Hey all!

It was recently pointed out to us that a number of Older CaPs are without Dex entries in their Final Product threads or elsewhere. After speaking to the other mods, we have decided to run those threads now, as soon as possible, in order to get them all out of the way before we start to gear up for our first Gen 7 CaP. Six older Pokemon are without them (to my knowledge), so we will give these fairly short submission deadlines and submission timeframes.

First up on the docket, as it was first completed, is Arghonaut. We are going to be doing these in the style of Diamond/Pearl and Platinum dex entries. There weren't the stringent qualifying checks as there are now and we will be running with the new rules. Fun fact: We didn't actually use these rules for the first time until Malaconda. Yep.

You can read about Arghonaut here: http://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/cap-6-final-product.50046/

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Legal Pokedex submissions must meet the following standards
  • Pokedex Entries must have flawless grammar. Smogon has a Grammar & Prose team that will help identify mistakes.
  • Pokedex Entries cannot be longer than 25 words.
  • Pokedex Entries can only contain the following characters:
    • Letters A-Z
    • Numbers 0-9
    • Dash (-)
    • Apostrophe (')
    • Period (.)
    • Comma (,)
    • Colon (:)
    • Semi-colon (;)
    • Space
Work In Progress (WIP) Pokedex Entries can be posted at any time for comments from the community.
No more than three WIP Pokedex Entries can be posted by any individual person through the entire course of the submission thread. This limit applies to ALL posts made by a single person, even if previous posts are edited or deleted. This limit is intended to curb the tendency for some submitters to spam the thread repeatedly with multiple Pokedex Entries. This detracts from other submissions and makes it difficult for commenters to survey the submission thread.
Do not bump your WIP Pokedex Entries by posting them repeatedly, or making minor wording changes. Bumping will result in the disqualification of all Pokedex Entries by the offender. Editing or deleting bump posts will not prevent disqualification.
Only ONE Final Submission can be made per person.
Pokedex Entry Final Submissions can only be posted after a CAP Moderator posts in the thread that final submissions are open. Any final submission posted prior to the Moderator notification post, will disqualify the submitter from the poll entirely. Even if the offending post is edited later or deleted, the submitter will still be disqualified for the remainder of the thread. This ensures that all submitters have equal opportunity to post final submissions without anyone unfairly "jumping the gun".
Pokedex entries Final Submissions must posted exactly in the following format and in the following exact order:
  • The first line of the post must have the words "Final Submission" in bold on it's own line. No other text may be included before the bold heading.
  • A blank line
  • "<Pokemon Name>, the <Species Name> Pokemon", with the Pokemon name and the Species Name in bold
  • A blank line
  • The Diamond Pokedex Entry submission. Start with the word "Diamond" in bold, then a colon (:), and then the Pokedex entry.
  • A blank line
  • The Pearl Pokedex Entry submission. Start with the word "Pearl" in bold, then a colon (:), and then the Pokedex entry.
  • A blank line
  • The Platinum Pokedex Entry Submission. Start with the word "Platinum" in bold, then a colol (:), and then the Pokedex entry.
Below the Final Submission you can post other comments, explanations, etc.
Example final submission:
Final Submission
Kricketune, the Cricket Pokémon
Diamond: It crosses its knifelike arms in front of its chest when it cries. It can compose melodies ad lib.
Pearl: It signals its emotions with its melodies. Scientists are studying these melodic patterns.
Platinum: There is a village that hosts a contest based on the amazingly variable cries of this Pokémon.
Any Final Submission that does not follow the proper format will be disqualified.
I'll probably have this open for 2 or 3 days but I will post a 24 hour warning when you need to Final Submit. Do NOT Final Submit before this time. Let me know if you spot any mistakes!
Have fun!
Arghonaut
, the Pirate Pokemon
Diamond: Only one ARGHONAUT will be found per ship. Many believe that it prevents any of its PRIVATYKE crew from evolving.
Pearl: Many opponents find it difficult to adapt to ARGHONAUT's strategies. One attack strikes the opponent before it move; the next will be a brutal counterattack.
Platinum: ARGHONAUT is a very noble fighter, taking all opponents. At times, it doesn't even notice how strong its enemies' hits are.
The Diamond entry refers to Arghonaut's evolution line, the Pearl entry refers to how Arghonaut has access to Aqua Jet (a move with +1 priority) and Circle Throw (a move with negative priority), and the Platinum entry refers to Unaware.
Okay guys!
You can now Final Submit your dex entries! Some are looking really interesting so far!
Final Submission
Arghonaut,
the Territorial Pokemon
Diamond: ARGHONAUT relentlessly attack ships passing through their territory, paying no heed to their opponent's strength. None of those ships are ever found again.
Pearl: ARGHONAUT are known to be fond of gold. They often hunt MAREEP just because their fleeces have a golden tinge.
Platinum: The mannerisms of ARGHONAUT differ greatly from region to region. While most care for their crew, some don't hesitate to stab them in the back.
Explanation: In the Diamond entry, I mostly stressed on the territorial features of Arghonaut, and referenced the ability 'Unaware', while in the Pearl entry, I referenced 'Jason and the Argonauts', in which they search for the golden fleece. Mareep's wool also looked quite golden in their 4th generation sprites. In Platinum, I expanded even more upon the pirate-like features of Arghonaut. The Pokemon names are capitalized, because it was done so in the DPPt Pokedex.
Comments (and grammatical corrections if any), are welcome.
Arghonaut
, the Swashbuckler Pokémon
Diamond: ARGHONAUTS rarely travel without a crew of PRIVATYKE and other seafaring Pokémon as a pirating crew.
Pearl:
ARGHONAUTS are a menace to any seafaring vessel, known to plunder the ships for any valuables.
Platinum:
If one manages to find the lair of an ARGHONAUT, they will find the hoard of plunder that lies within.
Final Submission
Arghonaut
, the Pirate Pokemon
Diamond: With a large blade in one tentacle and a hook in the other and a pair of gloves to spare, fighting against a ARGHONAUT can prove to be quite the challenge.
Pearl: There's no bigger satisfaction for a ARGHONAUT and its crew of PRIVATYKE as raiding unsuspecting ships in the wide ocean, stealing every inch of valuables and supply. However, they can be pretty oblivious to the damage there ship tends to sustain during said raids...
Platinum: An old tail from Sunyshore city told for generations says how if one where to venture into the darkness and perils of the deep blue and find a ARGHONAUT's lair, they will never have to worry about anything for the rest of there lives.
Final Submission
Arghonaut, the Pirate Pokémon
Diamond: They are mortal enemies of CLOYSTER, as the ARGHONAUT frequently battle them in an attempt to hoard the largest black pearl for themselves.
Pearl: Rumours of it capturing WARTORTLE and riding them across the ocean are thought to be greatly exaggerated by weary sailors.
Platinum: When captured, ARGHONAUT is frequently shown to have an attraction to shiny things, and should be frequently placated with gifts lest it becomes mutinous.
Explanation; As if it's not obvious, this is directly a reference to Pirates of the Caribbean; considering that Arghonaut was extremely weak in the meta, and "without a doubt, the worst pirate you have ever heard of", it seems vaguely appropriate as well.
I don't think you can mention Carracosta, as that is a Gen V pokemon, and this entries are for DPPt. Still, nice Pirates of the Caribbean reference.
Ah, am I able to change a Final Submission, or does it have to remain unedited? I can place Wartortle in its place alternatively.
