[OVERVIEW]

+Charizard comes with a built-in coin flip. An opponent facing Charizard in team preview will have to predict whether it holds a Charizardite X or a Charizardite Y.

Mega X:
+Mega Charizard X can fill in multiple roles on offensive or balanced teams as a Dragon Dance sweeper or as a sturdy physical tank.
+A great ability in Tough Claws powers up its physical STAB moves.
+Excellent neutral coverage among its STAB moves.
+A decent physical movepool allow Mega Charizard X run coverage moves like Earthquake to lure in certain threats, but its STAB Combination is terrifying enough on its own.
+Its access to Dragon Dance, Swords Dance, and Tailwind lets it set up in multiple different ways.

Mega Y:
+Mega Charizard Y will dent anything it hits aside from dedicated Special walls, and very few Pokemon resist its coverage.
+Drought powers up Mega Charizard Y's STAB moves and its best coverage move, Solar Beam, weakens its water weakness, and sets up sun for its teammates if needed.
+Great coverage options in Earthquake and Focus Blast

-However, Charizard and Mega Charizard Y come with a crippling 4x weakness to Stealth Rock. While Mega Charizard X's type change helps to mitigate this problem, a 2x Stealth Rock weakness still cuts into Mega Charizard's bulk, and it has to deal with the 4x weakness in base forme.
-Even with ways to boost their speed, Mega Charizard X and Mega Charizard Y reside in the crowded 100 base speed tier, meaning they can be outsped and KOed easily.

Moves
========

-Dragon Dance turns Mega Charizard X into a fearsome sweeper.
-Flare Blitz is Charizard's preferred STAB move, as it gain a large boost in power from Tough Claws. It severely damages any Pokemon that doesn't switch in, and, unboosted, it OHKOes Aurumoth and 2HKOes Clefable and Tomohawk.
-Fire Punch is a good alternative Fire-type STAB move that doesn't cause recoil damage, but the power drop is severe.
-Dragon Claw is a reliable secondary STAB move that has no drawbacks. Unboosted, it 2HKOes Cyclohm and Tank Garchomp.
-Outrage is as powerful as Flare Blitz, but it locks Mega Charizard X into using it and confuses it, effects much worse than recoil damage.
-It is recommended that Mega Charizard runs at least one of Flare Blitz and Outrage, as its other two STAB moves are too weak together to be effective.
-Roost lets Mega Charizard X heal off Stealth Rock damage taken in base form and Flare Blitz recoil damage.
-Earthquake is a good coverage move that OHKOes Heatran, Mega Crucibelle, Mollux, and Plasmanta, and it is Mega Charizard X's best option against Heatproof Naviathan, which is just shy of a 2HKO. However, Mega Charizard X has to give up one of its STAB moves or Roost to use it.

Set Details
========

-252 Speed EVs and a Jolly nature let Mega Charizard speed tie with other maximum speed and positively natured base 100s like Manaphy, Mega Medicham, and Mega Gardevoir as well Aurumoth.
-252 Attack EVs let Mega Charizard X hit as hard as possible.
-An Adamant nature can be used, but it allows Aurumoth to outspeed it.
-Tough Claws allows Mega Charizard X to hit much harder with its STAB moves.
-Blaze is used over Solar Power in the rare chance that Charizard has to switch into sun, as Solar Power would cause Charizard to needlessly take an eighth of its health.

Usage Tips
========

-Mega Charizard X functions best as a late-game sweeper.
-Setting up after Mega Charizard X's checks and counters, such as bulky Water-types, have been taken out is best.
-Mega Charizard X should set up against Pokemon it forces out like Rotom-W, Mega Scizor, or Volkraken that's choice-locked into Fire Blast, as the free turn allows it to use Dragon Dance.
-Keep in mind that Charizard can set up in its base form. This allows Charizard to avoid an Earthquake from Colossoil, set up a Dragon Dance safely, and then Mega Evolve and take it out. However, if Charizard needs to set up against an Electric-type like Krilowatt, it should Mega Evolve to gain the resistance to Thunderbolt.
-Keep in mind how much recoil damage Flare Blitz causes to Mega Charizard X. Well timed Roosts allow Mega Charizard X not to be worn down too much. In addition, using Flare Blitz against Chansey can outright KO a weakened Mega Charizard X.

item: Charizardite Y

evs: 248 SpA / 8 SpD / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

-Fire Blast is Mega Charizard Y's most powerful move, 2HKOing most of the metagame.
-Flamethrower is a less powerful but more accurate alternative; the power drop is very noticable.
-Solar Beam OHKOes Choice Band and Belly Drum Azumarill, 2HKOes Assault Vest variants, can OHKO Slowbro after Stealth Rock damage, and can 2HKO Assualt Vest Colossoil. It also OHKOes Rock-types like Mega Diancie and Stratagem on the switch as well.
-Earthquake has a OHKOes Mega Crucibelle on the switch in, OHKOes Plasmanta, OHKOes most Mollux variants, and 2HKOes most Heatran variants.
-Focus Blast OHKOes other threats Tyranitar and Naviathan while retaining a 2HKO on all Heatran sets.
-Roost heals off Stealth Rock damage taken when switching in.

