[OVERVIEW]

Mawile is an overall average Pokemon that is able to serve as a wallbreaker or a physical wall. This versatility is thanks to its nice movepool, with decent offensive and utility moves such as Play Rough, Iron Head, and Stealth Rock, and two great abilities in Sheer Force and Intimidate. Furthermore, Mawile has a great offensive and defensive typing that offers good STAB coverage and a useful resistance to Stealth Rock and an immunity to Toxic Spikes. When serving as a wallbreaker, Mawile can break through many slower foes such as Drampa and Clefairy, and even certain faster ones such as Alolan Raichu thanks to Sucker Punch. As a physical wall, Mawile can take hits from many physical Normal-, Dark-, and Grass-types, including Stoutland and the physical variants of Skuntank, Spiritomb, and Shiftry, and either cripple them with Toxic or Knock Off or use the opportunity to set up Stealth Rock. Sadly, Mawile's stats are a large setback; though it has somewhat respectable Attack and Defense stats, Mawile is pretty slow and specially frail, making it relatively easy to KO for many offensive foes. These downsides furthermore leave it with a lot of competition in both of its potential roles, with wallbreakers such as Passimian, Aggron, and Stoutland having higher overall damage output, bulk, and Speed, the latter in Passimian and Stoutland's cases. Similarly, other physical walls such as Regirock and Ferroseed can accomplish the same and even bring their own unique aspects in Regirock’s higher natural bulk and Ferroseed’s Eviolite and access Leech Seed and Spikes; both also have noticeably higher special bulk.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Play Rough serves as Mawile’s main STAB move and hits Fighting-, Dragon-, and Dark-types such as Gurdurr, Drampa, and Spiritomb for super effective damage. Iron Head gives Mawile a secondary STAB move that hits some bulky foes such as Regirock and Clefairy super effectively and certain Fairy-resistant Pokemon like Weezing neutrally. Sucker Punch somewhat makes up for Mawile’s low Speed by allowing it to hit faster foes such as Alolan Raichu and Mesprit. Fire Blast hits Steel-types and physically defensive Grass-types like Ferroseed, Gourgeist-XL, and Tangela, which otherwise wall Mawile.

Set Details
========

Sheer Force boosts Mawile’s moves bar Sucker Punch and stacks with Life Orb while negating its recoil. This, combined with 252 EVs in Attack and a Naughty nature, allows Mawile to hit as hard as possible. A Naughty nature is preferred so that Fire Blast can still deal a decent amount of damage. 252 Speed EVs allow Mawile to outspeed as many Pokemon as possible, giving it more offensive presence. A Naive nature can be run to outspeed certain Pokemon such as Adamant Golurk and Choice Specs Lanturn, but Mawile prefers extra power to allow it to wallbreak more easily.

Usage Tips
========

Due to its decent Attack stat, Life Orb, and Sheer Force, Mawile is best utilized to break down bulkier Pokemon like Gurdurr and Clefairy. Mawile should very rarely be switched in to take an attack, as even resisted moves such as Mesprit’s Psychic and Lilligant’s Giga Drain still do a lot of damage. Exceptions are switching into attacks that it is immune to, such as Dragon- and Poison-type attacks, but even then, users of those moves often carry coverage for Mawile. Your best bet is to predict or bait a switch into something like Regirock or Clefairy before doubling into Mawile. It can also switch into a potential Toxic from foes such as Alolan Persian or while the foe is recovering, such as Clefairy using Soft-Boiled. Alternate options are to bring it in through a slow pivot, such as Mesprit's U-turn, or after a teammate is KOed. Mesprit can also be used to lure in Skuntank before using U-turn to bring in Mawile for a KO. When facing fast Pokemon, Mawile should usually go for Sucker Punch. However, be aware that certain Pokemon could use this as an opportunity to set up, such as Archeops using Roost and Oricorio-G using Substitute or Calm Mind.

Team Options
========

Mawile can break down bulkier foes such as Regirock and Drampa, allowing late-game sweepers such as Archeops and Pyroar to come in and clean up. Special attackers such as Magmortar and Drampa can help deal with physical walls that give Mawile trouble, while Mawile can help break down special walls. Special attackers also lure in said special walls, which Mawile can double in on. Slow pivots such as Eelektross and Lanturn can take a hit before getting Mawile onto the field safely, supplying decent chip damage in the process. Water-types such as Gastrodon, Swanna, and Lanturn can help with the Ground-types that threaten Mawile such as Golurk and Palossand, and Mawile can help Water-types against bulky Grass-types and special walls. Grass-types such as Lilligant and Shiftry can also help with Ground-types and have a good matchup against Carracosta and other common checks, and Mawile can deal with their common threats such as Ferroseed. Faster Water-types such as Floatzel can help pressure Fire-types such as Magmortar and Pyroar. Hazard setters such as Weezing and Regirock can help weaken foes, making them easier for Mawile to break through. Weezing can also serve as an immunity to Ground-type attacks. Finally, there is Mesprit, which can fulfill multiple of the previously mentioned roles, such as setting up Stealth Rock, supplying a slow U-turn and breaking through physical walls, depending on its set; Mesprit can also support Mawile late-game with Healing Wish.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Stealth Rock limits your opponent's ability to switch, as it deals a good amount of chip damage every time one of their Pokemon enters the field. Play Rough gives Mawile a reliable STAB move, most notably against Dark- and Fighting-types such as Spritomb, Alolan Raticate, and Hitmonchan. Super Fang is Mawile's other form of offensive pressure, as it takes away half of the target's current health; this helps it break down bulkier foes that don't mind Play Rough such as Regirock, Lanturn, and especially those with reliable recovery, such as Musharna. Super Fang also hits Poison- and Steel-types such as Weezing and Aggron, which resist Play Rough and are immune to Toxic. Toxic is used to whittle down bulkier foes and can be stacked with Super Fang. Knock Off is an option over Toxic that helps Mawile cripple Eviolite holders like Ferroseed and Bronzor and Choice item users like Mesprit and Stoutland.

Set Details
========

252 EVs in HP and Defense, along with an Impish nature, allow Mawile to best take physical attacks from Dark-, Grass-, and Normal-type attackers such as physical Skuntank, physical Shiftry, and Stoutland. Intimidate lets Mawile more easily switch in to take those physical attacks by lowering Attack stats. Leftovers gives Mawile constant recovery, making it harder to break through or wear down, and is Mawile's only form of recovery. Rocky Helmet is an alternate choice that whittles down contact move users such as Skuntank and Stoutland and is especially helpful against U-turn users such as Mesprit and Liepard. Unfortunately, Rocky Helmet makes Mawile easier to wear down due to the lack of residual recovery.

Usage Tips
========

Mawile is best used when switching in to take hits from Dark-types like physical Skuntank and Absol, Grass-types like physical Shiftry and Leafeon, and Normal-types like Stoutland and Alolan Raticate. Most of these Pokemon do very little to Mawile, so will often switch out on the next turn. Mawile can use this turn to set up Stealth Rock, use Toxic on the incoming foe, or make a double switch into a better matchup. However, be wary of coverage on physical attackers, such as Archeops's Earthquake, mixed Skuntank's Fire Blast, and Shiftry's Leaf Storm, which will wear Mawile down until it is KOed. Mawile can also take advantage of Intimidate by activating it and pivoting into a teammate that appreciates it. However, be wary of Defiant users like Primeape and Pawniard, both of which just gain an Attack boost when hit by Intimidate. When the foe is at high health, Super Fang will often do more than Play Rough, especially against bulkier foes, so it is usually the better choice of attack. However, when the foe reaches lower health, Super Fang will be weaker, making Play Rough the better option. Mawile isn't the best switch-in to Fighting-types, especially wallbreakers such as Primeape and Passimian, due to its Steel typing. Mawile furthermore doesn't have a very good matchup against Psychic-types due to its terrible Special Defense stat allowing Pokemon such as Choice Specs Mesprit to 2HKO it with Psychic.

