Overview
  • Mega Gardevoir has a massive 165 base Special Attack stat and Pixilate, making its Hyper Beams atrociously powerful.
  • Furthermore, Mega Gardevoir is one of the most reliable Kyurem-B checks available and beats other top-tier Pokemon such as Mega Gyarados and Donphan.
  • It also possesses great utility options such as Will-O-Wisp, Calm Mind and Taunt which allow it to beat Pokemon that it can't brute through.
  • Mega Gardevoir has a crippling weakness to Steel, leaving it completely helpless against Pokemon like Mega Metagross, Magearna and Mega Mawile.
  • Mega Gardevoir also has horrible physical bulk, forcing it to invest extremely heavily into its Defense or end up getting OHKOd by attacks like Choice Scarf Kyurem-Bs Iron Head.

Bulky Attacker
Gardevoir-Mega @ Gardevoirite
Ability: Trace
EVs: 56 HP / 236 Def / 216 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hyper Beam
- Will-O-Wisp
- Hyper Voice / Uproar
- Calm Mind

Moves
  • Hyper Beam is a must-have as it hits ridiculously hard when boosted by STAB and Pixilate.
  • Will-O-Wisp deals chip damage at the end of the turn and cuts the foe's Attack, allowing Mega Gardevoir to take on Pokemon like Donphan and Dragonite by breaking their abilities and surviving anything they can throw back.
  • Hyper Voice is a useful move that goes through Substitute, which the opponent may try to use when predicting a Hyper Beam.
  • Uproar is an alternative to Hyper Voice that prevents sleep and thus puts a stop to Jumpluff, Rest Mega Slowbro and various Yawn users, but prevents you from switching moves.
  • Calm Mind boosts Mega Gardevoirs Special Attack and Special Defense by 1 stage, allowing it to tank hits from Pokemon like Primarina and Meloetta before OHKOing back with Hyper Beam.

Set Details
  • 56 HP and 236 Defense EVs allows Mega Gardevoir to stomache Choice Scarf Kyurem-Bs Iron head as well as various other physical hits,
  • while 216 Speed EVs with a Timid nature outspeeds Kyurem-B.
  • Trace allows Gardevoir to copy useful abilities like Intimidate, improving its matchup against Mega Gyarados and Landorus-T.
  • Pixilate makes Normal type moves into the Fairy type and boosts their power by 1.2 times allowing Mega Gardevoir to access powerful STAB attacks.

Usage Tips
  • When facing Mega Gyarados, Dragonite, Donphan or Golem, be sure to use Will-O-Wisp immediately.
  • Against Primarina, Meloetta or Tapu Fini, use Calm Mind to survive an attack before retaliating with Hyper Beam.
  • When pitted against Pokemon that you can OHKO using Hyper Voice or Uproar, avoid using Hyper Beam so as to avoid missing or being stopped cold by a Substitute.
  • If your opponent has a Donphan or Golem and it appears that your team autoloses to them, then you should generally pick Mega Gardevoir so as to surprise them with a bulky Will-O-Wisp.

Team Options
  • Pokemon that can handle Steel types such as Mega Charizard X or Y or Garchomp are a must as Mega Gardevoir cannot handle them in any capacity.
  • If you want Gardeovir to act as a lure, be sure to make it appear as though your team autoloses to Donphan, Golem, Primarina and/or Meloetta.
  • Mega Charizard X and Y also both counter this set, so be sure to have a Charizard counter such as Donphan or Waterium Tapu Fini.
  • Pokemon that appreciate having a Kyurem-B counter like Donphan, Landorus-T and Greninja make for good partners as Mega Gardevoir can provide for them in that manner.
  • Golem in particular can beat most Steel type Pokemon and Mega Charizard X and Y, loses to Donphan and Primarina, and appreciates having a Kyurem-B deterrent.
