Pokemon Matchmaking

| Re-Approved by Raseri and hollywood | Banner provided by Cretacerus | Format stolen from DarkNostalgia | Thanks to Can-Eh-Dian for the original thread

All Pokemon are unable to function effectively without their checks and counters gone, which is where their teammates come in. These partners are capable of dismantling multiple Pokemon proving a threat to their teammates, providing invaluable support and thus are often seen as the heart of the team.
This project aims to brainstorm various ideal and effective partners to various Pokemon that may range from metagame defining Pokemon to more underrated threats.

Procedure

Every week, I will nominate a Pokemon for discussion of potential partners and submissions. In that week, you will have the chance to submit any good partners for that chosen Pokemon, and after the course of the week I will choose the best partner(s) for that chosen Pokemon and put it into the archive. People that manage to get into the archive multiple times with good submissions will be let into the Hall of Fame.

Rules

1. Stick with things on the viability rankings. Pokemon such as Skiploom or Loudred which are not viable should not be nominated at all.
2. Reservations are perfectly welcome. However, in your reservation post you must state when you will be able to get your reservation done. This time frame must be no longer than 24 hours. After this time has expired, other users can take your reservation and do it for themselves. If you do not state a time frame your reservation expires in exactly two hours.
3. Don't theorymon. Post Pokemon that you have experience with, or have seen it have quite some use, don't pull Pokemon out of your ass that you think will work well. Have some experience first please.
4. Explain how and why the Pokemon you chose works well. For example, offensive synergy in terms of checks and counters or defensive synergy in terms of typing and checking threats.
5. Be nice to others with your posts and only post meaningful things. One-liners clutter up the thread, as do random memes.
6. Calcs are nice, but not compulsory.
7. Enjoy :)
8. ONE PARTNER PER POST PLEASE!!!

Glad to see this back, nice work NV n_n

Sawk @ Choice Band
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- Knock Off
- Zen Headbutt
- Stone Edge/Earthquake

Anyway, Sawk makes a great partner for offensive Audino because of how they can weaken each other's checks so that one of them can finish up the opponents team. Sawk, in particular, can easily dispatch of steel types and poison types with Close Combat and Zen Headbutt/Earthquake respectively which lets Audino become much more threatening in the late game once it starts boosting.

Rhydon @ Eviolite
Ability: Lightning Rod
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Earthquake
- Rock Blast
- Megahorn

What it does: Rhydon Synergises well with Audino as it allows audino more opportunities to setup. This is possible as rhydon is a consistent switch in to the general threats towards Audino such as Skuntank and mawile, probo, birds, etc... This pokemon also helps in taking out opposing Audinos/Bulky Sdef mons. The SD+CM Synergy is a powerful threat to playstyles like balance and stall/bulky offense, because Don will outspeed 99.9% of bulky offense/balance and every stall team. Henceforth outspeeding and breaking them down easily allowing for Audino to have to boost less.

Playstyle Synergy: Rhydon and Audino plays up to a great balance or bulky offense core. These are two bulky setup mons that are equally dangerous in their own rights. They both get a plethora of coverage moves to help one-another plow through teams.

Alternate EV Spread: An alternate EV Spread of 252 HP / 16+ Atk / 32 Def / -Spa / 116 Sdef / 96 Spe can be used for a slower/bulkier wallbreaker which is more suitable for bulky offense, whereas the first mentioned spread is more offense/balance oriented.

Stunfisk @ Leftovers
Ability: Static
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpA
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Stealth Rock
- Earth Power
- Toxic
- Discharge

With it's unique typing and great bulk Stunfisk can easily come in on poison and steels such as Klinklang, Skuntank and Mawile which threaten Mega-Audino, then proceed to threaten them out with earth power. With static you can spread around the yellow magic without even attacking, allowing Mega-Audino to deal with these mons later due to their reduced speed with an even greater chance to para Klinklang due to gear grind hitting twice. It also can toxic Musharna which offensive Mega-Audino struggles to deal with, crippling that for the remainder of the game while giving support with rocks and walking all over xatu which, if cm, Mega-Audino can struggle with.

In return Mega-Audino can lure in mons which Stunfisk struggles with such as Vileplume with fire blast and Rhydon and Piloswine with grass knot/surf.
252+ Atk Klinklang Gear Grind (2 hits) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Stunfisk: 60-72 (14.2 - 17%) -- possible 9HKO after Leftovers recovery
+1 252+ Atk Klinklang Gear Grind (2 hits) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Stunfisk: 90-108 (21.3 - 25.5%) -- possible 5HKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ Atk Skuntank Poison Jab vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Stunfisk: 46-54 (10.9 - 12.7%) -- possibly the worst move ever
252+ Atk Life Orb Sheer Force Mawile Iron Head vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Stunfisk: 73-86 (17.2 - 20.3%) -- possible 7HKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ Atk Life Orb Sheer Force Mawile Play Rough vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Stunfisk: 165-195 (39 - 46.2%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

0 SpA Stunfisk Earth Power vs. 136 HP / 0 SpD Klinklang: 186-222 (63 - 75.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
0 SpA Stunfisk Earth Power vs. 16 HP / 252 SpD Skuntank: 174-206 (49.5 - 58.6%) -- 73.8% chance to 2HKO after Black Sludge recovery
0 SpA Stunfisk Earth Power vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Mawile: 264-312 (109.5 - 129.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Also s/o SilverReaper21 for making me use grammar for once