Team Options
========

Mawile can form a nice defensive core with specially defensive Pokemon such as Audino and Clefairy, as they can help with many special attackers that give Mawile trouble such as Pyroar and Lanturn, while Mawile can help with the physical attackers that break through them without trouble such as Stoutland and Alolan Raticate. Certain Water-types such as Lanturn and Gastrodon can handle Fire-types such as Magmortar and Pyroar, while Mawile helps against Grass-types such as physical Shiftry and Leafeon. Water-types can also help with Steel-types such as Aggron and Probopass, as can Fighting- and Fire-types such as Gurdurr and Magmortar. Similarly, checks to Ground-types such as Mesprit and Weezing can help against Ground-types such as Golurk and Torterra. Both can also serve as more reliable Fighting-type checks, and Mawile even offers a Dark resistance for Mesprit. Psychic- and Ghost-types such as Oricorio-G, Alolan Raichu, and Haunter appreciate Mawile's ability to deal with Dark-types, which can allow them to more easily set up late-game. Due to Mawile’s lack of reliable recovery, it appreciates teammates that can provide healing, such as the previously mentioned Audino with Wish and Mesprit with Healing Wish, especially if Mawile's item of choice is Rocky Helmet.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Mawile can be used as a Swords Dance sweeper, but its opportunities to set up can be hard to find due to its frailness. Swords Dance furthermore forces Mawile to replace Fire Blast, which leaves Mawile susceptible to being walled by Steel-types. It can also take out Sucker Punch, but losing out on priority makes it even easier to revenge kill. Rock Slide is a coverage option that hits incoming Fire-types such as Magmortar and Pyroar, but can only be used on a predicted switch, and again at the loss of Fire Blast or Sucker Punch. Mawile's defensive set can run Pain Split for a somewhat reliable form of recovery, but struggles to find a moveslot. With 176 Special Attack EVs, Mawile can serve as a decent lure for physical walls due to its great special movepool. This includes moves such as Flash Cannon for Weezing, Grass Knot for Carracosta, and Focus Blast for Aggron and Probopass, but they are generally useless otherwise and only hinder Mawile due the loss in Attack EVs. Finally, Mawile can be used with minimum Speed on Trick Room teams as a decent attacker, and although it is weak compared to other Trick Room attackers, it has the advantage of not having a weakness to any form of priority.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Fire-types**: Fire-types such as Magmortar and Pyroar resist both of Mawile's STAB moves and easily OHKO with Fire Blast, but they don't appreciate switching into Play Rough. They are even KOed when Play Rough is combined with damage from Stealth Rock and Sucker Punch. Combusken outspeeds Mawile and resists Sucker Punch, but is OHKOed by Play Rough, and while Turtonator can take a Play Rough, it cannot switch into one. However, both OHKO Mawile with Fire Blast.

**Faster Pokemon**: Due to the offensive set's frailness and low Speed, Mawile is very easy to revenge kill, so it largely fears Pokemon that outspeed it. This includes Pokemon such as Mesprit and Primeape, with the defensive set especially fearing Primeape due to Defiant. However, frailer Pokemon such as Archeops, Floatzel, and Oricorio-G have to watch out for Sucker Punch. Unfortunately, all of these Pokemon can play around Sucker Punch due to Archeops's Roost, Floatzel's Aqua Jet, and Oricorio-G's Substitute.

**Ground-types**: Ground-types such as Gastrodon, Palossand, and Torterra can take a hit from Mawile before easily OKHOing it with their respective STAB moves, although physically defensive Torterra doesn't like taking a Fire Blast. Faster Ground-types such as Golurk and Alolan Dugtrio fear Sucker Punch, but can take one before similarly OHKOing Mawile, or just use it as an opportunity to set up Stealth Rock or a Substitute, respectively. However, none of these Pokemon, barring Alolan Dugtrio, enjoy having to take a Toxic.

**Steel-types**: Steel-types such as Aggron, Probopass, and Bronzor take little from Mawile's attacks and are immune to Toxic; their biggest fear is Super Fang from defensive Mawile, but they can simply KO Mawile or use the move as an opportunity to set up Stealth Rock. However, certain Steel-types such as Ferroseed and Togedemaru do not like having to take a Fire Blast from offensive Mawile, although Togedemaru can use Encore on Mawile's defensive set or the offensive set after using Sucker Punch. Ferroseed and Bronzor do not want to take a Knock Off, as they do not want to lose their Eviolite.

**Physical Walls**: Physical walls such as Carracosta and Weezing switch into Mawile's attacks with relative ease and cripple it with Scald or Will-O-Wisp burns or use Taunt on the defensive set. Similar things can be accomplished through certain walls such as Gourgeist-XL and Tangela, but they fear switching into Fire Blast or staying in to take it. They can also switch into the defensive set with ease, but they and the previously mentioned Carracosta do not like Toxic.

[OVERVIEW]

  • Mawile is a nicely versatile (?) Pokemon, and can serve as a wallbreaker or a physical wall. (I'm hesitant on calling it versatile purely because it's such an average pokemon, with its two sets only being okay)
  • This is thanks to its both offensively and defensively great typing and movepool, along with access to two great abilities in Sheer Force and Intimidate to fulfill these different roles. (again, overselling what it can do in my opinion; a lot of its movepool coverage also comes from special moves or weaker coverage moves) (you could potentially mention utility moves, especially stealth rock) (almost all of the moves it wants to use have a secondary effect, meaning sheer force boosts them)
  • When serving as a wallbreaker, Mawile can break through many slower foes such as Drampa and Clefairy, and even certain faster ones such as Jynx and Oricorio-G thanks to Sucker Punch. (eh, no. I hate adding jynx and oricorio-g as sucker punch targets, because they can both play around it; something like alolan raichu may be a more appropriate nod)
  • As a physical wall, Mawile can takes hits from many physical Dark-, Grass-, and Normal-types, such as Skuntank, Shiftry, and Stoutland, and either cripple them with Toxic or Knock Off or use the opportunity to set up Stealth Rock. (worth noting that defensive mawile takes 45% minimum from mixed shiftry's leaf storm)
  • Sadly its stats are a large setback, as outside of its somewhat respectable Attack and Defense, Mawile is pretty slow and frail, making it fairly easy to KO for many offensive foes. (bad special defensive stat should be highlighted in respect to it being a wall, see previous point about shiftry's leaf storm)
  • This furthermore leaves it with a lot of competition in both roles, with wallbreakers such as Magmortar and Stoutland due to their higher Speed and bulk. (I feel like comparing magmortar to any wallbreaker is rather unfair, especially when they're different in how they function. mention something more relevant) (I feel like a mention to its resistance to stealth rock and immunity to toxic spikes would be nice)
  • Similarly, other physical walls such as Regirock and Ferroseed can accomplish the same with their own unique aspects such as Regirock’s higher natural bulk and Ferroseed’s Leech Seed and Spikes. (higher natural special bulk for both of them, and ferroseed has eviolite)

Moves
========

  • Play Rough serves as Mawile’s main STAB while also hitting Pokemon such as Gurdurr and Drampa for super effective damage. (hits fighting- and dark-types, and also mention drampa afterwards)
  • Iron Head gives Mawile a second STAB option that hits certain bulky foes such as Regirock and Granbull super effectively. (also allows it to hit things like weezing for neutral damage, in comparison to play rough)
  • Sucker Punch somewhat makes up for Mawile’s low Speed by allowing it to hit faster opponents. (name some)
  • Fire Blast hits Steel- and Grass-types that otherwise wall it such as Ferroseed, Gourgeist-XL, and Tangela. (i would rephrase this as it makes it seem as all grass-types wall it, which they don't. say physically defensive grass-types)

Set Details
========

  • Sheer Force boosts the majority of Mawile’s moves, barring Sucker Punch, along with removing Life Orb’s recoil.
  • This, combined with the 252 EVs in Attack and a Naughty nature, allows Mawile to hit as hard as possible, and gives it the ability to wallbreak as best it can.
  • The 252 Speed allows Mawile to outspeed as much as possible, giving it more offensive pressure. (i'd potentially mention a +spe nature being able to outspeed things like adamant golem and such)
  • Naughty nature is preferred so that Fire Blast can still deal a decent amount of damage while still boosting Mawile’s Attack. (but makes it even more susceptible to special attackers)

Usage Tips
========

  • Mawile is best utilized through breaking down bulkier opponents, mainly through Play Rough, but Iron Head and Fire Blast can be used depending on the matchup. (what does it break, why is it effective at breaking)
  • Mawile should very rarely be hard switched in to take an attack, as even resisted attacks such as Mesprit’s Psychic and Lilligant’s Giga Drain still do a lot. Exceptions to this would be switching into immunities such as Drampa or Alolan Exeggutor’s Draco Meteors, but even then they both carry coverage for Mawile to fear. Your best bet is to switch into a potential Toxic from foes such as Alolan Persian or while the foe is recovering, such as Musharna’s Moonlight or Clefairy’s Soft-Boiled. Alternate options would be to bring it in through a slow pivot user, such as Eelecktross or Lanturn’s Volt Switch or to bring Mawile in after a teammate is KOed. (don't mention musharna, as it uses mawile as setup fodder)
  • When facing fast opponents, Mawile should usually go for Sucker Punch. However, be wary that certain Pokemon could use this as an opportunity to set up, such as Archeops’s Roost and Oricorio-G’s Substitute or Calm Mind, so sometimes going for another attack is the best option, although this often leads to mind games.

