Alolan Marowak

Alolan Marowak counters literally everything that gives Alomomola a hard time. Tapu koko? Check. Thundurus? Check. Mega Venasaur? Check. Tapu bulu? Check. Everything else in the world? Check. I mean, its literally is mandotoary when using alomomola on any time, and it also admires wish greatly as it has no recovery of its own, not even leftovers. Its a very good glue for all mola's out there.
If you are going to keep contributing to projects please get into the habit of posting sets on your submissions. This is at least the third time you have done this, and without a set I don't even know what you are submitting 'cause this tells me nothing about Marowak's choice of moves, EVs etc.

Also edit it into your post rather than replying to this with it

Reserving mega sableye

Sableye-Mega @ Sablenite
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 248 HP / 112 Def / 144 SpD / 4 Spe
Careful Nature
- Knock Off
- Will-O-Wisp
- Protect
- Recover
Mega Sableye is an excellent partner for Alomomola. Alomomola appreciates hazards being bounced off of the field as they deter regenerator. It also gets crippled by taunt thanks to its low Special Attack stat, which Mega Sableye bounces back. Mega Sableye also bounces back annoying moves like Toxic( which prevents it from staying in for very long) and will-o-wisp(which deters Leftovers recovery and Alomomola has protect. It also takes very little from Knock Off and can proceed to burn opponents which are not knocked off. In return, Alomomola checks irritating fires for Mega Sableye. The ev spread on Sableye helps to deal vs protean greninja(avoids the 2hko from life orb ice beam) and can block spikes.

Tangrowth @ Assault Vest
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
- Giga Drain
- Knock Off
- Earthquake
- Hidden Power Ice

This helps alolamola with the regen core being able to take hits and switch out. These 2 mons are used on stall and have a niche for stall to be used. Tang helps alolamola with spdef side since its weak to special mon likes koko and other mon. Mola helps with tang being weak to fire and ice being able to eat up fire and ice type hits

Amoonguss

Amoonguss @ Black Sludge
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 248 HP / 44 Def / 216 SpD
Calm Nature
- Spore
- Giga Drain
- Clear Smog
- Hidden Power Fire

This is a classic and basic Regenerator core with the mushroom resisting Electric and Grass attacks Alomomola hates so much. Amoonguss also absorbs Toxic Spikes, which murder the pink fish.
The mushroom doesn't take the Mega slot, thus allowing you to pick another Mega suited for Stall teams.

Chansey @ Eviolite
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 SpD
Bold Nature
- Soft-Boiled
- Seismic Toss
- Aromatherapy
- Stealth Rock / Toxic / Thunder Wave

Two fat pink blobs! Alomomola and Chansey both fit quite well on stall teams. Chansey provides a special wall that can absorb strong special attacks aimed at Alomomola, especially from Electric-types like Thundurus and Tapu Koko. Chansey also provides valuable utility in Stealth Rocks which punish the switches Alomomola forces; and Aromatherapy, which can cure Alomomola of status, especially Toxic. It also provides a way to spread Toxic, so Alomomola is free to run Knock Off if it wants. In return, Alomomola checks stuff that Chansey doesn't like, such as scarf/physical Pheromosa, Keldeo, and a plethora of other physical attackers due to its high physical bulk and ability to spread burns with Scald.

No Heatran submission. Sad!

Heatran @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Magma Storm
- Stealth Rock
- Taunt
- Earth Power / Toxic

Heatran has excellent type synergy with Alomomola, with it covering the Grass-types which give it trouble while Alomomola covers the Water-types that give it trouble. Furthermore, Heatran benefits heavily from Alomomola's wish support, which helps it remedy it's lack of recovery nicely and allows it to check things repeatedly on a more consistent basis. It provides a solid offensive presence to make up for Alomomola's passiveness. Alternative movesets such as BloomTran can be used too.

Anyway, results will be up very shortly.

Toxapex @ Black Sludge / Rocky Helmet
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 232 Def / 24 SpD
Bold Nature
- Scald
- Recover
- Toxic / Toxic Spikes
- Haze

Toxapex and Tangrowth form a very solid Regenerator core that's extremely difficult to take down because of the defensive synergy they both have. Toxapex is capable of switching into 4 of 5 of Tangrowth's weaknesses (Fire, Bug, Grass and Ice) and Tangrowth is capable of taking strong Ground and Electric attacks from the likes of Zygarde and Tapu Koko. Toxapex also has access to Haze to remove boosts from set-up sweepers that take advantage of Tangrowth such as Zard X, Volcarona and Pheromosa.

Heatran @ Grassium Z
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Magma Storm
- Earth Power
- Solar Beam
- Taunt

1/3 of the fwg core. This helps tang by being able to be able to come to fire moves and stuff like zard x and y (if zard x doesnt have eq) and being able to kill zard x with earth power and tang helps tran by being able to come into water types and being able to kill then with giga drain or leaf storm and come into hits that tran is weak to

Marowak-Alola @ Thick Club
Ability: Lightning Rod
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Shadow Bone
- Flare Blitz
- Bonemerang
- Stealth Rock
Marowak can wallbreak for Tangrowth. It can check Pokemon like Pheromosa and Mega Scizor, and get rocks up for it. Tangrowth can check pokemon like Greninja-Ash, Keldeo, Zygarde etc. It can also knock off irritating items for marowak.

