OU Tyranitar (Mega Stealth Rock)

[SET]
name: Stealth Rock
move 1: Stealth Rock
move 2: Pursuit
move 3: Crunch
move 4: Fire Punch / Earthquake
item: Tyranitarite
ability: Sand Stream
nature: Adamant
evs: 168 HP / 252 Atk / 88 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Stealth Rock provides good consistent damage, and Mega Tyranitar can set it up reliably due to its good bulk and capability to Pursuit trap common Defoggers such as both Latios and Latias. Pursuit is able to trap things like Gengar, Mega Alakazam, Latios, Latias, and Choice-locked Tapu Lele to ensure that Mega Tyranitar KOes them. Crunch is Mega Tyranitar's best STAB move, being able to hit any nonresistant target very hard. It's used over Stone Edge because Stone Edge does not pressure common Defoggers as well as Crunch does. Fire Punch is used to hit Mega Scizor, Ferrothorn, Kartana, Skarmory, and Celesteela while maintaining the ability to hit Mega Mawile and Magearna. Earthquake can be used to deal more damage to Mega Mawile, Heatran, and Magearna. Ice Punch can surprise Landorus-T on a switch in and effectively OHKO it.
Set Details
========

Tyranitarite lets Tyranitar Mega Evolve. The 252 Attack EVs in conjunction with an Adamant nature allow Tyranitar to hit as hard as possible. 88 Speed EVs let Mega Tyranitar outspeed Mega Mawile, and the rest of the EVs are put in HP to make Mega Tyranitar as bulky as possible. Sand Stream boosts Mega Tyranitar's Special Defense stat further. An alternative spread for Stealth Rock Mega Tyranitar would be 248 HP / 24 Atk / 68 Def / 64 SpA / 72 SpD / 32 Spe with a Brave nature and Ice Beam. It has enough Speed EVs to outspeed uninvested Magearna and Alomomola, enough Defense EVs to survive a Kartana's Sacred Sword from full HP, and enough Special Defense investment to survive a Focus Blast from Mega Charizard Y. Overall, this insane bulk allows it to pivot into many threats during a match. It has enough Special Attack EVs to OHKO offensive Landorus-T with Ice Beam, and the additional bulk investment necessitates the use of Ice Beam over Ice Punch to be able to effectively lure and KO defensive Landorus-T.
Usage Tips
========

Try to get Mega Tyranitar in as fast as possible to be able to set up Stealth Rock, forcing in common Defoggers that get trapped by Pursuit. After setting up Stealth Rock, you should use Mega Tyranitar to punch holes in the opposing team. Use Pursuit on a predicted switch if it is more beneficial than getting up Stealth Rock or just straight attacking. Also use it whenever Tyranitar is up against Mega Alakazam, Latios, Latias, or Gengar to guarantee Mega Tyranitar KOes them. Mega Tyranitar can switch in on Pokemon such as Kyurem-B and Mega Charizard X because of its added bulk after Mega Evolving.
Team Options
========

Keldeo makes for a great partner because Mega Tyranitar Pursuit traps Psychic- and Ghost-types, which are common switch-ins to Keldeo. Pokemon that can switch in on Ground-types help Mega Tyranitar a ton because it is weak to Ground-type attacks; Pokemon such as Celesteela, Landorus-T, Tangrowth, and Tapu Bulu work well to take on Ground-types. Tapu Bulu can switch in on both Water- and Fighting-type attacks because it resists both, and it can support Mega Tyranitar by giving it passive recovery as well as halving the damage from opposing Earthquake; however, it also weakens Mega Tyranitar's own Earthquakes. Choice Scarf Landorus-T, Tapu Koko, and Rotom-W can all bring in Mega Tyranitar with Volt Switch or U-turn, providing momentum and a potential free turn to get up Stealth Rock. Tapu Koko pairs especially well with Fire Punch variants, as Fire Punch can destroy some common Grass-types that stand in Tapu Koko's path such as Ferrothorn. Rotom-W especially works well because it invites in Latios and Latias, which Mega Tyranitar then proceeds to Pursuit trap. Pokemon that can destroy other pesky Grass-types such as Heatran, Kyurem-B, Volcarona, and Flyinium Z Landorus-T can greatly aid Mega Tyranitar and its VoltTurn partners.

Fire Punch can be used to hit Mega Scizor, Skarmory, Celesteela and Ferrothorn for more damage while maintaining the ability to hit Mega Mawile and Magearna.
I’d mention Ferrothorn right after Scizor as it’s one of the main targets. Skarmory eats Fire Punch easily after Rocks so just say it pressures ir when trying to Defog away rocks
Mega Tyranitar can switch in on certain Pokemon because of its added bulk easier than normal Tyranitar.
Mention some examples here
  • Add Ice Beam in Moves to surprise Landorus-T switchins
  • In Set Details, mention Sand Stream and the SpDef boost it gives to mtar. Also mention a spread of EVs: 248 HP / 24 Atk / 68 Def / 64 SpA / 72 SpD / 32 Spe, outspeeds 0 Speed Magearna and Alomomola with enough Defense to eat Kartanas Sacred Sword and SpA to always OHKO Offensive Landos because it eats eq. SpDef for Mega Charizard Y Focus Blast
QC 1/3

I'd definitely mention Kartana in Fire Punch targets, because otherwise it can actually setup on T-tar.

Mention Choice locked Tapu Lele as a useful Pursuit target.