Team Options
========

  • Cleaners such as Archeops and Pyroar and set-up sweepers such as Oricorio-G and Alolan Raichu appreciate Mawile’s ability to break down bulkier walls, which allows them to come in and more easily fulfill their roles. (mmm, you're saying that they appreciate something but im not quite sure what they're actually having broken for them, or how they support mawile)
  • Special Attackers such as Magmortar and Drampa can help deal with physical walls that give Mawile trouble, such as Qwilfish and Weezing, while Mawile can help break down the special walls in return. (what walls, mag can absorb will-o-wisp and take special attacks for mawile too)
  • Slow pivot users such as Eelektross and Lanturn can take a hit before getting Mawile onto the field, supplying decent chip damage in the process so that Mawile can come in and pick up the KO. (makes mawile appear way stronger than it is, especially with how vague what it's hitting is)
  • Water-types such as Gastrodon, Swanna, and Floatzel can help with the Fire- and Ground-types that threaten Mawile, such as Magmortar and Palossand. (oof, you're 100% gonna have to mention offensively pressure magmortar for the latter two, as neither want to switch in on a thunderbolt)
  • Grass-types such as Lilligant and Shiftry can also help with the Ground-types, along with having a good matchup against Carracosta. (they're also able to weaken common checks to it and lilligant especially enjoys pokemon like ferroseed being either weakened or dealt with)
  • Hazard setters such as Qwilfish and Weezing can help weaken foes, making them easier for Mawile to break through. (i wouldn't really refer to weezing as a reliable hazard setter) (break through what? physical walls, poison from toxic spikes helps chip them, etc)
  • Finally there is Mesprit, who, depending on the set, can fulfill multiple of the previously mentioned roles, along with being able to support Mawile late-game with Healing Wish. (stealth rock! slow u-turn, can break physical walls, something like that)

Moves
========

  • Stealth Rock limits your opponent’s ability to switch, as it deals a good amount of chip damage every time one of their Pokemon hits the field.
  • Play Rough gives Mawile some STAB offensive pressure, most notably against Dark- and Fighting-types such as Alolan Raticate, Absol, and Hitmonchan.
  • Super Fang is Mawile’s other form of offensive pressure, which helps break down bulkier foes that don’t mind Play Rough such as Regirock, Musharna, and Lanturn. (super fang also dents weezing, which is worth noting, along with steel-types that are immune to toxic and resist its main stab)
  • This can be stacked up with Toxic, which furthermore whittles down those bulkier foes. (this is more for crippling things long term, especially pokemon that have access to reliable recovery such as gastrodon and the aforementioned musharna)
  • Knock Off helps cripple Pokemon such as Eviolite holders like Gurdurr and Clefairy and Choice items users like Mesprit and Stoutland. (i'd be hesitant to mention both gurdurr and clefairy; gurdurr never wants to be in on mawile regardless of the set and clefairy would only come in if all of mawile's moves have been revealed, as it would fear the iron head)

Set Details
========

  • 252 EVs in HP and Defense, along with an Impish nature, allows Mawile to take physical attacks as best it can. (checking things like...)
  • Intimidate furthers this, and lets Mawile more easily switch in to take attacks. (although it has to be wary of giving primeape or pawniard a defiant boost)
  • Leftovers gives Mawile constant residual recovery, making it harder to break through or wear down.
  • Rocky Helmet is an alternate choice that furthermore whittles down contact move users such as Skuntank and Stoutland, and is especially helpful against U-turn users such as Mesprit and Liepard. (however mawile itself is rather easy to wear down without access to leftovers)

Usage Tips
========

  • Mawile is best when switched in to take a hit from a Dark-types like Skuntank and Absol, Grass-types like Shiftry and Leafeon, or Normal-type Pokemon like Stoutland and Alolan Raticate. (mention that it has to know what set both skuntank and shiftry are before doing so, as leaf storm from shiftry does around 45% minimum and special skuntank or mixed will be able to beat it with fire blast)
  • Most of these do little to it, and will often switch out immediately, so Mawile can use this turn to set up Stealth Rock or Toxic the incoming opponent. (this can also be used to force a double on your part)
  • However, be wary of Pokemon with coverage, such as Archeops and Kangaskhan with Earthquake, who often just stay in for the 3HKO. (i wouldn't say that kangaskhan would stay in, as a 50% chance to 3hko (not factoring in the 1% max roll from fake out or stealth rock damage) isn't optimal) (i think it'd be more suitable to mention both skuntank and shiftry here)
  • It can also be brought in against physical attackers to take advantage of Intimidate, and furthermore be pivoted back out into a teammate with a better matchup, who would also appreciate the Attack drop from Intimidate. (watch out for both pawniard and primeape, if not previously mentioned)
  • Lastly, when facing Pokemon with more HP remaining, you’ll mainly be going for Super Fang. However, when they reach lower HP, you’ll often want to switch to Play Rough due to Super Fang’s lower damage output.
  • despite being a fairy-type the added steel-typing makes it a shaky fighting-type resist, especially versus passimian and primeape, for example. it's also unable to function as a good psychic-type resist despite being steel-type as it suffers from a pitiful special defense stat, meaning choice specs mesprit can 2hko with psychic

Team Options
========

  • Mawile can form a nice defensive core with specially defensive Pokemon such as Miltank and Clefairy, as they can help with many special attackers that give Mawile trouble such as Pyroar and Lanturn, while Mawile can help with the physical attackers that break through them trouble such as Stoutland and Alolan Raticate. (i'm unsure about miltank here as, while it does offer a semi-reliable specially defensive wall, it overlaps roles with mawile, especially as a stealth rock setter; i think a mention to either lanturn of audino would be more suitable)
  • Certain Water-types such as Lanturn and Gastrodon can handle Fire-types such as Magmortar and Pyroar, while Mawile helps against Grass-types such as Shiftry. They can also help with Steel-types such as Aggron and Probopass, as can Fighting- and Fire-types such as Gurdurr and Magmortar. (i'd remove shiftry, having leaf storm do as much as it does makes mawile and extremely shaky check to it) (magmortar appreciates specially defensive walls either crippled or weakened by mawiles coverage moves and gurdurr like mawile's ability to soften psychic-types and weezing)
  • Similarly, Ground-type checks such as Mesprit and Weezing can help with Ground-types such as Golurk and Torterra. (they do, yes. expand here; they're more reliable checks to fighting-types while mawile offers a decent dark-type resist for mesprit)
  • Psychic- and Ghost-types such as Mesprit, Oricorio, Jynx, and Musharna appreciate Mawile’s ability to deal with Dark-types, especially as set-up users. (rearrange the list and potentially remove mesprit as it's just mentioned; adding another ghost-type like haunter is ideal) (i'd also remove jynx, because 1v1 it's able to cripple every dark-type with lovely kiss, barring the faster liepard) (musharna actually beats most dark-types with its z-move)
  • Due to Mawile’s lack of reliable recovery, it appreciates teammates that can provide healing for it, such as Audino’s Wish and the previously mention Mesprit’s Healing Wish.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

  • Mawile can be run as a Swords Dance sweeper, but it can be hard to find any chances to set up due to its frailness, and furthermore forces it to lose out on coverage. (it'd have to drop sucker punch, making it far easier to revenge kill, however it is a decent breaker) (if it drops fire blast again it increases its checks)
  • Thunder Punch is an alternate coverage option that allows Mawile to hit Qwilfish. (boosted by sheer force but the lack of sucker punch, again, hinders how effective mawile is; also losing fire blast sucks)
  • Rock Slide is another coverage option that hits incoming Fire-types such as Magmortar and Pyroar. (this has to be done on the switch)
  • Mawile’s defensive set can run Pain Split for a somewhat reliable form of recovery. (any negatives? 4 moveslot syndrome)
  • With a decent amount of Special Attack investment, Mawile can serve as a decent lure for Physical Walls due to its great special movepool. This includes moves such as Flash Cannon for Weezing, Grass Knot for Carracosta, and Focus Blast for Aggron and Probopass, but they are generally useless otherwise and only hinder Mawile due its loss in Attack EVs.
  • Finally, Mawile can be used with minimum Speed on Trick Teams as a decent abuser. (but is often too weak compared to other users to worth considering, although it doesn't have a weakness to any form of priority)

Checks and Counters
===================

**Faster Pokemon**: Due to its frailness, Mawile is very easy to revenge kill, so it largely fears Pokemon that outspeed it. This includes Pokemon such as Mesprit, Primeape, and Kangaskhan (it also fears primeape because the defensive set gives it the defiant boost). However, faster Pokemon on the frailer side such as Archeops, Floatzel, and Oricorio-G have to watch out for Sucker Punch. (you need to mention why those pokemon beat it, i'd also remove kangaskhan) (archeops beats both sets) (oricorio-g can outplay with substitute)

**Fire-types**: Fire-types such as Magmortar and Pyroar resist both of Mawile’s STABs, and can easily KO with Fire Blast, but don’t appreciate switching into a Play Rough and taking a Sucker Punch, and are even KOed if Stealth Rock is up. Combusken also resists Sucker Punch, but can’t switch into a Play Rough.

