Pyukumuku (QC 0/3)

[OVERVIEW]

- Excellent defensive stats and typing let it work well as a wall
- Amazing defensive ability in Unaware
- Pure Water typing lets it check Scizor and other threats to stall
- Passive AF with literally ZERO viable attacks, meaning it's easily shut down by Taunt
- Low Speed means it is forced to use Recover often and cannot effectively utilize many of its support options
- Only works on stall teams

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

- Toxic is Pyukumuku's only method of dealing damage, and it helps wear the opponent down while they try to get past the bulky little thing.
- Soak helps remove STAB from Pokemon that rely on their STAB attacks such as Mega Pidgeot and Scizor. It also allows Poison- and Steel-type Pokemon to be poisoned by Toxic, which isn't normally possible.
- Recover is fairly self-explanatory, but its utility on Pyukumuku is paramount due to its low Speed and general passivity.
- The last slot is mainly up to your preference. Gastro Acid allows Pyukumuku to shut down Gliscor as well as check Haxorus, who can otherwise set up on Pyukumuku thanks to Mold Breaker.
- However, if these Pokemon aren't that big of an issue, Counter can be used to punish powerful physical sweepers such as Mega Aerodactyl.

Set Details
========

- Unaware is Pyukumuku's only useful ability, allowing it to check setup sweepers such as Mega Absol and Nasty Plot Infernape.
- The given EV spread with a Bold nature maximizes Pyukumuku's physical bulk, allowing it to better check physical attackers.
- Leftovers is essential due to the passive recovery it provides, which increases Pyukumuku's overall longevity.

Usage Tips
========

- Toxic the foe as soon as possible, as this is Pyukumuku's only way of wearing them down.
- Use Soak against Poison- and Steel-types, since they are immune to Toxic. Soak can also cripple Pokemon that rely on high-power STAB attacks, such as Mega Beedrill or Zygarde-10%.
- Get rid of opposing clerics first, since their ability to remove status from their teammates can be problematic for Pyukumuku.
- Switch out if you get poisoned or Taunted, since these conditions effectively make Pyukumuku useless. Use a cleric to cure Pyukumuku of Toxic poison.
- Use Recover often, since a Pyukumuku below 33% HP is basically dead meat due to its low speed.

Team Options
========

- Pyukumuku is a good check to physical attackers, but it struggles with special attackers such as Reuniclus. Therefore, special walls such as Blissey and Latias are useful Pokemon to help check them.
- Blissey and other passive Pokemon are usually setup fodder for dangerous Pokemon such as Cobalion, so they appreciate Pyukumuku's ability to check these sorts of Pokemon.
- Since Pyukumuku's moves can force a lot of switches, entry hazard support is nice to wear down the opponent easier. Some entry hazard setters you could use are Swampert, Gliscor or Klefki.
- On the other hand, you'll usually want to keep entry hazards off your side of the field, since Pyukumuku will be switching in often. Therefore, hazard removal support from the likes of Mandibuzz and Starmie is appreciated.
- A cleric such as Blissey or Celebi can help Pyukumuku rid itself of status, since it hates being worn down by Toxic poison or being prevented from healing due to being frozen or asleep.

Other Options
=============

- Curse allows Pyukumuku to better check physical attackers, as well as give it another means of dealing with Haxorus.
- Substitute allows Pyukumuku to avoid powerful attacks and prevent itself from being poisoned, but it is far too slow to effectively utilize the move.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Taunt**: Taunt stops Pyukumuku dead in its tracks, preventing it from doing ANYTHING except using Counter or Struggle. This of course forces you to switch, giving your opponent a free turn to set up or get chip damage on another Pokemon.

**Poison- and Steel-types**: Poison- and Steel-types such as Scizor and Nidoking are immune to Toxic and, while Pyukumuku can get around them with Soak, they can switch out to remove the effect. Steel-types are somewhat shakier checks however, as their main STAB attack is resisted by Pyukumuku.

**Haxorus**: While other setup sweepers struggle to break Pyukumuku, Haxorus has Mold Breaker to freely set up against the Sea Cucumber Pokemon. Haxorus can demolish Pyukumuku after a few Dragon Dances and proceed to sweep the rest of your team.

**Reuniclus**: Reuniclus has Magic Guard, meaning it takes no damage from Toxic, and also targets Pyukumuku's Special Defense, meaning it cannot use Counter against the Multiplying Pokemon. While Gastro Acid allows you to nullify Magic Guard, it also gives Reuniclus a free attack against Pyukumuku.

**Substitute**: Since Pyukumuku's only means of dealing damage is to spread Toxic, having a move that blocks Toxic is a huge problem. Substitute users, and Raikou in particular, can use the move to attack Pyukumuku freely without fear of being worn down by Toxic.
