DPL Champion
[OVERVIEW]

  • Deals well with common force of the metagame like Landorus-T, Zygarde and Heatran. Also the less FWG cores.
  • Can be very scary with Speed control, which is something that needs to put in work
  • Has a very hard time against Psychic spam and Sun, as it’s slower than most Pokémon on those archetypes.
[SET]

name: Life Orb attacker
move 1: Ice Beam
move 2: Fusion Bolt
move 3: Earth Power
move 4: Protect
item: Life Orb
ability: Teravolt
nature: Hasty
evs: 96 Atk / 160 SpA / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

Moves

  • Ice beam it’s the main and only stab of the set, able to OHKO most threats such as Landorus, Zygarde and Salamence. It also does great damage to Zapdos and grasses like Mega-Venusaur and Tapu Bulu.
  • Fusion Bolt completes the BoltBeam coverage, and is able to hit bulky waters such as Tapu Fini and Milotic as well as rain setters.
  • Earth Power is, thanks to Teravolt, able to hit Levitate user such as Rotom-Wash (Heat as well, and OHKO it) but can also OHKO non shuca berry Heatran variants and Tapu Koko.
  • Protect helps Kyurem-B stalling out Tailwind and TR.
========

Set Details

  • 252 Speed Hasty lets Kyurem-B outspeed non Choice Scarf variants of Landorus-T, and can speedtie with Tapu Lele
  • With 96 Attack investiments, it can OHKO bulky Charizard Y with Fusion Bolt boosted with Life Orb, as well as easly 2HKOing even the bulkiest Tapu Fini.
  • Life Orb gives Kyurem-B an amazing damage output and helps picking up knokouts that otherwise wouldn’t without it (Charizard Y, Tapu Koko).
  • Teravolt lets it bybass ability like Thick Fat and Levitate, letting it hit for supereffective damage Rotom Wash and Heat as well as the rare Mega Venusaur.

========

Usage Tips

  • Kyurem-B can be used both early and end game, repsectively to chunk foes and letting partners sweep in middle or end game or to clean up the opposing team when its checks are weakened enough.
  • This Pokémon greatly appreciates forms of Speed control like Tailwind and Icy Wind, as it finds itself in an akward speed tier, so put it in situations where is faster than the opponents
  • Kyurem-B has a nice bulk, but not the greatest devensive typing, so it can’t really switch into attacks as it gets threatened by Fairy, Dragon and Steel type attacks, and since it uses Life Orb it gets worn down fast.
========

Team Options

  • Teammates like Tapu Koko and Steel-types appreciate things like Landorus, Zygarde and Heatran gone, also gives Fusion Bolt more power with Electric Terrain
  • Kyurem-B appreciates forms of speed control, so teammates than can set up Tailwind or use Icy Wind like Zapdos, Suicune or Victini with Glaciate are good partners.
  • Pokémon than can scare out Fairies and Psychic-types (Tapu Lele, Diancie, Deoxys-A) like Mega Metagross, Aegislash and Heatran are good partners.
========

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]

Other Options

  • A Choice Scarf set with Ice Beam, Fusion Bolt, Iron Head and Rock Slide with a Naive Nature can be used to pick up surprise knock outs on Mega Salamence, Choie Scarf Landorus, Diancie and Charizard Y.

=============

Checks and Counters

**Fairy types** Tapu Lele is a good checks thanks to it being able to OHKO Kyurem-B with Moonblast. Tapu Fini can also live a hit and can retaliate back with Moonblast.

**Steel types** Other than Heatran, Kyurem-B doesnt really threatens many steels. Aegislash can easly take an Earth Power in Shield Form and KO it after a round of Life Orbi f Hasty, OHKO if it’s Naive

**Trick Room** Kyurem-B hates facing Trick Room, as most of the Pokémon that benefits from it like Diancie and Kangaskhan, can take hits with ease, so it tends to be deadweight in TR matchups.

**Psychic types** Most Psychic-types in the tier are faster or don’t take too much damage from Kyurem-B, and can kill it, like Deoxys-A under Psychic Terrain, Metagross, Tapu Lele and Hoopa under TR.

Under Moves, it might be worth replacing the mention of Mega Venusaur with Amoonguss, as Mega Venusaur isn't ranked on the DOU Viablility Rankings while Amoonguss is.

Under Other Options, it might be worth mentioning Substitute. 52 HP evs gives Kyurem-Black 404 HP, which is enough to create 101 HP subs that can withstand two Kangaskhan Seismic Tosses.

Under Checks and Counters, Rock-types and Fighting Types both deserve a mention imo.

Tyranitar has enough bulk to withstand all of Kyurem's attacks (especially under sand), and in return hits hard with its Rock STAB. Diancie likewise beats Kyube unless faced with Iron Head. Terrakion outspeeds and KOs Kyube with either its Rock or Fighting STAB. Landorus Therian packs both Rock Slide and Superpower which can pick off weakened Kyurems.

Dragon types both also deserve a mention, as Mence and Kingdra both outspeed and OHKO Kyurem with Draco Meteor (outside of Misty Terrain, of course).

Under your mention of Steel-types, Mega Metagross should probably be mentioned as it outspeeds Kyuerm and OHKOs it with Iron Head.

fix ur formatting to look like this guys

[overview]
- expand this shit

[moves]
- ice beam for amoong not venu

[team options]
- keep in mind you should also expand upon what kind of team archetypes this mon would be on in order to give the reader some sense of team structure to consider. this should also influence the highlighted pokemon in here.

[oo]
- z crystal for fusion bolt is a nifty tech option to put in here, as well as sub if its not getting its own thing this gen

[checks and counters]
- rock types like genone said. fighting is more contentious since they are rare af and consists almost entirely of terrakion, so i'll leave that for the 2/2 guy
- metagross in steels
- psychic types would go above trick room on this list
- faster pokemon should be a tag; dragon-types may also be one but its more dubious to me since dragons tend to not want to use their dragon type moves rn bar hydreigon and mence typically doesnt use one so it'd be like hydreigon/kingdra as the two big ones so i'll leave that for 2/2 guy as well

do this and i'll see if its 1/2 worthy k

I pretty strongly object to psychic types being said to check or counter kyub anyway...

they don't resist. they don't hit SE. It has nothing to do with it being psychic types. What you're looking for is "strong attackers" which is very generic.

Toxigen it's been a real long time, do you still want to work on this? I'd be happy to have you continue with it but if not I'd like to get it back available so that someone else can pick up where you left off