**Ground-types**: Ground-types such as Gastrodon, Palossand, or Torterra can take a hit from Mawile before easily OKHOing in return with their Earthquake or Earth Power (rearrange to reflect with pokemon uses what move). Faster Ground-types such as Golurk and Alolan Dugtrio fear Sucker Punch, but can take one before similarly OHKOing Mawile, or just use it as an opportunity to set up Stealth Rock or a Substitute, respectively. (don't enjoy toxic, bar alolan dugtrio)

**Steel-types**: Steel-types such as Aggron, Probopass, and Bronzor take little from Mawile, with their biggest fear being Super Fang from defensive Mawile, and can KO or use it as an opportunity to set up Stealth Rock. However, certain Steel-types such as Ferroseed and Togedemaru do not like having to take a Fire Blast from offensive Mawile. (they are not affected by toxic, unlike the previously mentioned checks) (bronzor has to watch out for knock off) (togedemaru can encore mawile, especially the defensive set or on a sucker punch)

**Physical Walls**: Physical walls such as Carrcosta, Qwilfish, and Weezing can relatively easily switch into Mawile’s Attacks and cripple it through Scald or Will-O-Wisp Burns, if not outright KO it (no mention of how qwilfish can taunt the defensive set) (they don't outright KO it, unless extremely chipped; this includes the offensive set). Similar can be accomplished through certain walls such as Ferroseed and Gourgeist, but both fear switching into a Fire Blast, or staying in to take one. (i'd change this to say that they can switch in to the defensive set better)
Done. Good Work. QC 1/3

This is continued with its both offensively and defensively great typing, which furthermore gives it a resistance to Stealth Rock and immunity to Toxic Spikes.
  • When serving as a wallbreaker, Mawile can break through many slower foes such as Drampa and Clefairy, and even certain faster ones such as Alolan Raichu thanks to Sucker Punch.
  • As a physical wall, Mawile can takes hits from many physical Dark-, Grass-, and Normal-types, such as Physical Skuntank, Physical Shiftry, and Stoutland, and either cripple them with Toxic or Knock Off or use the opportunity to set up Stealth Rock.
  • Sadly its stats are a large setback, as outside of its somewhat respectable Attack and Defense, Mawile is pretty slow and frail on the Special Defense side, making it fairly easy to KO for many offensive foes, and can even give it trouble against things like Mixed Shiftry's Leaf Storm.
  • This furthermore leaves it with a lot of competition in both roles, with wallbreakers such as Passimian, Aggron, and Stoutland due to their higher overall damage output, bulk, and Speed, in Passimian and Stoutland's cases.
  • Similarly, other physical walls such as Regirock and Ferroseed can accomplish the same with their own unique aspects such as Regirock’s higher natural bulk and Ferroseed’s Eviolite and access Leech Seed and Spikes, along with both having noticeably higher Special Bulk.

Moves
========
  • Play Rough serves as Mawile’s main STAB while also hitting Fighting- and Dark-types such as Gurdurr and Alolan Raticate, along with Drampa, for super effective damage.
  • Iron Head gives Mawile a second STAB option that hits some bulky foes such as Regirock and Granbull bull sucks enough id consider naming something else super effectively, along with certain Play Rough resistances such as Weezing neutrally.
  • Sucker Punch somewhat makes up for Mawile’s low Speed by allowing it to hit faster opponents, such as Alolan Raichu and Offensive Mesprit.
  • Fire Blast hits Steel- and Physically Defensive Grass-types that otherwise wall it such as Ferroseed, Gourgeist-XL, and Tangela.

Set Details
========
  • Naughty nature is preferred so that Fire Blast can still deal a decent amount of damage while still boosting Mawile’s Attack, although it makes it more vulnerable against Special Attackers.
  • The 252 Speed allows Mawile to outspeed as much as possible, giving it more offensive pressure.
  • A beneficial Speed nature what nature specifically can be ran to outspeed certain Pokemon such as Adamant Golurk and Specs Lanturn, but at the loss of some overall needed power.

Usage Tips
========
  • Due to its decent Attack stat, Life Orb, and Sheer Force, Mawile is best utilized through breaking down bulkier opponents, such as Gurdurr and Clefairy. This is mainly through Play Rough, but Iron Head and Fire Blast can be used depending on the matchup, such as Regirock or Ferroseed.
  • Mawile should very rarely be hard switched in to take an attack, as even resisted attacks such as Mesprit’s Psychic and Lilligant’s Giga Drain still do a lot. Exceptions to this would be switching into immunities such as Drampa or Alolan Exeggutor’s Draco Meteors i mean u can just say dragon and poison attacks, but i should think this is obvious anyway, but even then they both carry coverage for Mawile to fear. Your best bet is to switch into a potential Toxic from foes such as Alolan Persian or while the foe is recovering, such as Clefairy’s Soft-Boiled. Alternate options would be to bring it in through a slow pivot user, such as Eelecktross or Lanturn’s Volt Switch or to bring Mawile in after a teammate is KOed.
  • When facing fast opponents, Mawile should usually go for Sucker Punch. However, be wary that certain Pokemon could use this as an opportunity to set up, such as Archeops’s Roost and Oricorio-G’s Substitute or Calm Mind, so sometimes going for another attack is the best option, although this often leads to mind games.
feels a little short but i cant think of anything else either. maybe somth about doubling in, because honestly i found that way better than setting up opportunities to slow pivot in

Team Options
========
  • Mawile can break down bulkier opponents such as Regirock and Drampa, allowing late game sweepers such as Archeops and Pyroar to come in and more easily clean up for Mawile.
  • Special Attackers such as Magmortar and Drampa can help deal with physical walls that give Mawile trouble, such as Qwilfish and Weezing, and Magmortar can also absorb Will-O-Wisps and take Special Attacks, while Mawile can help break down the special walls in return.
  • Slow pivot users such as Eelektross and Lanturn can take a hit from opponents such as Drampa and Alolan Raichu before getting Mawile onto the field, supplying decent chip damage in the process so that Mawile can come in and pick up the KO.
  • Water-types such as Gastrodon, Swanna, and Floatzel can help with the Fire- and Ground-types that threaten Mawile, such as Magmortar and Palossand, however they can be easily offensively pressured by Magmortar through either Thunderbolt or Hidden Power Grass.
  • Grass-types such as Lilligant and Shiftry can also help with the Ground-types, along with having a good matchup against Carracosta and other common checks, while Mawile can deal with their common threats such as Ferroseed.
  • Hazard setters such as Qwilfish and Regirock can help weaken foes with the Poison damage of Toxic Spikes, or the chip damage of Spikes or Stealth Rocks, making Pokemon such as Regirock and Gurdurr easier for Mawile to break through.
  • Finally there is Mesprit, who, depending on the set, can fulfill multiple of the previously mentioned roles, such as Stealth Rock, slow U-turn, and breaking through physical walls, along with being able to support Mawile late-game with Healing Wish.
ur gonna want to name mons that invite switchins from things like regirock and spdef clef, that gets mawile in much better than slow pivoting

Moves
========
  • Super Fang is Mawile’s other form of offensive pressure, which helps break down and cripple bulkier foes that don’t mind Play Rough such as Regirock and Lanturn, especially those with reliable recovery such as Musharna, along with Poison- and Steel-types, which resist Play Rough and are immune to Toxic, such as Weezing and Aggron.
  • It can also be stacked up with Toxic, which furthermore whittles down those bulkier foes.
  • Knock Off helps cripple Pokemon such as Eviolite holders like Ferroseed and Bronzor and Choice items users like Mesprit and Stoutland.

Set Details
========
  • 252 EVs in HP and Defense, along with an Impish nature, allows Mawile to take physical attacks as best it can from Dark-, Grass-, and Normal-types such as Physical Skuntank, Physical Shiftry, and Stoutland.
  • Intimidate furthers this, and lets Mawile more easily switch in to take those attacks.
  • Leftovers gives Mawile constant residual recovery, making it harder to break through or wear down.
  • Rocky Helmet is an alternate choice that furthermore whittles down contact move users such as Skuntank and Stoutland, and is especially helpful against U-turn users such as Mesprit and Liepard, although it makes Mawile easier to wear down due to the lack of residual recovery form Leftovers.

Usage Tips
========
  • Mawile is best when switched in to take a hit from a Dark-types like Physical Skuntank and Absol, Grass-types like Physical Shiftry and Leafeon, or Normal-type Pokemon like Stoutland and Alolan Raticate.
  • Most of these do little to it, and will often switch out immediately, so Mawile can use this turn to set up Stealth Rock or Toxic the incoming opponent, or make a double switch into a predicted better matchup.
  • However, be wary of Pokemon with coverage, such as Archeops and mixed Skuntank and Shiftry with Earthquake, Fire Blast, and Leaf Storm, respectively, who often just stay in to wear it down until it is KOed.
  • It can also be brought in against physical attackers to take advantage of Intimidate, and furthermore be pivoted back out into a teammate with a better matchup, who would also appreciate the Attack drop from Intimidate. However, be wary of Defiant users Primeape and Pawniard, both of which just gain an Attack boost.
  • When facing Pokemon with more HP remaining, you’ll mainly be going for Super Fang. However, when they reach lower HP, you’ll often want to switch to Play Rough due to Super Fang’s lower damage output.
  • Despite Mawile's Fairy-type, due to it being part Steel-type, Mawile isn't the best Fighting-type resist, especially against wallbreakers such as Primeape and Passimian. It furthermore doesn't have a very good matchup against Psychic-types, even with it's Steel-typing, due to it's dismal Special Defense, allowing Pokemon such as Choice Specs Mesprit to 2HKO with Psychic.