Shaneghoul , you didn't use 160 hp KK. :[
Max hp gives me more physical bulk :o

I'm sorry but dd rhydon (or any rhydon for that matter) is not a switch into offensive mawile or a probo D:
252+ Atk Life Orb Sheer Force Mawile Iron Head vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Eviolite Rhydon: 211-250 (59.9 - 71%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
252+ SpA Probopass Flash Cannon vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Eviolite Rhydon: 252-296 (71.5 - 84%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

And who the fuck runs offensive probo, lmao

Defensive probo doesn't beat most mdino sets so i'm assuming if ur sending probo in on audino it's gonna be offensive, btw rhydon still dies

oh, riperoni in pepperoni i guess, still a consistent switch into like, defensive taunt wile and skunk/other poisons. And Klinklang

and that's if you don't just click Fblast.

and that's if you don't just click Fblast.
The point is Rhydon is being used to clear counters out the way for M-Audino, a +1 Klingklang doesn't give Audino any chance to fire off a fire blast, Shaneghoul is merely showing how Rhydon performs at taking hits from M-Audino's counters and clears them to potentially allow a sweep. Let's stop bickering.

My contribution:

Musharna @ Leftovers
Ability: Synchronize
EVs: 240 HP / 252 Def / 16 SpD
Bold Nature
- Calm Mind
- Psychic
- Moonlight
- Heal Bell

Musharna provides a cool little calm mind core with M-Audino to really pressure your opponent, particularly in a meta saturated with physically defensive mons like Garbodor and Rhydon to stop the likes of Tauros, Klinklang and Archeops. It also provides Heal Bell support for M-Audino, since you've lost that ability in using an offensive set making yourself vulnerable to a simple toxic. Musharna switches in simply on the majority of M-Audino's counters such as Muk, Garbodor, Weezing, and it also handles the likes of Mawile, Rhydon, and Haunter (depending on matchup). Checks/counters it doesn't account for are Klinklang and Skuntank, which is where Rhydon comes in from previous in this thread.

Scyther @ Eviolite | Technician

Swords Dance / Roost / U-turn / Aerial Ace

Bulky SD Scyther really appreciates pokemon like Klinklang, Ferroseed, and Rhydon being lured in by Audino's coverage and then allowing Scyther to have much more free reign on the opposing team. Scyther also weakens opposing Calm Mind pokemon that can usually beat Mega Audino 1 on 1 due to Psyshock hitting MegaDino on its non-boosted side

Honestly Chicken is like the single best offensive MegaDino Partner that there is. The only thing scarier than a +1Spa +1SDef Dino is one wiht increased Speed and a Sub, and Busken is the most reliable passer there is. It turns MegaDino from a powerful wallbreaker into a scary late game cleaner, and with Audino's regenerator and immense bulk multiple passes can be attempted. Furthermore, they have really powerful offensive synergy. Combusken can easily tear down Bulky Steels in the early game giving a Fire Blast-Less Audino the option to run Psychic or Surf to smash poisons. On the other side, Audino with Grass Knot can easily blast through bulky Rock and Water types to allow offensive Busken to clean in the late game. I find that Offensive Busken + Max HP Dino, or Bulky Busken + Offensive Speedy Dino work best, but yah v cool

Quagsire!

Quagsire @ Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Att / 252 Def
Relaxed Nature
- Earthquake
- Scald
- Recover
- Yawn / Toxic

Quagsire's typing allows it to resist many types of attacks making it an amazing tank/support Pokemon in NU. Both Quagsire and this Audino's set in particular account for each other's weaknesses since Fire Blast takes care of Grass types that threaten Quagsire and Quagsire can be used to scare any Steel or Poison types that threaten Audino. Quagsire's decently high base Att stat (85) allows it to threaten out any Steel and Poison types that threaten Audino out as Earthquake would hit them really hard. Scald is there to potentially burn high damage physical attackers (tauros, archeops, kabutops) and also those said Steel and Poison types since most of them are Physical attackers (Mawile, Klinklang, Garbodor, Skuntank). Both Recover and Leftovers give Quagsire a reliable source of recovery. Lastly, Toxic can be used on the bulky Pokemon (Piloswine, Lanturn, Tangela) and also any sweepers (Samurott, Carracosta, Jynx) while Yawn can also be used to force a switch. This set lacks Heal Bell support and also counters to Weezing so the Musharna from the earlier post would come into play.

0 Atk Quagsire Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 160+ Def Garbodor: 168-200 (46.1 - 54.9%) -- 60.5% chance to 2HKO
0 Atk Quagsire Earthquake vs. 136 HP / 0 Def Klinklang: 168-200 (56.9 - 67.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
0 Atk Quagsire Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Mawile: 216-254 (89.6 - 105.3%) -- 31.3% chance to OHKO
0 Atk Quagsire Earthquake vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Muk: 240-284 (68.1 - 80.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO (Without Assault Vest)

Brawlfest's combusken. I've been testing it and can confirm that fast offensive megadino is pretty strong.
