[OVERVIEW]

Mega Scizor thrives thanks to a powerful Bullet Punch, which hits the common Fairy-types, Kyurem-B, and Tyranitar super effectively. With Swords Dance and a powerful priority attack, it does quite well blasting through the opposition. Thanks to a great defensive typing and solid defensive stats, opportunities to set up Swords Dance are fairly easy to come by. This also helps Mega Scizor retain its effectiveness in a metagame where Intimidate is quite common. Mega Scizor's moves tend to have pretty low Base Power, but that ends up somewhat working to its advantage thanks to Technician providing these moves with an extra boost. Bug Bite, its other common attack with somewhat low Base Power, also allows Mega Scizor to take advantage of the ubiquity of healing Berries such as Sitrus, Mago, and Iapapa. However, Mega Scizor is rather slow; although this is somewhat mitigated by its primary attack having priority, if Psychic Terrain is set or the foe resists Steel-type moves, it's fairly easy to capitalize on Mega Scizor's low Speed. Since Psychic Terrain inhibits Mega Scizor's primary way of circumventing its problematic Speed tier, it rarely works on teams with Tapu Lele. Fire-type Pokemon and attacks are the largest obstacles Mega Scizor has to overcome, as they immediately shut it down. **Fire-types**: Mega Scizor has lots of difficulty against Fire-types such as Volcanion, Mega Charizard Y, and Heatran; it is not only unable to hit most even neutrally but also 4x weak to their STAB attacks. Some foes, such as Mega Salamence and Zapdos, will sometimes carry Fire-type coverage moves to help them take on Mega Scizor and Ferrothorn.

**Steel-types**: Mega Scizor deals little damage to most Steel-types thanks to their resistance to both Steel- and Bug-type moves. Celesteela and Genesect are the most threatening, as they have access to Flamethrower, though Aegislash is also difficult for Mega Scizor to deal with thanks to King's Shield sharply lowering its Attack stat.

**Intimidate**: Access to Swords Dance prevents Attack drops from Intimidate being permanent; however, as a physical attacker, Mega Scizor doesn't appreciate having its damage output lowered by foes such as Landorus-T and Scrafty.

**Spectral Thief**: Swords Dance boosts become far more dangerous to attain when a Marshadow is healthy on the opponent's team, as Marshadow can use Spectral Thief to steal them and use the boosts against Scizor's team. Looks solid overall. You're one of the main experts when it comes to Scizor so there's not much to be done here, but QC 1/2 after the following edits:

Overview:
  • I'm more just being mindful of the "outsiders" from DOU that read these, but the overview should explicitly say that Mega Scizor is incompatable with an ally Tapu Lele, due to Scizor's reliance on priority Bullet Punch. Bringing a Tapu that isn't Lele is usually sufficient for Scizor to be able to beat opposing Leles - just don't build a team around Scizor + Lele.
Set Details:
  • The given set is ideal, as it hits relevant and well thought out benchmarks. However, some players do opt for faster and more offensive spreads as they see fit (e.g. Miltankmilk uses EVs: 40 HP / 252 Atk / 216 Spe Adamant Nature for maximum power, and enough speed to outpace Modest Volcanion)
Other Options:
  • Although it hasn't seen mainstream use yet, regular Scizor can basically run the same set as Mega Scizor without taking a mega slot while being able to hold an item. However, the drop in power, bulk and speed is noticable.
  • (Optional): Make a judgement call on this one, but Feint doesn't feel OO worthy to me. Scizor's moveslots are already pretty tied up as is, given it needs BP to patch its low speed, Bug Bite/Knock Off as a secondary coverage move, Swords Dance to actually become a relevant threat, and Protect because this is DOU. I really don't see any room to fit feint into the mix.
Checks and Counters:
  • Where you mention steel-types, just mention that said steel-types also tend to wall Scizor's STAB attacks.
  • (Optional): This is probably something the QC team should discuss, but I almost feel that "Spectral Thief" is a relevant tag for setup sweepers like Scizor. Marshadow basically forces a boosted sweeper to BP the Marshadow or risk having its boost stolen. If you think about a matchup like Scizor + [filler] versus Marshadow + Amoonguss, this is a very realistic scenario. But, we can address this later too so don't treat it as a mandatory edit for QC 1/2.
 
I suggest adding Heatran as a good teammate for Mega Scizor. It can remove most Steel types, and it can switch in on Fire-type attacks targeting Scizor for a Flash Fire boost. If both Heatran and Scizor are on the field, Heatran can also act as a deterrent for spread Fire-type moves, heat wave and eruption, which are quite common.

**Spectral Thief**: Swords Dance boosts become far more dangerous to attain when a Marshadow is healthy on the opponent's team, as Marshadow can use Spectral Thief to steal them and use the boosts against Scizor's team. However, if Marshadow is even slightly weakened, a +2 Bullet Punch is likely to get the KO.