Team Options
========
  • Mawile can form a nice defensive core with specially defensive Pokemon such as Audino and Clefairy, as they can help with many special attackers that give Mawile trouble such as Pyroar and Lanturn, while Mawile can help with the physical attackers that break through them trouble such as Stoutland and Alolan Raticate.
  • Certain Water-types such as Lanturn and Gastrodon can handle Fire-types such as Magmortar and Pyroar, while Mawile helps against Grass-types such as Leafeon. They can also help with Steel-types such as Aggron and Probopass, as can Fighting- and Fire-types such as Gurdurr and Magmortar. Furthermore, Gurdurr appreciates Mawile's ability to soften Psychic-types such as Mesprit and Musharna, along with Weezing, while Magmortar appreciates Mawile's ability to cripple Special Defense Walls such as Audino and Lanturn.
  • Similarly, Ground-type checks such as Mesprit and Weezing can help with Ground-types such as Golurk and Torterra. Additionally, both can serve as more reliable Fighting-type checks, and Mawile even offers a Dark-type resist for Mesprit.
  • Psychic- and Ghost-types such as Oricorio-G, Alolan Raichu, and Haunter appreciate Mawile’s ability to deal with Dark-types, especially as set-up users.
  • Due to Mawile’s lack of reliable recovery, it appreciates teammates that can provide healing for it, such as the previously mentioned Audino’s Wish and Mesprit’s Healing Wish.

Other Options
=============
  • Mawile can be run as a Swords Dance sweeper, but it can be hard to find any chances to set up due to its frailness, and furthermore forces it to lose out on priority with Sucker Punch, making it even easier to revenge kill. see my real issue with this is that u kinda need fire blast but cant run it with SD, u would have to run like probo or somth with mawile
  • Thunder Punch is an alternate coverage option that allows Mawile to hit Qwilfish, and is boosted by Sheer Force, but again at the loss of Sucker Punch. calc thunderbolt and see if that's more worth mentioning here, because i assume it is. especially with intimidate from qwil
  • Rock Slide is another coverage option that hits incoming Fire-types such as Magmortar and Pyroar, but can only be taken advantage of on a predicted switch.
  • Mawile’s defensive set can run Pain Split for a somewhat reliable form of recovery, but suffers from the 4 moveslot syndrome.
  • Finally, Mawile can be used with minimum Speed on Trick Teams as a decent abuser, although it is pretty weak compared to other Trick Room Abusers, but also has the advantage of not having a weakness to any form of priority.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Faster Pokemon**: Due to its frailness, offensive!! Mawile is very easy to revenge kill, so it largely fears Pokemon that outspeed it. This includes Pokemon such as Mesprit and Primeape, with the Defensive set especially fearing Primeape due to Defiant. However, faster Pokemon on the frailer side such as Archeops, Floatzel, and Oricorio-G have to watch out for Sucker Punch. However, all of these Pokemon can play around Sucker Punch, due to Archeop's access to Roost, Floatzel's Aqua Jet, and Oricorio-G's Substitute.

**Fire-types**: Fire-types such as Magmortar and Pyroar resist both of Mawile’s STABs, and can easily KO with Fire Blast, but don’t appreciate switching into a Play Rough, and are even KOed when combined with the damage or Stealth Rock and Sucker Punch. Combusken outspeeds Mawile and resists Sucker Punch, but is OHKOed by Play Rough. move this section above faster pokemon imo, bigger pain

**Ground-types**: Ground-types such as Gastrodon, Palossand, or Torterra can take a hit from Mawile before easily OKHOing in return with their Earth Power or Earthquake. Faster Ground-types such as Golurk and Alolan Dugtrio fear Sucker Punch, but can take one before similarly OHKOing Mawile, or just use it as an opportunity to set up Stealth Rock or a Substitute, respectively. However, none of these Pokemon, barring Alolan Dugtrio, enjoy having to take a Toxic. and only phys def torterra really switches into LO SF play rough

**Steel-types**: Steel-types such as Aggron, Probopass, and Bronzor take little from Mawile and are even immune to Toxic, with their biggest fear being Super Fang from defensive Mawile, and can KO or use it as an opportunity to set up Stealth Rock. However, certain Steel-types such as Ferroseed and Togedemaru do not like having to take a Fire Blast from offensive Mawile, although Togedemaru can Encore Mawile's defensive set or into a Sucker Punch. Furthermore, Ferroseed and Bronzor do not want to take a Knock Off.

**Physical Walls**: Physical walls such as Carrcosta, Qwilfish, and Weezing can relatively easily switch into Mawile’s Attacks and cripple it through Scald or Will-O-Wisp Burns or Taunt the defensive set. Similar can be accomplished through certain walls such as Gourgeist-XL or Tangela, but fear switching into a Fire Blast, or staying in to take one. They can also easily switch into the defensive set, however do not like a potential Toxic, nor does the previously mentioned Carracosta.

Naughty nature is preferred so that Fire Blast can still deal a decent amount of damage while still boosting Mawile’s Attack, although it makes it more vulnerable against Special Attackers. Exceptions to this would be switching into its immunities, Dragon- and Poison-type attacks, but even then they often carry coverage for Mawile to fear. Alternate options would be to bring it in through a slow pivot user, such as Eelecktross Mesprit's U-turn or Lanturn’s Volt Switch or to bring Mawile in after a teammate is KOed (i would go with mesprit over eel, mainly because its uturn so its a more varied suggestion and also mesprit can bring in skunk for you, which is exactly what mawile wants). When facing fast opponents, Mawile should usually go for Sucker Punch. However, be wary that certain Pokemon could use this as an opportunity to set up, such as Archeops’s Roost and Oricorio-G’s Substitute or Calm Mind, so sometimes going for another attack is the best option, although this often leads to mind games. Super Fang can also be stacked up with Toxic, which furthermore whittles down bulkier foes. Knock Off is an option over Toxic that helps cripple Pokemon such as Eviolite holders like Ferroseed and Bronzor and Choice items users like Mesprit and Stoutland.

Set Details

252 EVs in HP and Defense, along with an Impish nature, allows Mawile to take physical attacks as best it can from Dark-, Grass-, and Normal-types such as Physical Skuntank, Physical Shiftry, and Stoutland. Intimidate furthers this, and lets Mawile more easily switch in to take those attacks (how exactly). Leftovers gives Mawile constant residual recovery, making it harder to break through or wear down (its worth it to point out that leftovers is mawile's only form of recovery). Rocky Helmet is an alternate choice that furthermore whittles down contact move users such as Skuntank and Stoutland, and is especially helpful against U-turn users such as Mesprit and Liepard, although it makes Mawile easier to wear down due to the lack of residual recovery from Leftovers.

Usage Tips
========

Mawile is best when switched in to take a hit from a Dark-types like Physical Skuntank and Absol, Grass-types like Physical Shiftry and Leafeon, or Normal-types like Stoutland and Alolan Raticate. Most of these attacks do little to Mawile, and will often switch out immediately, so Mawile can use this turn to set up Stealth Rock, Toxic the incoming opponent, or make a double switch into a predicted better matchup (actually can u just reword this sentence? it runs on and doesnt make a ton of sense because of it try to be more brief and concise, and break this into 2 sentences if u have to). However, be wary of Pokemon with coverage, such as Archeops and mixed Skuntank and Shiftry with Earthquake, Fire Blast, and Leaf Storm, respectively, who often just stay in to wear Mawile down until it is KOed. It can also be brought in against physical attackers to take advantage of Intimidate, and furthermore be pivoted back out into a teammate with a better matchup, who would also appreciate the Attack drop from Intimidate (you seem to have a problem with using "it" when it doesnt refer to anything. what is this "it" referring to? who is pivoting? what?). However, be wary of Defiant users Primeape and Pawniard, both of which just gain an Attack boost when hit by Intimidate. When facing Pokemon with more HP remaining, you’ll mainly be going for Super Fang (you have to explain this part more. its not clear what you are trying to say). However, when they reach lower HP, you’ll often want to switch to Play Rough due to Super Fang’s lower damage output. Mawile isn't the best Fighting-type resist, despite Mawile's Fairy-type, due to it being part Steel-type, especially against wallbreakers such as Primeape and Passimian. It furthermore doesn't have a very good matchup against Psychic-types, even with it's Steel-typing, due to it's dismal Special Defense, allowing Pokemon such as Choice Specs Mesprit to 2HKO with Psychic.