Reserving Scarf Nihilego
Why so many fat mons ;_;

Lilly (Nihilego) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Power Gem
- Sludge Wave
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Thunderbolt

Tangrowth is a pretty cool pick for Bulky Offenses due to its bulk and decent typing, so I decided that rather than going for another fat mon that would cover its weakness I'd pair it with an offensive check for mons that could threaten it. Scarf Nihilego is able to check a lot of threats to Tangrowth, namely Pinsir-Mega, Charizard-Mega X and Y, Volcarona, Z-Fly Salamence and Gyarados, SD-Bulu, Tapu Lele, unboosted Pheromosa, the rare Mega-Bee and a few others I can't recall. It also provides some nice role compression with its nice speed tier coupled with a Choice Scarf and can even absorb t-spikes that would otherwise pressure Tangrowth

Keldeo @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 HP / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hydro Pump
- Surf
- Secret Sword
- Icy Wind / Hidden Power Electric

Keldeo and Tangrowth have good type synergy, with Tangrowth checking Electric, Grass, and Water types that Keldeo hates like Tapu Fini, Tapu Bulu, and Tapu Koko while Keldeo can take Pokemon such as Heatran, Volcarona, and Weavile that Tangrowth hates. Tangrowth can consistently pivot into things that threaten Keldeo thanks to Regenerator, therefore making sure that Keldeo stays around.

Alomomola

Alomomola @ Leftovers
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 36 HP / 220 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Wish
- Protect
- Scald
- Toxic / Knock Off

A basic Regenerator core with the added benefit of Wish in order to pick Leaf Storm over Giga Drain on Tangrowth for the extra power. Wish helps a third member of the core without Regenerator or other ways to recover HP (i.e. a Fire type such as Heatran). Too bad Slowking is not viable for now in OU, otherwise I would have picked it over Alomomola.

Gyarados

Gyarados @ Flyinium Z
Ability: Moxie
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall
- Bounce
- Taunt

I definitely have to agree with Leooo_33 that the partnerships this week are a bit to passive for my taste, stuck in the vibe of the past few weeks it seems. However, Gyarados and I plan to change that. I see AV tangrowth as an offensive pivot who can create switches for gyarados, and bail Gyarados out if your opponent brings in a mon that can threaten Gyarados out - creating consistent pressure on your opponent.

How Gyarados Helps Tangrowth

Tangrowth is best utilized as a pivot, which means it likes to switch in and out a lot. However, it can't do this if it's forced to consistently take super effective hits. This is where the offensive presence of Gyarados comes in. Mons that usually force Tangrowth out like Heatran and Pheromosa are brushed aside by this killer shrimp. Just in general Gyarados has great dual stab allowing for Gyarados to be able to beat a large proportion of the meta, which means Gyarados can consistently apply pressure to almost any mon used to check tangrowth. This frees Tangrowth up to switch in and out more throughout the game, allowing the Bulky Offensive team these two would be paired together on to function more effectively.

How Tangowth Helps Gyarados

Gyarados applies pressure, and Tangrowth provides Gyarados with a safe way out of a bad match up. Mons that have the ability to threaten Gyarados like Tapu Koko and Rotom-W are just a free switch in to Tangrowth. Then Tangrowth is free to go for a knock off or double into something else keeping up the offensive momentum Gyarados had provided; allowing for the team to function at its maximum capacity. Tangrowth is exceptionally good at this since it has the ability Regenerator allowing it to come in more than other common pivots, which allows you to keep Gyarados healthier for a longer time period. Tangrowth is also great at luring in fire types like Heatran, which means Gyarados usually can get pretty free set up late game (Bloom Doom can hurt yes, but it's not terrible - and you should have scouted it at this point) allowing for Gyarados to do what it does best: set up a Dragon Dance and sweep.

Conclusion

The combination of Gyarados and Tangrowth provide more offensive teams a great win con, and a solid pivot to stop potential revenge killing - a great duo that's not to be taken lightly.

@ Focus Sash
Ability: Arena Trap
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Memento
- Stone Edge
- Screech

Tangrowth + Dugtrio is cool because Tangrowth lures in some of the best targets for Dug to trap, including CharX, Heatran, and Nihilego. Meanwhile, Tangrowth has an extra spot freed (no EQ) and can target other steels that Dug doesn't like to trap (MScizor, Kartana, and Ferrothorn come to mind) with HP Fire. Finally, the combination of the two have little trouble taking on the most threatening Megas in the tier (Mawile and Gross), as one HP Fire (or, if you're still running EQ on Tang, one of those) brings Megagross and MMawile into range of Dug's EQ. In general, they form an excellent anti-steel duo, which is extremely useful in this meta.