Dont use Pursuit much, only use it in certain match ups against things like Mega Alakazam, Latios, Latias, and Gengar unless you guarantee to kill the foe.
Meh I don't think this is really true. There are plenty of circumstances where using Pursuit on a predicted switch for extra chip can be game changing. I would mention how clicking Pursuit on a predicted switch out can be beneficial, but only if what ever is coming in can pretty much easily eat T-tar's hits or if SR are already up for example. Basically situations where T-tar loses less from clicking Pursuit for the extra chip as opposed to just attacking/rocking. Can be nice to Pursuit shit like Scarf Gren locked into Ice Beam or Ash Gren locked into Pulse vs doing like 20% to an incoming fat Lando-t or something.

Landorus-T, Tapu Koko, and Tornadus-T can all bring in Mega Tyranitar with Volt Switch or U-Turn, providing momentum and a potential free turn to get up Stealth Rock.
Mention something more relevant than Torn-T.

QC 2/3 good work

move 2: Crunch
move 3: Pursuit
minor thing, reorder this to move 2: Pursuit, move 3: Crunch, the focus of the set is its ability to combine setting hazards with trapping hazard removers. Normally move order doesn't matter, but this lets you talk about Pursuit right after you highlight it in the intro of the Moves section
Crunch is Mega Tyranitar's best STAB move, being able to hit any non-resist very hard.
Maybe expand a bit on why you use Crunch over Stone Edge to give this sentence a bit more depth
Ice Beam can surprise Landorus-Therian on a switch in and effectively OHKO it.
0- SpA Tyranitar-Mega Ice Beam vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Landorus-Therian: 272-320 (85.2 - 100.3%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO
-1 252+ Atk Tyranitar-Mega Ice Punch vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Landorus-Therian: 312-368 (97.8 - 115.3%) -- 87.5% chance to OHKO

0- SpA Tyranitar-Mega Ice Beam vs. 252 HP / 24 SpD Landorus-Therian: 260-308 (68 - 80.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
-1 252+ Atk Tyranitar-Mega Ice Punch vs. 252 HP / 216+ Def Landorus-Therian: 228-272 (59.6 - 71.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

0- SpA Tyranitar-Mega Ice Beam vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Zygarde: 232-276 (64.8 - 77%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
252+ Atk Tyranitar-Mega Ice Punch vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Zygarde: 364-432 (101.6 - 120.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Imo Ice Punch over Ice Beam in Moves, leave ice beam for the alt spread
An alternative spread for Mega Tyranitar would be 248 HP / 24 Atk / 68 Def / 64 SpA / 72 SpD / 32 Spe, it has enough Speed EVs to outspeed 0 Speed Magearna and Alomomola while it also has enough Defense EVs to live a Kartana's Sacred Sword from full HP. The Special Defense EVs allow it to live a Focus Blast from Charizard Y from full HP, and it has enough Special Attack EVs to OHKO defensive Landorus-T with Ice Beam.
Restructure this section a bit:
  • Mention this is with a Brave nature, not an Adamant one
  • The SpA investment is actually for offensive Lando-T, not defensive Lando-t
  • Combine the bulk sentences: "it has enough Speed EVs to outspeed uninvested Magearna and Alomomola, enough Defense EVs to survive a Kartana's Sacred Sword from full HP, and enough Special Defense investment to survive a Focus Blast from Mega Charizard Y. Overall, this insane bulk allows it to pivot into many threats during a match. [worth highlighting past just surviving 4x attacks] The Special Attack investment allows it to OHKO offensive Landorus-T with Ice Beam and OHKO defensive Landorus-T more than half of the time after Stealth Rock, and it's able to take even Earth Plate Landorus-T's Earthquake from full HP, allowing it to act as an effective Landorus-T lure." Feel free to reword this however you'd like.
64 SpA Tyranitar-Mega Ice Beam vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Landorus-Therian: 320-380 (100.3 - 119.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO
64 SpA Tyranitar-Mega Ice Beam vs. 252 HP / 24 SpD Landorus-Therian: 312-368 (81.6 - 96.3%) -- 56.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

Landorus-T, Tapu Koko, and Rotom-Wash can all bring in Mega Tyranitar with Volt Switch or U-Turn, providing momentum and a potential free turn to get up Stealth Rock.
Specify Choice Scarf Landorus-T here, since I don't think many teams would want to run defensive Lando-T + this set. Also mention that Tapu Koko pairs better with Fire Punch variants of this set, since Ttar needs Fire Punch to threaten the Grass-type mons that typically come in on Koko like Ferrothorn. Rotom-W is a good one to mention since latis like to come in on it. Might be worth adding in teammates able to handle defensive grass-types like Tangrowth, Amoong, and Mega Venu right after this section, since those mons seem to be really annoying to the pivot mons you mentioned + mega-ttar

Nice job man, QC 3/3

Yo, you mention "It has enough Special Attack EVs to OHKO offensive Landorus-T with Ice Beam." in the Set Details section, though Ice beam isn't anywhere in the moves/set section, should likely be removed.

Pokemon that can destroy other pesky Grass-types such as Heatran, Kyurem-B, Volcarona, and Flyinium Z Landorus-T can greatly aid Mega Tyranitar and its VoltTurn partners.

make sure you're using this to implement gp checks http://spo.ink/gpvideo also when de-formatting, click the Tx button, don't manually make the text black again. that can lead to bbcode disasters

Set Details
========

Tyranitarite lets
Tyranitar Mega Evolve.
Usage Tips
========

========

Pokemon that can destroy other pesky Grass-types such as Heatran, Kyurem-B, Volcarona, and Flyinium Z Landorus-T can greatly aid Mega Tyranitar and its VoltTurn partners.
thanks, implemented.