Similarly, Ground-type checks such as Mesprit and Weezing can help with Ground-types such as Golurk and Torterra. Furthermore, Gurdurr appreciates Mawile's ability to soften Psychic-types such as Mesprit and Musharna, along with Weezing (but you just said in the last paragraph that Mawile isn't a good Psychic check), while Magmortar appreciates Mawile's ability to cripple Special Defense Walls such as Audino and Lanturn. Additionally, both can serve as more reliable Fighting-type checks, and Mawile even offers a Dark-type resist for Mesprit. Psychic- and Ghost-types such as Oricorio-G, Alolan Raichu, and Haunter appreciate Mawile’s ability to deal with Dark-types, which can allow them to more easily set up late-game. Mawile can be run as a Swords Dance sweeper, but it can be hard to find any chances to set up due to its frailness. Swords Dance furthermore forces Mawile to replace Fire Blast for Swords Dance, which would require all Steel-types to be taken out first, meaning you would need a reliable counter to Steel-types, or Probopass, to trap them leaves Mawile suceptible to being walled by Steel-Types. It can also take out Sucker Punch, but loses out on priority, making it even easier to revenge kill. Thunder Punch is an alternate coverage option that allows Mawile to hit Qwilfish, and is boosted by Sheer Force, and Rock Slide is another coverage option that hits incoming Fire-types such as Magmortar and Pyroar, but can only be taken advantage of on a predicted switch, and both of these, again, require the loss of Fire Blast or Sucker Punch (make this sentence into 2 im thinking). Mawile’s defensive set can run Pain Split for a somewhat reliable form of recovery, but suffers from the 4 moveslot syndrome(i am a new player and do not know what that means). With a decent amount of Special Attack investment, Mawile can serve as a decent lure for Physical Walls due to its great special movepool. This includes moves such as Flash Cannon for Weezing, Grass Knot for Carracosta, and Focus Blast for Aggron and Probopass, but they are generally useless otherwise and only hinder Mawile due its loss in Attack EVs(what attack EVs). Finally, Mawile can be used with minimum Speed on Trick Teams as a decent abuser, although it is pretty weak compared to other Trick Room Abusers, but also does have the advantage of not having a weakness to any form of priority.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Fire-types**: Fire-types such as Magmortar and Pyroar resist both of Mawile’s STABs, and can easily KO with Fire Blast, but don’t appreciate switching into a Play Rough, and are even KOed when combined with the damage or Stealth Rock and Sucker Punch (wow, every single fire type huh). Combusken outspeeds Mawile and resists Sucker Punch, but is OHKOed by Play Rough.

**Ground-types**: Ground-types such as Gastrodon, Palossand, or Torterra can take a hit from Mawile before easily OKHOing in return with their Earth Power or Earthquake, although physically defensive Torterra is the only one that can switch into a Play Rough, and doesn't like taking a Fire Blast (wait if tort is the only one that can take a play rough, then wtf are the other ones taking?). Faster Ground-types such as Golurk and Alolan Dugtrio fear Sucker Punch, but can take one before similarly OHKOing Mawile, or just use it as an opportunity to set up Stealth Rock or a Substitute, respectively. [OVERVIEW]

Mawile is an overall average Pokemon overall, with two decent sets, being able to serve as a wallbreaker or a physical wall. This is thanks to its nice movepool, with decent offensive moves and nice utility moves such as Stealth Rock, along with access to two great abilities in Sheer Force and Intimidate to fulfill these different roles. This is continued with its both offensively and defensively great typing, which furthermore gives it a useful resistance to Stealth Rock and an immunity to Toxic Spikes. When serving as a wallbreaker, Mawile can break through many slower foes such as Drampa and Clefairy, and even certain faster ones such as Alolan Raichu thanks to Sucker Punch. As a physical wall, Mawile can takes hits from many physical Dark-, Grass-, and Normal-types, such as Physical Skuntank, Physical Shiftry, and Stoutland, and either cripple them with Toxic or Knock Off or use the opportunity to set up Stealth Rock. Sadly its stats are a large setback , as outside of its somewhat respectable Attack and Defense stats, Mawile is pretty slow and frail on the Special Defensive side, making it fairly relatively easy to KO for many offensive foes, and can even give it trouble against things like Mixed Shiftry's Leaf Storm. This furthermore leaves it with a lot of competition in both roles, with wallbreakers such as Passimian, Aggron, and Stoutland due to their higher overall damage output, bulk, and Speed, in Passimian and Stoutland's cases. Similarly, other physical walls such as Regirock and Ferroseed can accomplish the same with their own unique aspects such as Regirock’s higher natural bulk and Ferroseed’s Eviolite and access Leech Seed and Spikes, along with both having noticeably higher Special B bulk.

Play Rough serves as Mawile’s main STAB move while also hitting Fighting- and Dark-types such as Gurdurr, and Alolan Raticate, along with and Drampa, for super effective damage. Iron Head gives Mawile a secondary STAB option move that hits some bulky foes such as Regirock and Clefairy super effectively, along with certain Play Rough resistances, such as Weezing, neutrally. Sucker Punch somewhat makes up for Mawile’s low Speed by allowing it to hit faster opponents, such as Alolan Raichu and Mesprit. Fire Blast hits Steel- and Physically Defensive Grass-types like Ferroseed, Gourgeist-XL, and Tangela, which otherwise wall it. such as Ferroseed, Gourgeist-XL, and Tangela.

Sheer Force boosts the majority of Mawile’s moves, barring Sucker Punch, along with removing negating Life Orb’s recoil. This, combined with the 252 EVs in Attack and a Naughty nature, allows Mawile to hit as hard as possible, and gives it the ability to wallbreak as best good as it can. A Naughty nature is preferred so that Fire Blast can still deal a decent amount of damage while still boosting Mawile’s Attack. The 252 Speed EVs allows Mawile to outspeed as much many Pokemon as possible, giving it more offensive pressure. Naive nature can be ran run to outspeed certain Pokemon such as Adamant Golurk and Choice Specs Lanturn, but at the loss of the preferred power that allows Mawile to more easily break through walls easier.

Usage Tips
========

Due to its Mawile's decent Attack stat, Life Orb, and Sheer Force, means Mawile is best utilized through breaking down bulkier opponents, such as Gurdurr and Clefairy. Mawile should very rarely be switched in to take an attack, as because, even resisted attacks such as Mesprit’s Psychic and Lilligant’s Giga Drain still do a lot of damage. Exceptions to this would be switching into attacks that it's immunities immune to like, Dragon- and Poison-type attacks, but even then they often carry coverage for Mawile to fear. Your best bet is to predict a switch into something like Regirock or Clefairy, or lure one in, before doubling into Mawile. It can also switch into a potential Toxic from foes such as Alolan Persian or while the foe is recovering, such as Clefairy’s Soft-Boiled. Alternate options would be to bring it in through a slow pivot user, such as Mesprit's U-turn, or to bring Mawile in after a teammate is KOed. Mesprit can also be used to lure in Skuntank, before using U-turn to bring in Mawile for the a KO. When facing fast opponents, Mawile should usually go for Sucker Punch. , H however, be wary that certain Pokemon like Archeops and Oricorio-G could use this as an opportunity to set up, such as Archeops’s Roost and Oricorio-G’s Substitute or Calm Mind.

Mawile can break down bulkier opponents foes such as Regirock and Drampa, allowing late-game sweepers such as Archeops and Pyroar to come in and more easily clean up for Mawile. Special Attackers such as Magmortar and Drampa can help Mawile deal with physical walls that give Mawile it trouble, while Mawile can help break down special walls. Special Attackers can and also lure in said special walls, which Mawile can double in on. Slow pivot users such as Eelektross and Lanturn can take a hit from opponents before getting Mawile onto the field, supplying decent chip damage in the process. Water-types such as Gastrodon, Swanna, and Lanturn can help with the Ground-types that threaten Mawile, such as Golurk and Palossand, while Mawile can help against bulky Grass-types and special walls. Faster Water-types such as Floatzel can furthermore help pressure Fire-types such as Magmortar and Pyroar. Grass-types such as Lilligant and Shiftry can also help with the Ground-types, along with having a good matchup against Carracosta and other common checks, while Mawile can deal with their common threats such as Ferroseed. Hazard setters such as Qwilfish and Regirock can help weaken foes, making them easier for Mawile to break through. Finally, there is Mesprit, who, depending on the its set, can fulfill multiple of the previously mentioned roles, such as setting up Stealth Rock, supplying a slow U-turn, and breaking through physical walls, along with being able to support Mawile late-game with Healing Wish.

Moves

Stealth Rock limits your opponent’s ability to switch, as it deals a good amount of chip damage every time one of their Pokemon enters the field. Play Rough gives Mawile a reliable STAB attacking option move, most notably against Dark- and Fighting-types such as Alolan Raticate, Absol, and Hitmonchan. Super Fang is Mawile's other form of offensive pressure, as it takes away half of the opponent's current health.; T this helps it break down bulkier foes that don't mind Play Rough such as Regirock, Lanturn, and especially those with reliable recovery, such as Musharna. Super Fang also hits Poison- and Steel-types such as Weezing and Aggron, which resist Play Rough and are immune to Toxic. Toxic is used to whittle down bulkier foes, and can furthermore be stacked with Super Fang. Knock Off is an option over Toxic and helps Mawile cripple Pokemon Eviolite holders such as Eviolite holders like Ferroseed and Bronzor and Choice items users like Mesprit and Stoutland.

Set Details
========

252 EVs in HP and Defense, along with an Impish nature, allows Mawile to take physical attacks as best it can from Dark-, Grass-, and Normal-types such as Physical Skuntank, Physical Shiftry, and Stoutland physical attackers like Skuntank, Shiftry, and Stoutland. Intimidate furthers this, and lets Mawile more easily switch in to take those Physical a Attacks ers by lowering their Attack stat. Leftovers gives Mawile constant residual recovery, making it harder to break through or wear down, and is Mawile's only form of recovery. Rocky Helmet is an alternate choice that furthermore whittles down contact move users such as Skuntank and Stoutland, and is especially helpful against U-turn users such as Mesprit and Liepard, although unfortunately, it makes Mawile easier to wear down due to the lack of residual recovery from Leftovers.