Set Details
========

-8 Special Defense EVs allow Mega Charizard Y to survive Krilowatt's Thunderbolt 100% of the time.
-252 Speed EVs and a Hasty Nature allow Mega Charizard Y to outspeed as many threats as possible, including other base 100s with a positive Speed nature and maximum Speed as well as Aurumoth. It also doesn't compromise Earthquake's damage.
-Mild can be used for more wallbreaking power, but Mega Charizard Y will be outpaced by Aurumoth.
-Timid and Modest natures should be used if Mega Charizard Y runs Focus Blast. Timid hits the same speed benchmark as Hasty, while Modest hits the same speed benchmark as Mild. These two natures do not lower Mega Charizard Y's lower defense stat.
-248 Special Attack EVs let Mega Charizard Y hit as hard as possible.
-Drought powers up Mega Charizard Y's Fire STAB move and reduces Solarbeam to only one turn of set up.
-Because Solar Power has the potential to damage Charizard and especially for this set since Mega Charizard Y is found on other sun teams, Blaze is used to avoid potential damage.

Usage Tips
========

-Mega Charizard Y functions best as an early- to mid-game wallbreaker, though it can clean bulkier, slower teams easily at the end of a match.
-Bring in Mega Charizard Y with a double switch or a safe Volt Switch or U-turn.
-Keeping Stealth Rock off the field is preferred, as Charizard and Mega Charizard Y will lose half of its health when switching in on them. With an odd HP stat, it can switch in twice and live with one HP.
-Be wary of Colossoil's Sucker Punch, as it can do a lot of damage, especially with a Hasty nature.
-Switch to an appropriate counter or use Roost when a healthy Chansey will be switched in, as Fire Blast and Focus Blast do little damage to it.
-Mega Crucibelle can stomach a Fire Blast or a Solar Beam, so if a Mega Crucibelle switch in is predicted, use Earthquake, as it will outspeed Mega Charizard Y after switching in.
-Be cautious of using Solar Beam if weather setters like Politoed, Tyranitar, Hippowdon, or Prankster Tomohawk can be switched in, as overwriting sun will immobilize Mega Charizard Y as it charges Solar Beam. The free turn allows these setters to KO Mega Charizard Y, set up Stealth Rock, use a recovery move, or use a status move on Mega Charizard Y. Even if Mega Charizard survives, Solar Beam will be weak without the sun's damage boost.
-Keep a watch on sun turns, as if Mega Charizard Y runs out of turns, its main STAB move will see a great drop in power and Solar Beam will become a two-turn move.

Team Options
========

-Spinners/Defoggers
-Stallbreakers like Calm Mind Clefable, Magma Storm Heatran, and Gliscor can remove Chansey from play, the most prominent special wall that would get in Mega Charizard Y's way.
-Pursuit trappers like Bisharp and Colosoil can KO Latios and Latias, two of the few Pokemon that resist Mega Charizard Y's common moves.
-Chlorophyll sweepers like Life Orb Venusaur appreciate Mega Charizard Y's sun, though a secondary sun setter such as Prankster Tomohawk is usually helpful, as Mega Charizard would rather use the sun turns for itself rather than for a teammate.
-Faster Pokemon, such as Syclant, and Choice Scarf users, such as Choice Scarf Garchomp, can remove other faster Pokemon that threaten Mega Charizard Y such as Mega Diancie, Mega Crucibelle, and Choice Scarf Volkraken from play.

