugtrio to hit as hard and as fast as possible. An Adamant nature over Jolly is preferred because without it, Dugtrio's Tectonic Rage is not a guaranteed OHKO on Primal Groudon. A Jolly nature is still viable because Dugtrio can trap and remove Jolly Mega Lucario and Mega Metagross with Earthquake, as it survives Bullet Punch from both after Stealth Rock, but you need a little bit of chip damage on Primal Groudon to guarantee the OHKO with Tectonic Rage. Arena Trap is the only viable ability on Dugtrio and allows it to trap and remove threats such as Primal Groudon and Magearna.

Usage Tips
========

Dugtrio will be OHKOed by basically anything in the Ubers metagame, so don't hard switch Dugtrio into any attacks unless it's useless and you need to sacrifice something less valuable. Dugtrio should be brought in right after a teammate faints to a Primal Groudon or Magearna to trap and remove it. Note it shouldn't be switched directly into either, except on Magearna's Volt Switch, which Magearna probably wouldn't go for with Dugtrio on your team anyway. If Dugtrio is Jolly, you're going to need chip damage on Pokemon such as Primal Groudon and Toxapex before Dugtrio can reliably trap and OHKO them. A partner such as Xerneas or Primal Kyogre can easily achieve this. Risky double switches could be made when your opponent has a Xerneas counter such as Magearna on obvious switches, although this is pretty risky, and you could just trap and remove it after one of your Pokemon gets KOed by it. If Dugtrio's useless, it can use Toxic against support Arceus formes such as Arceus-Water and Arceus-Fairy.

Team Options
========

Dugtrio should only be used on teams that particularly appreciate its trapping capabilities. Offensive teams that require Pokemon such as Primal Groudon, Toxapex, and Magearna being eliminated to win are the kinds of teams Dugtrio fits the best on, as you're better off using Arceus-Ground otherwise. Any Xerneas set is the best Dugtrio partner in the Ubers metagame. Dugtrio traps and removes common Xerneas checks, such as Primal Groudon and Magearna, which Xerneas struggles to break past. Trapping and removing these Pokemon can open up a lot of opportunities for Xerneas to sweep. Primal Kyogre is also a very good Dugtrio teammate because it really appreciates Dugtrio's ability to trap and OHKO or heavily damage Primal Groudon so it can't deal with Primal Kyogre later in the match. With Dugtrio on your team, Primal Groudon will be a lot more hesitant to switch into Primal Kyogre in fear of a double switch. Similarly, Arceus-Water is a good partner, as it appreciates Dugtrio's ability to trap and remove Pokemon such as Zekrom and is the most common Arceus forme you will pair Dugtrio with on a bulky offensive team. Marshadow is another really good Dugtrio partner because Dugtrio traps and eliminates Toxapex, which is commonly used to deal with Marshadow.

It should be noted that Dugtrio has no way of dealing with common Flying-types such as Yveltal, Ho-Oh, Celesteela, and Mega Salamence. Specially defensive Magearna is pretty good at dealing with Yveltal, although it dislikes the rare Heat Wave. Refresh or Facade Mega Salamence is good at dealing with Ho-Oh, as is Zygarde-C. Zekrom uses Celesteela as setup fodder for Hone Claws, as it resists Flamethrower and Heavy Slam and threatens an OHKO with Bolt Strike. Arceus-Rock is one of the most offensive Mega Salamence checks and therefore can fit on the kinds of teams Dugtrio is found on. Yveltal is also a solid partner for Dugtrio because it can bait in Pokemon such as Magearna and Tyranitar with U-turn, which are commonly used to check Yveltal.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Dugtrio has a couple of other options it can utilize, but most of them aren't worth running on a set because Dugtrio only really needs one move to accomplish its niche. Screech can aid in Dugtrio's ability to trap Chansey. Stone Edge could be used to hit Flying-types, although Dugtrio's rather low Attack stat means that it can't even deal much damage to Pokemon such as Mega Salamence and Yveltal. The only Flying-type it really hits for much damage is Ho-Oh. Sucker Punch can get damage off on common Ghost-types such as Mega Gengar and Choice Scarf Lunala before they outspeed and KO Dugtrio. Focus Sash allows Dugtrio to survive any one hit, but then it's reliant on entry hazard control and can't OHKO Primal Groudon or any of Dugtrio's other targets.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Flying-types**: Dugtrio can't really damage Flying-types such as Yveltal, Mega Salamence, and Ho-Oh, as the only attacking move it usually carries is Earthquake. In return, all three can KO Dugtrio with a STAB move. None of these Pokemon appreciate Toxic, however.

**Physically Defensive Walls**: Physically defensive walls such as support Arceus formes, Mega Sableye, and Rest Primal Kyogre are annoying for Dugtrio to face. Support Arceus formes do not enjoy taking Toxic, but they can all OHKO Dugtrio with a STAB attack or Ice Beam. Mega Sableye bounces back both Toxic and Stealth Rock and can recover off any damage taken from Tectonic Rage. Rest Primal Kyogre can Rest off Toxic poison and OHKO Dugtrio with Scald.

**Faster Attackers**: Faster attackers such as Darkrai, Marshadow, Mega Gengar, and Choice Scarf Xerneas are examples of Pokemon faster than Dugtrio that can OHKO it because of Dugtrio's pathetic defenses. It is worth noting that Mega Gengar dislikes the rare Sucker Punch.

**Priority Users**: Priority users such as Deoxys-A, Mega Lucario, Rayquaza, and Arceus can remove Dugtrio. Deoxys-A bypasses the rare Sucker Punch with Extreme Speed and KOes Dugtrio. Mega Lucario can only guarantee the OHKO on Dugtrio with Bullet Punch if it's Adamant and a layer of Spikes is up, although the chance to KO Dugtrio with Bullet Punch is favorable after Stealth Rock. Rayquaza and Arceus both KO Dugtrio with Extreme Speed.

Not QC, just dropping some suggestions:

"If Dugtrio's usefulness has been used, or if it's useless, Dugtrio can Toxic support Arceus forms such as Arceus-Water and Arceus-Fairy."
I'd put this in usage tips rather than team options, or elaborate on which pokemon would appreciate it.
In c&c I'd maybe also mention Levitate users like Bronzong and Giratina-O alongside Flying types.

Primal Kyogre (and even choiced variants of non-Primal Kyogre) should be in Team Options. Pretty much all of Kyogre's checks/soft checks are grounded.

Considering Dugtrio's only purpose is to trap, and it requires chip damage on some Pokemon to reliably trap them, Usage Tips should note how much is needed on said Pokemon in order to take them out.

Remove CB/LO from OO - this would never see use.

Mention Mega Scizor as a teammate, it can use U-turn to bait in Primal Groudon/Toxapex so Dugtrio can get it without risk

In addition to Mega Scizor, please add Arceus-Water and Yveltal as partners. The former is the most common Arc you'll pair with this Pokemon on a BO, and the later can offer U-turn and has good offensive synergy in general.

Implement these and write up, and I'll stamp.

I made a tiny edit of removing Mega Scizor's note in the Overview as a sweeper alongside Xerneas, as it's not Scizor's primary role on a team.

Otherwise this is uploaded!