Usage Tips
========

Mawile is best used when switched ing in to take a hit from a Dark-types like Physical Skuntank and Absol, Grass-types like Physical Shiftry and Leafeon, or Normal-types like Stoutland and Alolan Raticate. Most of these Pokemon do very little to Mawile, and will often switch out on the next turn. Mawile can use this turn to set up Stealth Rock, Toxic the incoming opponent foe, or make a predicted double switch into a predicted better matchup. However, be wary of Pokemon with coverage, such as Archeops, and mixed Skuntank, and Shiftry with Earthquake, Fire Blast, and Leaf Storm, respectively, who often just stay in to wear Mawile down until it is KOed. Mawile can also be brought in against physical attackers to take advantage of Intimidate, and furthermore be pivoted back out into a teammate with a better matchup, who would also appreciate the Attack drop from Intimidate. However, be wary of Defiant users like Primeape and Pawniard, both of which just gain an Attack boost when hit by Intimidate. When the opponent is at higher health, Super Fang will often do more than Play Rough, specifically against bulkier foes, so it is usually the better choice between the two offensive moves at that point. However, when the opponent reaches lower health, Super Fang will be weaker, making Play Rough the better option to use. Mawile isn't the best Fighting-type resist, despite Mawile's Fairy-type, due to it being part Steel-type, especially against wallbreakers such as Primeape and Passimian. It furthermore doesn't have a very good matchup against Psychic-types, even with it's Steel-typing, due to it's dismal terrible Special Defense stat, allowing Pokemon such as Choice Specs Mesprit to 2HKO it with Psychic.

Team Options

Similarly, Ground-type checks such as Mesprit and Weezing can help with Ground-types against Ground-types such as Golurk and Torterra. Furthermore, Gurdurr appreciates Mawile's ability to soften bulkier Pokemon such as Weezing, while Magmortar appreciates Mawile's ability to cripple Special Defense Walls such as Audino and Lanturn. Due to Mawile’s lack of reliable recovery, it appreciates teammates that can provide healing for it, such as the previously aforementioned mentioned Audino’s Wish and Mesprit’s Healing Wish, especially if Mawile's chosen item of choice Rocky Helmet is Rocky Helmet.

Mawile can be run used as a Swords Dance sweeper, but it can be hard to find any chances to set up due to its frailness. Swords Dance furthermore forces Mawile to replace Fire Blast for with Swords Dance, which leaves Mawile susceptible to being walled by Steel-Types. It can also take out Sucker Punch, but loses ing out on priority, making es it even easier to revenge kill. Thunder Punch is an alternate alternative coverage option that allows Mawile to hit Qwilfish, and is boosted by Sheer Force, but again at the loss of Fire Blast or Sucker Punch. Rock Slide is another coverage option that hits incoming Fire-types such as Magmortar and Pyroar, but can only be taken advantage of on a predicted switch. Mawile’s defensive set can run Pain Split for a somewhat reliable form of recovery, but can struggles to find a slot in Mawile's moves. With 176 Special Attack EVs, Mawile can serve as a decent lure for Physical Walls due to its great special movepool. This includes moves such as Flash Cannon for Weezing, Grass Knot for Carracosta, and Focus Blast for Aggron and Probopass, but they are generally useless otherwise and only hinder Mawile due its loss in Attack EVs taken out to put into Special Attack EVs. Finally, Mawile can be used with minimum Speed on Trick Room T teams as a decent abuser, although it is weak compared to other Trick Room Abusers, but have s the advantage of not having a weakness to any form of priority.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Fire-types**: Fire-types such as Magmortar and Pyroar resist both of Mawile’s STABs moves, and can easily OHKO Mawile with Fire Blast, but don’t appreciate switching into a Play Rough. The previously mentioned two are even KOed when Play Rough is combined with the damage or Stealth Rock and Sucker Punch. Furthermore, Combusken outspeeds Mawile and resists Sucker Punch, but is OHKOed by Play Rough, while Turtonator can take a Play Rough, although it cannot switch into one, but both also OHKO Mawile with Fire Blast.

However, faster Pokemon on the frailer side such as Archeops, Floatzel, and Oricorio-G have to watch out for Sucker Punch. However Unfortunately, all of these Pokemon can play around Sucker Punch, due to Archeop's access to Roost, Floatzel's Aqua Jet, and Oricorio-G's Substitute.

**Ground-types**: Ground-types such as Gastrodon, Palossand, or and Torterra can take a hit from Mawile before easily OKHOing it in return with their Earth Power or Earthquake respective STAB moves, although physically defensive Torterra doesn't like taking a Fire Blast.

**Steel-types**: Steel-types such as Aggron, Probopass, and Bronzor take little from Mawile's attacks and are even immune to Toxic, with their biggest fear being Super Fang from defensive Mawile, and can KO or use it as an opportunity to set up Stealth Rock. However, certain Steel-types such as Ferroseed and Togedemaru do not like having to take a Fire Blast from offensive Mawile, although Togedemaru can Encore Mawile's defensive set or into a Sucker Punch. Furthermore, Ferroseed and Bronzor do not want to take a Knock Off as because, they do not want to lose their Eviolite.

**Physical Walls**: Physical walls such as Carrcosta, Qwilfish, and Weezing can relatively easily switch into Mawile’s A attacks with relative ease and cripple it through with Scald or Will-O-Wisp Burns or Taunt the defensive set. Similar things can be accomplished through certain walls such as Gourgeist-XL or Tangela, but they fear switching into a Fire Blast, or staying in to take one. They can also easily switch into the defensive set with ease, however but, they do not like a potential Toxic, nor does the previously mentioned Carracosta.

let me know if you have any questions, Jord-e I will get to you soon

Jord-e the main thing I'm seeing from your check is changes that are not strictly better than the original. For example, in the first line with "overall", I personally can't come up with any reasons why one order is better than the other. Or, "fairly" vs. "relatively", both convey the same idea imo. The best change I'd say is at the end of set comments for physical wall, because the original basically says "Pokemon such as Eviolite holders", which doesn't make sense.

**Physical Walls**: Physical walls such as Carrcosta, Qwilfish, and Weezing can switch into Mawile’s Mawile's attacks with relative ease and cripple it with Scald or Will-O-Wisp Burns burns, or Taunt the defensive set. Similar things can be accomplished through certain walls such as Gourgeist-XL or Tangela, but they fear switching into a Fire Blast, or staying in to take one. They can also switch into the defensive set with ease, but they and the previously mentioned Carracosta do not like a potential Toxic. Toxic, nor does the previously mentioned Carracosta.

[OVERVIEW]

Mawile is an overall average Pokemon overall, that is able to serve as a wallbreaker or a physical wall. This versatility is thanks to its nice movepool, with decent offensive and utility moves such as Play Rough, Iron Head, and Stealth Rock, and two great abilities in Sheer Force and Intimidate. Furthermore, Mawile has a great offensive and defensive typing, (comma) which that offers good STAB coverage and a useful resistance to Stealth Rock and an immunity to Toxic Spikes. When serving as a wallbreaker, Mawile can break through many slower foes such as Drampa and Clefairy, and even certain faster ones such as Alolan Raichu thanks to Sucker Punch. As a physical wall, Mawile can take hits from many physical Normal-, Dark-, and Grass-types, such as including Stoutland and the physical variants of Skuntank, Spiritomb, and Shiftry, and either cripple them with Toxic or Knock Off or use the opportunity to set up Stealth Rock. Sadly, Mawile's stats are a large setback,; (semi) though it has as outside of its somewhat respectable Attack and Defense stats, Mawile is pretty slow and specially frail on the special side, making it relatively easy to KO for many offensive foes. These downsides furthermore leave it with a lot of competition in both of its potential roles, with wallbreakers such as Passimian, Aggron, and Stoutland having higher overall damage output, bulk, and Speed, (comma) the latter in Passimian and Stoutland's cases. Similarly, other physical walls such as Regirock and Ferroseed can accomplish the same and even bring their own unique aspects, (comma) such as in Regirock’s higher natural bulk and Ferroseed’s Eviolite and access Leech Seed and Spikes; both also have noticeably higher special bulk.

Moves

Play Rough serves as Mawile’s main STAB move, (comma) and hits Fighting-, Dragon-, and Dark-types such as Gurdurr, Drampa, and Spiritomb for super effective damage. Iron Head gives Mawile a secondary STAB move that hits some bulky foes such as Regirock and Clefairy super effectively, (comma) along with certain Play Rough resistances, such as Weezing, neutrally and certain Fairy-resistant Pokemon like Weezing neutrally. Sucker Punch somewhat makes up for Mawile’s low Speed by allowing it to hit faster opponents, foes such as Alolan Raichu and Mesprit. Fire Blast hits Steel-types and physically defensive Grass-types like Ferroseed, Gourgeist-XL, and Tangela, which otherwise wall it Mawile.

Set Details
========

Sheer Force boosts the majority of Mawile’s moves, (comma) bar Sucker Punch, (comma) and stacks with Life Orb while negating its recoil. This, combined with 252 EVs in Attack and a Naughty nature, allows Mawile to hit as hard as possible, and gives it the ability to wallbreak as good as it can. A Naughty nature is preferred so that Fire Blast can still deal a decent amount of damage while still boosting Mawile’s Attack. 252 Speed EVs allow Mawile to outspeed as many Pokemon as possible, giving it more offensive pressure presence. A Naive nature can be run to outspeed certain Pokemon such as Adamant Golurk and Choice Specs Lanturn, but Mawile prefers extra power to allow it to wallbreak more easily.