[SET]
name: Mega Bulky X
move 1: Will-o-Wisp
move 2: Roost
move 3: Flare Blitz
move 4: Earthquake / Dragon Claw
item: Charizardite X
ability: Blaze
nature: Impish
evs: 248 HP / 100 Def / 24 SpD / 136 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

-Will-o-Wisp allows Mega Charizard X to spread burns and act as a physical tank.
-Roost grants Mega Charizard X reliably recovery, allowing it to heal off Flare Blitz damage and chip damage.
-Flare Blitz is Mega Charizard X allows Mega Charizard X to remain offensive, even with no attack investment. For example, it still has a guaranteed 2HKO against Magic Guard Clefable.
-Earthquake allows Mega Charizard X not to be walled by Heatran, having a guarenteed OHKO on all variants after Stealth Rock damage. It also hits Cyclohm, Mega Crucibelle, Mollux, and Plasmanta for good damage.
-Dragon Claw is an alternative to Earthquake, hitting Latias, Latios, Mega Charizard Y, and Talonflame, which would otherwise be able to take a Flare Blitz if healthy.
-Dragon Tail can be used to phaze out set up sweepers like Manaphy and Revenankh, which could set up or continue setting up on Mega Charizard X, though it has imperfect accuracy and is weaker than Dragon Claw.

Set Details
========

-248 HP EVs give Mega Charizard X the most HP possible while also taking the least amount of HP from Stealth Rock.
-136 Speed EVs allow Mega Charizard X to outspeed offensive Tomohawk.
-100 Defense EVs and an Impish nature, in conjunction with the HP EVs, allow Mega Charizard X to avoid the 2HKO from Mega Metagross's Zen Headbutt and Weavile's Life Orb Icicle Crash (QC Note: couldn't find any good benchmarks aside from these :/).
-The leftover 24 EVs are invested in Special Defense to improve Mega Charizard X's special bulk slightly. It allows Mega Charizard X to avoid the OHKO from any of Timid Choice Specs Keldeo's moves.
-Tough Claws powers up Flare Blitz to respectable levels despite the lack of Attack investment.
-Blaze is used as it has no potential drawbacks; whereas Solar Power has the rare potential to take off an eighth of Charizard's health.

Usage Tips
========

-This set allow Mega Charizard X to act as a tank.
-Keeping hazards off the field allows Mega Charizard to be as healthy as possible.
-Switching into Pokemon like Mega Scizor and Rotom-W, which cannot do much back to Mega Charizard X, is best.
-Spread burns so Mega Charizard X can tank as many hits as possible, though watch out for Guts Colossoil, which could OHKO Mega Charizard X with Guts-boosted Earthquake.
-Use Flare Blitz against targets that don't mind a burn like Magic Guard Clefable, Mega Sableye, and Guts Colossoil.
-Keep an eye on Mega Charizard X's health, as well timed Roosts, such as on forced switches, can keep it healthy.

Team Options
========

-Spinners/Defoggers
-Regenerator Cores
-Sweepers enjoy Mega Charizard X's ability to whittle down opponents' health with burn damage.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

-Mega Charizard X can run a wallbreaker set utilizing Swords Dance similar to the Dragon Dance set; however, Mega Charizard X prefers the speed of the Dragon Dance set.
-Mega Charizard X can also run a Double Dance set utilizing Swords Dance + Tailwind. If it goes down early or is forced out, it can potentially let a teammate have boosted speed from Tailwind. However, Dragon Dance essentially gets these effective boosts in the same amount of turns in one moveslot.
-Brick Break can be used over Earthquake, as it outdamages Earthquake slightly and hits Tyranitar and Chansey harder. However, Ground-type coverage is better appreciated.
-Thunder Punch can let Mega Charizard X work around some of its Water-type checks like Azumarill and Slowbro; however, its power is weak and its coverage is inferior to its STAB moves and Earthquake.
-Mega Charizard Y can run Tailwind also to boost its speed, so it can outspeed most of the boosted metagame. However, it has a hard time giving up Roost or a coverage move for it.
-Dragon Pulse can be run to get a clean 2HKO on Cyclohm, Latios, Latias, and Garchomp; however, sun-boosted Fire Blast already 2HKOes Cyclohm and Latios, and its coverage is inferior to the main set.
-Ancient Power can be used to OHKO Talonflame and opposing Charizard, but it is very weak otherwise.

Checks and Counters
===================

No Pokemon can reliably check or counter both Mega Charizard X and Mega Charizard Y; however each forme has its own set of checks and counters.

**Mega Charizard X:**

**Bulky Water-types**: Unaware Quagsire is the best defensive counters to Mega Charizard X, as it ignores any Dragon Dance boosts and is 3HKOed by every move Mega Charizard can use against it; though Outrage 2HKOes it, even with a Jolly Nature. Quagsire can stall out Mega Charizard X with Recover otherwise. Arghonaut's tank set achieves the same result as Quagsire, though Arghonaut can set up Bulk Up and stall out Outrage. However, it needs to be conscious of the bulky set's Will-O-Wisp. Azumarill is immune to Mega Charizard X's Dragon STAB move and 3HKOed by Flare Blitz. However, a Choice Band Play Rough barely misses out on an OHKO on Mega Charizard X, and Azumarill has trouble checking a boosted Mega Charizard X. Additionally, the bulky variant can burn Azumarill and take its moves better. Slowbro can paralyze Mega Charizard X with Thunder Wave and take even a +3 Dragon Claw from the Dragon Dance set; while Slowbro can 3HKO back with Scald. Calm Mind Heatproof Naviathan can use Taunt to stop Mega Charizard X from setting up against it in consecutive turns, heal with Slack Off, boost with Calm Mind, and deal hefty damage with boosted Scald. However, it has a harder time defeating a Mega Charizard X that has already set up or one that runs Earthquake.

**Faster Pokemon**: Faster Pokemon, like Mega Diancie, Stratagem, Syclant, Keldeo, Choice Scarf Volkraken, and boosted Aurumoth can outspeed Mega Charizard X before it boosts with Dragon Dance and potentially KO it or weaken it. The bulky set is more easily outsped, though it is harder to KO it.

**Stealth Rock**: While Mega Charizard X takes only 25% of its health from Stealth Rock, Charizard takes half of its HP, making it difficult for both formes to set up after taking Stealth Rock damage.

**Physically Defensive Pokemon**: Defensive Landorus-T can check both Mega Charizard X sets and retaliate with Earthquake, though it doesn't appreciate a burn and cannot tank boosted moves. Cyclohm has trouble checking the Dragon Dance set, but walls the tank set and can retaliate with Draco Meteor or Discharge's paralysis. Pyroak also has problems checking the Dragon Dance set, but Pyroak can use Leech Seed on the bulky set and heal faster than Mega Charizard X can damage Pyroak, as Flare Blitz is only a 3HKO. Physically defensive Tomohawk is 3HKOed by Flare Blitz from bulky Mega Charizard X, and can wear it down with Air Slash, Earth Power, and Rocky Helmet recoil, while healing with Prankster Roost, removing any boosts with Prankster Haze, and setting up Pranskter Reflect. Garchomp can check bulky Mega Charizard X spread, though it is 2HKOed by Dragon Claw and does not appreciate a burn. Mega Sableye can use Recover until Mega Charizard has taken enough Flare Blitz recoil to use Roost and then use Foul Play or use Calm Mind. In addition, Mega Sableye can use Foul Play as Mega Charizard X uses Dragon Dance to deal massive damage.

**Status**: Paralysis neuters Mega Charizard X's good speed, while Toxic compromises Mega Charizard's decent bulk, particularly on the bulky set.

**Mega Charizard Y:**

**Special Walls**: Chansey can tank every hit from Mega Charizard Y with ease, and it can heal off the damage with Softboiled or paralyze Mega Charizard Y with Thunder Wave. Calm Mind Clefable can survive a sun-boosted Fire Blast, paralyze Mega Charizard with Thunder Wave, set up Calm Mind, and stall out sun turns; however, Clefable must be very healthy in order to achieve this.

**Stealth Rock**: Stealth Rock strips off half of Charizard and Mega Charizard Y's health, which could allow it to be KOed by an otherwise weak attack. Mega Charizard Y can use Roost to heal off the damage, but it gives the opponent a free turn.

**Weather Setters**: Weather setters like Politoed, Tomohawk, Hippowdon, and Tyranitar override Mega Charizard Y's sun. Rain severely reduces the power of Fire Blast, sand halves the power of Solar Beam, and both cause Solar Beam to become a two-turn attack. Politoed can retaliate with Hypnosis, Toxic, or rain-boosted Scald. In rain, Tomohawk can Roost off any damage Mega Charizard Y deals and hit back with 100% accurate Hurricanes. Hippowdon has a hard time taking a Fire Blast, but it can switch into Solar Beam and use the free turn to use Stone Edge or Toxic. Tyranitar can take any move from Mega Charizard Y aside from Focus Blast; in particular, Scarf Tyranitar can outspeed Mega Charizard Y and OHKO with Stone Edge.

**Priority**: Priority users take advantage of Mega Charizard Y's average physical bulk and possible Defense-hindering nature. Notable examples include Sucker Punch Colossoil, Swords Dance Talonflame, and Choice Band Azumarill. Choice Band Azumarill in particular can KO Mega Charizard Y after sun turns have expired.

