I have seen plenty of people refer to Fairies, and specially Sylveon to as "Dragon Slayer" in conversations, videos, pictures and more, but the Fairy Type was introduced in Generation 6, in Pokémon X Y. While the Fairy type deals "Super-effective" damage to dragons, ever since Generation 1 when Pokémon was first made, Dragons were weak to Ice Types and even themselves.

Not only that, but the "Glaceon" Eeeveelution was introduced in Generation 4, with Pokémon Diamond, Pearl and later Platinum, where Glaceon was an ice type.

What are your thoughts on this?

Not sure what's the point of this topic is.

The reason Fairy-types were being called "Dragon Slayers" is because they were intentionally made to counter the ever increasing presence of Dragon-types. They're super effective against them, are immune to their STAB, and Dragon-types usually don't have a move that Fairy-types would be weak to (unless their second type was).

Before Fairy-types, Dragon-types had an interesting place. While they were only super effective against themselves, they have a selection of powerful attacks to get STAB on, they were resistant to the Starter-types (plus Electric), and only other weakness was Ice-type. However, being dragons, they usually could learn Fire-type moves or Rock Slide/Stone Edge, so Ice-types weren't that much of a counter for Dragon-types. Pretty much another Dragon-type was a counter to a Dragon-type. And with them releasing more and more Dragon-types (many being Legendaries) this type which was originally meant to be rare was starting to get all too common on the meta scene.

Banned deucer.
Fairy`s are labeled "Dragon Slayers" because 1. They're actually immune to Dragon and 2. They deal SE damage on top of that. Ice doesn`t resist while Dragon is weak to itself, but since Fairy doesn`t have to worry about taking damage from them, it`s safe to call them "Dragon Slayers".

Did you ever use a Ice type pokemon to defeat a dragon ? No you only use Ice Beam and Fairy Types that's all. An Ice Pokemon never was a threat to a Dragon because they didn't resist Dragon (and Fairy are immuned) and they're not weak to their common coverage