Add CharY for power and the synergy it has with dug and tangrowth (goodbye, electric and water attacks) or for even more fun add Magnezone for all the steel trapping shenanigans.

Slowbro @ Leftovers
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 248 HP / 232 Def / 28 SpD
Bold Nature
- Scald
- Slack Off
- Psyshock
- Thunder Wave / Calm Mind

Slowbro has dropped off this gen, and for good reason, but it does still hold a position as a good partner for AV Tangrowth for a few reasons. It is able to pretty consistently shut down any Mega Metagross variants which lack Thunder Punch (patching up the issue of Tang having to pick between beating stuff like Koko/AshGren etc. consistently and beating stuff like MegaGross consistently) and it is able to eat up any Fire-type moves which give Tangrowth a headache. In exchange, Tangrowth takes on the aforementioned Koko/AshGren which give Slowbro a headache whilst forming a Regenerator core with Slowbro. All in all they just have all-around nice defensive synergy.

Also re: passive week complaints: Alomomola wasn't meant to be a week where I was looking for passive partners. If anything, I wish more people posted offensive partners, because part of the reason I posted it was 'cause I'd been using Alomomola BO the day before that. Anyway w/e onto the next week.

Week 10: Quiver Dance Pheromosa

Pheromosa @ Fightinium Z / Normalium Z / Focus Sash / i honestly don't care which item variant u consider
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Quiver Dance
- Focus Blast
- Bug Buzz
- Ice Beam / Hyper Beam

Seeing how this is probably gonna get banned, why not?

Reserving Tapu Lele

Tapu Lele @ Shed Shell
Ability: Psychic Surge
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Taunt
- Psyshock
- Moonblast
- Hidden Power [Fire]

Pheromosa struggles against Stall and also lacks the coverage to break the likes of Toxapex Venusaur (bulky poison-types). It's also annoyed by priority when attempting to sweep due to its frailty. Tapu Lele helps patching most of these issue by providing a solid Stallbreaker when holding a Shed Shell and also thanks to its strong psychic-type attacks to nuke Toxapex and friends. It can also abuse its Psychic terrain late-game and make Pheromosa immune to priority

Greninja-Ash @ Choice Specs
Ability: Battle Bond
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Water Shuriken
- Dark Pulse
- Hydro Pump
- U-turn

Greninja-Ash and Pheromosa are some of the most threatening mons in OU, with either one of them being able to clean teams, putting lots of pressure on the opponent since they can wear down common checks quite easily. In particular, Greninja-Ash works great with Hyper Beam Pheromosa luring/weakening bulky Water-types and would be Mosa and Ash Ninja checks, the most important being Pex, Venu and Fini. Ash should easily be able to grab a transformation off of this, picking up where Pheromosa left off should it be KO'd. Now Mosa, especially Hyper Beam Mosa, struggles tremendously with Ghost-types because of them resisting/being immune to all of its moves. Greninja takes advantage of them and forces them out or transforms from them. Ash also brings in some mons that Pheromosa forces out, giving it easy set-up opportunities after you U-Turn out of them, such as Chansey, Tangrowth (HP Fire variants only do ~70), and if you bluff Protean Ninja, things like Ferrothorn.

Quiver Dance Pheromosa gets walled by Toxapex, Unaware Clefable and Alolan Marowak so a trapper that can eliminate them is appreciated for it to sweep effectively. Memento can also be used to provide set-up opportunities after Dugtrio has done its job. Choice Band allows Dugtrio to 2HKO its targets like Toxapex, Chansey, Clefable and Tapu Fini more reliably.

Excadrill

Excadrill @ Leftovers
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Rapid Spin
- Earthquake
- Iron Head
- Stealth Rock

Excadrill compresses both the Stealth Rock and Rapid Spin roles into one team slot as well as serving as a solid switch-in to Tapu Koko (or Electrics in general without Hyper Beam), which Quiver Dance Pheromosa has a very hard time KOing.

Zygarde @ Choice Band
Ability: Aura Break
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Thousand Arrows
- Iron Tail
- Outrage
- Extreme Speed

This beast has few check like Landorus-T, Tangrowth and Tapu Bulu (Iron Tail can help you, but we all know that we will be locked on Thousand Arrows everytime) and they are smashed from Pheromosa. Also, pheromosa has trouble with Pokémon like Tapu Fini,Toxapex and Marowak-A. Well, Zygarde destroys all of these guys.

252+ Atk Choice Band Zygarde Thousand Arrows vs. 248 HP / 196 Def Tapu Fini: 153-180 (44.6 - 52.4%) -- 78.5% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
252+ Atk Choice Band Zygarde Thousand Arrows vs. 252 HP / 232+ Def Toxapex: 218-260 (71.7 - 85.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Black Sludge recovery
252+ Atk Choice Band Zygarde Thousand Arrows vs. 184 HP / 0 Def Marowak-Alola: 372-440 (121.1 - 143.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO
