[OVERVIEW]

  • Unique ability in Magnet Pull lets it trap Steel-types like Scizor Forretress Empoleon to support its teammates
  • Decent SpA lets it act as a wallbreaker too
  • Its low Speed doesn't let it outspeed much so it usually ends up being forced out by sutff like Krookodile Gliscor and Terrakion
  • Subpar bulk doesnt let it take too many hits, even resisted hits like Latias' Draco Meteor and Xurkitree's Thunderbolt will heavily damage it

Moves
========

  • Thunderbolt is a strong and reliable STAB move that lets it trap Empoleon and also nets good damage on neutral targets thanks to the Specs boost
  • Flash Cannon is its secondary STAB and hits Fairy-types
  • Hidden Power Fire is very important, as it lets it trap Forretress and Scizor
  • Volt Switch is a weaker STAB move that lets it regain momentum

Set Details
========

  • Max Special Attack and Speed investment maximizes its offensive power while also outspeeding Scizor with a Timid nature.
  • Magnet Pull is Magneton's only viable ability that gives it its niche as a Steel-type trapper
  • Choice Specs gives it as much damage output as possible

Usage Tips
========

  • Most Steel-types can't do too much damage to Magneton on the switch so it should aim to use any opportunity it gets to try and trap them, tho it must be wary of Superpower Scizor. Some opponents will play carefully with their Steel-types to avoid getting trapped so bringing Magneton in on a double switch is also a good idea.
  • If the opponent lacks a Steel-type Mag can trap, then it should try to pivot into resisted hits to get iniciative with Volt Switch or start wallbreaking with its Specs attacks.

Moves
========

  • Thunderbolt is its most reliable STAB move

Set Details
========

  • Max Special Attack and Speed investment
  • Magnet Pull allows Magneton to trap Steel-types and is its only viable ability
  • Choice Scarf gives it a nice Speed boost, letting it outspeed the likes of Latias, Starmie and Cobalion and prevents it from being revenge killed by them

Usage Tips
========

  • Without a boosting item, Magneton can't act as a wallbreaker due to the lack of power. However, it can act as a nice revenge killer for Pokemon that would normally outpace it such as Latias and Cobalion.

Other Options
=============

List some options for the Pokemon user that are plausible but not always recommended due to either being not consistent enough or too outclassed by other Pokemon in the metagame.