**Faster Pokemon**: Faster Pokemon can outspeed Mega Charizard Y and KO it, especially physical attackers such as Talonflame, Mega Crucibelle, Mega Metagross, or Weavile. Powerful and faster special attackers such as Syclant, +1 Aurumoth, Krilowatt, Mega Manectric can hit hard as well, though Mega Charizard Y can stomach a special hit from full health if needed.

**Cyclohm**: Though Cyclohm is a physical wall, its typing allows it to stomach a Fire Blast and hit hard back with an Electric-type STAB move. However, it must be very healthy to switch into Mega Charizard Y.

**Specially Defensive Talonflame**: Specially defensive Talonflame can tank even sun-boosted Fire Blasts from Mega Charizard X and proceed to prevent it from Roosting through Taunt, wear it down with Acrobatics, or set up with Bulk Up.

**Status**: Paralysis from Magic Guard Clefable, Thundurus, and Cyclohm cuts Mega Charizard Y, while Toxic from tank Garchomp, Chansey, and Slowbro reduces Mega Charizard Y's longevity.

Alright ready for QC.

I know team options are a little barren on some sets, but I'll fill them in. I'd rather hear if I'm missing a group of teammates rather than examples of teammates at this point.

Looks great, well done Snake.

I think Arghonaut deserves a mention in the "Checks and Counters" section among the "Bulky Water-types" which stop Zard-X. The classic Tank has very little chance to be 2HKOed by Dragon Claw, the Bulk Up can boost himself in front of DD Zard-X and win the dual, a full/PV Def Arghonaut can wall DD Zard-Y easier. You should talk about Heatproof Naviathan in the same section too, 'cause Zard-X has trouble with him if he lacks EQ (even if you already mention it).

Also, among the "Physically Defensive Pokemon", you cited Tomohawk, but you didn't say that he can remove Zard-X's Boost with Prankster Haze or tank him easier with Prankster Reflect.

I don't know if you should mention Defensive Mollux as a answer to the Y form. Dry Skin is quite disturbing, even if he's not 2HKOed by Fire Blast under the sun, the risk grows dramatically if he comes when SR are up.

Anyway, nice job.

Put in Arghonaut and Heatproof Naviathan into Bulky Water-types in C&C, updated Tomohawk's entry in C&C, and removed Specially Defensive Mollux as a special tank (forgot that it takes residual from Sun with Dry Skin).

Thanks for the feedback Wenderz!

Moves
========

-Dragon Claw is an alternative to Earthquake, hitting Latias, Latios, Mega Charizard Y, and Talonflame, which would otherwise be able to take a Flare Blitz and eq if healthy.
-Dragon Tail can be used to phaze out set up sweepers like Manaphy and Revenankh, which could set up or continue setting up on Mega Charizard X, though it has imperfect accuracy and is weaker than Dragon Claw. move to other options since not mentioned on the set

Set Details
========

-248 HP EVs give Mega Charizard X the most HP possible while also taking the least amount of HP from Stealth Rock.
-136 Speed EVs allow Mega Charizard X to outspeed offensive Tomohawk. at whatever speed this is
-100 Defense EVs and an Impish nature, in conjunction with the HP EVs, allow Mega Charizard X to avoid the 2HKO from Mega Metagross's Zen Headbutt and Weavile's Life Orb Icicle Crash (QC Note: couldn't find any good benchmarks aside from these :/).

Usage Tips
========

========

-Spinners/Defoggers
-Regenerator Cores
-Sweepers enjoy Mega Charizard X's ability to whittle down opponents' health with burn damage.
explain, add some from the other zardx set team options

Other Options
=============

However, Ground-type coverage is better appreciated. mention on zardx, take out chansey since it takes more from flare blitz 120 x 1.5 = 180, 75 x 2 = 150
-Dragon Pulse can be run to get a clean 2HKO on Cyclohm, Latios, Latias, and Garchomp; however, sun-boosted Fire Blast already 2HKOes Cyclohm and Latios, and its coverage is inferior to the main set. mention on zardy
-Ancient Power can be used to OHKO Talonflame and opposing Charizard, but it is very weak otherwise. mention on zardy
add the things i told you to put here

Checks and Counters
===================

**Status**: Paralysis neuters Mega Charizard X's good speed, while Toxic compromises Mega Charizard's decent bulk, particularly on the bulky set.
looks good

Not QC, but if your adding Gen 7 changes to it, I would add Pelipper over Politoed in Weather Setter C&C. It can threaten Y by setting up weather over it, heavily damaging it with Scald, and can heal back previous damage with Roost.
