The ASB TournamentGrass-type Gym Arena

Surrounded by thousands of screaming Pokemon fansGrass-type Pokemon, the ASBGrass-type Gym Arena can be best described as a standard Pokemon battling arena. In the center of the arena lies a dirt-based floor outlined to show two separate sides (with a white Pokeball center). Surrounding the dirt is a moat filled with water. The moat is about fifteen feet wide and creates a perimeter around the dirt arena. The arena itself is eighty feet wide, one hundred feet long. All moves, weathers, and abilities are legal for the match, since it's an outdoor arena with a large water source and packed dirt. Pokemon must stay in the arena (or the dimensions of the arena in the case of Flying Pokemon, who cannot leave the arena and cannot fly higher than sixty feet). This prevents Pokemon from injuring the crowd watching the tournament. There are ALMOST no outside interruptions by fans, Pokemon, or other elements not associated with the current battle. However, the spectators are impatient and want to see a match. If a trainer hesitates excessively during the battle (read: goes over DQ), they will swarm and attack.

Summary:
- Standard rules
- If you go over DQ the spectators will brutally murder you. LOAs will be judged on a case-by-case basis, but don't push it.

Would you look at the crowd gathered here today! It's not surprising though, since we are about to enjoy an official Gym Circuit match. The Gym Leader this time is Elevator Music, famous even among Gym Leaders for having reached the pinnacle of Grass mastery. His challenger deadfox081 has made the choice to bring three Flying-types to the arena, which is smart considering the Gym Leader has proven he was able to play around Fire attacks. Will this give him a tactical advantage? We will see! For now, the coin toss is about to take place!

Sendout: 1-5000: Elevator Music, 5001-10000: deadfox081

The match opens up with two uncommon Pokémon facing each other! Unwilling to lose even one second, the Grass Pokémon begins munching on an energy bar. Once the treat has been consumed, it lets out a scream of challenge before concentrating psychic waves. Its opponent, sensing an incoming danger (you know, being a Fighting-type and all), carefully erects a protective barrier around itself... but nothing comes crashing into it? Necturna had released the psychic waves, yet it seems the Protect has been for naught. Oh well. Upset to have been played with, the Tomohawk sends an air blade at the defensless Necturna, but doesn't strike a weak point.
To finish this round, the Necturna rushes at its opponent, successfully grabbing its Rare Candy in the process. It smiles cheekily... before realizing Tomohawk has stolen it back!
I... I think they're having a fight now? The Rare Candy flies up in the air every now and then, and both are trying to catch it. That, uh, kinda lacks dignity.
They are now being recalled to their side and Tomohawk has gotten its candy back. Get ready for the next round!
Hey is it just me or are psychic waves getting stronger right now?

This rounds begins at lightning speed when the Tomohawk uses some of its life force to create a dummy to stomach attacks better! It's very cute and cuddly, I must say. Sadly, the dummy won't last long as a powerful bite from its opponent followed by a real storm of psychic waves tears it apart. That's a bit heartbreaking, but Tomohawk has other worries right now, for it is suddenly lifted in the air then thrown around! It shrugs off the attack then fires a sharp blade made of air at the Grass Pokémon, managing to hit a weak point. Shaking with both pain and rage, Necturna continues to smash Tomohawk around with its psychic power, while the latter retaliates with yet another air blade.
Both Pokémon are weakening, but Necturna's incredible fighting spirit seems to have worn off, letting it breathing heavily. Tomohawk has an advantage here, but its Trainer will have to predict which moves he'll have to dodge next round.
Stay tuned!

Both Trainers opted to replace their Pokémon for this round, and the Gym Leader decides to go on the offensive! deadfox judges this matchup as unfavorable and orders his Pokémon to get ready to come back at his side, but Elevator Music uses this opportunity to inflict a substantial amount of damage to his opponent! Wanting to minimize the amount of damage taken, Braviary quickly summons his own cute and cuddly doll, which get rammed into by the spiky ball.
Finally, taking advantage of the doll's protection (if only for a short amount of time), the bird begins charging a powerful attack! With a clearly visible intent to dispatch this troublesome opponent in its eyes, Ferrothorn uses another slow and destructive spinning attack to get rid of the doll for good, but Braviary is fully charged and divebombs at the Steel-type, emitting a light as bright as its defiant scream is loud.
Braviary then returns to deadfox's side, who ponders which Pokémon will be his next...

With Braviary in safety on the bench, it's Tomohawk who's chosen to face the Gym Leader. As soon as it's sent, it begins showing off its Rare Candy once again, belittling the Ferrothorn for not having one as well. Enraged by this, the Ferrothorn cannot set Stealth Rock on the field, instead entirely focusing on its opponent. Suddenly, Tomohawk takes flight and launches a ball of blue energy at Ferrothorn, powered up by the very same candy!
That's enough. Ferrothorn can't take any more crap and throws himself at Tomohawk, making the damn candy fly off Tomohawk, then squashes it when it lands. No more candy for you, flying demon!
This attack seems to have raised a battling spirit in Tomohawk though, and it aims to strike Ferrothorn's weak point with a Fire attack. The spiky ball doesn't take it too well, but its metallic exterior soften the blow and it doesn't get burnt. Finally, Ferrothorn uses another slow spin to dent its foe.
Both contestants are fairly tired, this match could go in any direction from now on!

Once again both Trainers are trying to play around each other, but while the Gym Leader reveals its third Pokémon, Braviary returns to the field on deadfox's side. Scouting for its foe's strategy, Roserade uses a shield to soften the blow from Braviary's divebomb, though the latter quickly returns with a slightly less powerful attack. Roserade then fires weak-looking energy waves and the crowd and I are surprised by how much of a punch they actually pack!
For the last attack of the round, Braivary decides to go with its favorite strategy: divebomb from above. It proves quite devastating, and the ball of toxic sludge it gets in return isn't nearly as powerful.
Without a doubt, Braviary was a good choice for deadfox, as its raw power allowed it to significantly dent Roserade. However, it is tired as well and probably won't stomach powerful assaults for much longer. How intense!