Usage Tips
========

Due to its decent Attack stat, Life Orb, and Sheer Force, Mawile is best utilized to break down bulkier opponents, such as Pokemon like Gurdurr and Clefairy. Mawile should very rarely be switched in to take an attack, as even resisted moves such as Mesprit’s Psychic and Lilligant’s Giga Drain still do a lot of damage. Exceptions would be are switching into attacks that it is immune to, such as Dragon- and Poison-type attacks, but even then, (comma) users of those moves those Pokemon often carry coverage for Mawile. Your best bet is to predict or bait a switch into something like Regirock or Clefairy, (comma) or lure one in, before doubling into Mawile. It can also switch into a potential Toxic from foes such as Alolan Persian or while the foe is recovering, such as Clefairy using Soft-Boiled. Alternate options would be are to bring it in through a slow pivot, such as Mesprit's U-turn, or after a teammate is KOed. Mesprit can also be used to lure in Skuntank, (comma) before using U-turn to bring in Mawile for a KO. When facing fast opponents Pokemon, Mawile should usually go for Sucker Punch. However, be wary aware that certain Pokemon could use this as an opportunity to set up, such as Archeops using Roost and Oricorio-G using Substitute or Calm Mind.

Team Options
========

Special attackers can and also lure in said special walls, which Mawile can double in on. Slow pivots users such as Eelektross and Lanturn can take a hit from opponents before getting Mawile onto the field safely, supplying decent chip damage in the process. Water-types such as Gastrodon, Swanna, and Lanturn can help with the Ground-types that threaten Mawile, (comma) such as Golurk and Palossand, and Mawile can help Water-types against bulky Grass-types and special walls. Grass-types such as Lilligant and Shiftry can also help with the Ground-types, (comma) and they have a good matchup against Carracosta and other common checks, and Mawile can deal with their common threats such as Ferroseed. Faster Water-types such as Floatzel can furthermore help pressure Fire-types such as Magmortar and Pyroar. Hazard setters such as Weezing and Regirock can help weaken foes, making them easier for Mawile to break through. Weezing can also serve as an immunity to Ground-types attacks. Finally, there is Mesprit, which, (comma) depending on its set, can fulfill multiple of the previously mentioned roles, such as setting up Stealth Rock, supplying a slow U-turn, or and breaking through physical walls, (comma) depending on its set; Mesprit can also support Mawile late-game with Healing Wish.

Moves

Stealth Rock limits your opponent's ability to switch, as it deals a good amount of chip damage every time one of their Pokemon enters the field. Play Rough gives Mawile a reliable STAB move, most notably against Dark- and Fighting-types such as Spritomb, Alolan Raticate, and Hitmonchan. Super Fang is Mawile's other form of offensive pressure, as it takes away half of the opponent's target's current health; this helps it break down bulkier foes that don't mind Play Rough such as Regirock, Lanturn, and especially those with reliable recovery, (comma) such as Musharna. Super Fang also hits Poison- and Steel-types such as Weezing and Aggron, which resist Play Rough and are immune to Toxic. Toxic is used to whittle down bulkier foes, (comma) and can furthermore be stacked with Super Fang. Knock Off is an option over Toxic and that helps Mawile cripple Eviolite holders like Ferroseed and Bronzor and Choice items users like Mesprit and Stoutland.

Set Details
========

252 EVs in HP and Defense, along with an Impish nature, allow Mawile to best take physical attacks as best it can from physical Dark-, Grass-, and Normal-type attackers such as physical Skuntank, physical Shiftry, and Stoutland. Intimidate furthers helps, and lets Mawile more easily switch in to take those physical attackers by lowering their Attack stats. Leftovers gives Mawile constant recovery, making it harder to break through or wear down, and is Mawile's only form of recovery. Rocky Helmet is an alternate choice that furthermore whittles down contact move users such as Skuntank and Stoutland, (comma) and is especially helpful against U-turn users such as Mesprit and Liepard. Unfortunately, Rocky Helmet makes Mawile easier to wear down due to the lack of residual recovery from Leftovers.

Usage Tips
========

Mawile is best used when switching in to take a hits from Dark-types like physical Skuntank and Absol, Grass-types like physical Shiftry and Leafeon, or and Normal-types like Stoutland and Alolan Raticate. Most of these Pokemon do very little to Mawile, and so will often switch out on the next turn. Mawile can use this turn to set up Stealth Rock, use Toxic on the incoming foe, or make a predicted double switch into a better matchup. However, be wary of Pokemon with coverage on physical attackers, such as Archeops's Earthquake, mixed Skuntank's Fire Blast, and Shiftry's Leaf Storm, who often just stay in to which will wear Mawile down until it is KOed. Mawile can also be brought in against physical attackers to take advantage of Intimidate, (comma) and furthermore be pivoted back out into a teammate with a better matchup, who would also appreciate the Attack drop from Intimidate by activating it and pivoting into a teammate that appreciates it. However, be wary of Defiant users like Primeape and Pawniard, both of which just gain an Attack boost when hit by Intimidate. When the opponent foe is at higher health, Super Fang will often do more than Play Rough, specifically especially against bulkier foes, so it is usually the better choice between the two offensive moves at that point of attack. However, when the opponent foe reaches lower health, Super Fang will be weaker, making Play Rough the better option to use. Mawile isn't the best Fighting-type resist switch-in to Fighting-types, despite Mawile's Fairy-type, due to its Steel typing, especially against wallbreakers such as Primeape and Passimian, (comma) due to its Steel typing. Mawile furthermore doesn't have a very good matchup against Psychic-types, (comma) even with it's Steel typing, due to its terrible Special Defense stat, (comma) allowing Pokemon such as Choice Specs Mesprit to 2HKO it with Psychic.

Team Options
========

Similarly, Ground-type checks to Ground-types such as Mesprit and Weezing can help against Ground-types such as Golurk and Torterra. Furthermore, Gurdurr appreciates Mawile's ability to soften bulkier Pokemon such as Weezing, while Magmortar appreciates Mawile's ability to cripple special walls such as Audino and Lanturn. Additionally, Both can also serve as more reliable Fighting-type checks, and Mawile even offers a Dark-type resistance for Mesprit.

=============

Mawile can be used as a Swords Dance sweeper, but Mawile's its opportunities to set up can be hard to find due to its frailness. Swords Dance furthermore forces Mawile to replace Fire Blast with Swords Dance, which leaves Mawile susceptible to being walled by Steel-types. It can also take out Sucker Punch, but losing out on priority makes it even easier to revenge kill. Rock Slide is a coverage option that hits incoming Fire-types such as Magmortar and Pyroar, but can only be taken advantage of used on a predicted switch, and again at the loss of Fire Blast or Sucker Punch. Mawile's defensive set can run Pain Split for a somewhat reliable form of recovery, but struggles to find a moveslot in Mawile's moves. Finally, Mawile can be used with minimum Speed on Trick Room teams as a decent abuser attacker, and although it is weak compared to other Trick Room abusers, it has the advantage of not having a weakness to any form of priority.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Fire-types**: Fire-types such as Magmortar and Pyroar resist both of Mawile's STAB moves, (comma) and can easily OHKO Mawile with Fire Blast, but they don't appreciate switching into a Play Rough. They previously mentioned two are even KOed when Play Rough is combined with the damage of from Stealth Rock and Sucker Punch. Furthermore, Combusken outspeeds Mawile and resists Sucker Punch, but is OHKOed by Play Rough, and while Turtonator can take a Play Rough, it cannot switch into one.

However, faster Pokemon on the frailer side frailer Pokemon such as Archeops, Floatzel, and Oricorio-G have to watch out for Sucker Punch. Unfortunately, all of these Pokemon can play around Sucker Punch, (comma) due to Archeops's Roost, Floatzel's Aqua Jet, and Oricorio-G's Substitute.

**Ground-types**: Ground-types such as Gastrodon, Palossand, and Torterra can take a hit from Mawile before easily OKHOing it in return with their respective STAB moves, although physically defensive Torterra doesn't like taking a Fire Blast.

However, certain Steel-types such as Ferroseed and Togedemaru do not like having to take a Fire Blast from offensive Mawile, although Togedemaru can use Encore on Mawile's defensive set or the offensive set into a after using Sucker Punch. Furthermore, Ferroseed and Bronzor do not want to take a Knock Off, (comma) as they do not want to lose their Eviolite.

**Physical Walls**: Physical walls such as Carracosta and Weezing can switch into Mawile's attacks with relative ease and cripple it with Scald or Will-O-Wisp burns, (comma) or use Taunt on the defensive set. Similar things can be accomplished through certain walls such as Gourgeist-XL or and Tangela, but they fear switching into a Fire Blast, (comma) or staying in to take one it. They can also switch into the defensive set with ease, but they and the previously mentioned Carracosta do not like a potential Toxic.
