Rate of the Week
Welcome to Rate of the Week! This is a project that looks to bring quality individual rates into the spotlight and recognizes the hard work of unbadged raters. Here's how it will work:
  • Each week, official Team Raters will be paying close attention to the RMT forum and reading the rates posted in their respective tiers. They will then shortlist a few which will be in contention for the Rate of the Week award.
  • From the pool of shortlisted rates, one will be chosen which most exemplifies the qualities of an excellent rate. That rater will be the winner for that particular tier!
  • A post will be made by an official TR who specialises in that tier, explaining how and why the particular rate won. This will allow aspiring raters to gain an idea of what constitutes high-quality rates, and hopefully incorporate those aspects into their own rates.
  • There will be multiple winners every week, one from OU and a couple from other tiers depending on the quality of the rates posted. We hope that in this way we can expand rating activity in less popular tiers, while maintaining a weekly OU winner.
  • Official Team Raters are eligible to win, but unbadged raters will have priority since that is the main focus of this project.
So what's in it for the winners? Well, they will earn a place in the Hall of Fame, which will be kept in the OP of every thread, and will earn more consideration for the Ladybug
and Team Rater
badges. Also, after gaining three places in the Hall of Fame, a rater will be eligible to earn voice status in the RMT room on PS! on the condition that they've shown an interest in getting involved.

We hope that this project will encourage people to put more effort into their rates and become better and more experienced raters, which will consequently increase the quality as well as the quantity of rates in the forum. Good luck to you all!

This week winner is tigers jaw, with a pretty good rate and a very nice format. The rate starts with a quick analysis of what are the main problems of the team, which are losing to Volturn teams, letting them gain momentum everytime and not having a proper win condition. So his rate pretty much focused on fixing those problems, starting with a smaller change in Landorus-T, changing the spread and making it the defensive set with U-Turn, Stone Edge, Earthquake and Stealth Rocks, the lack of HP Ice to face other Landorus-T, Zygarde and Salamence will be explained in the other changes, so this Landorus-T is the rocker and the slow U-Turn. His second change is Tapu Bulu > Tapu Fini, according to what he said, is a big momentum drain, with the lack of Nature's Madness, and I'd like to add that on this type of offense, double water may seem redundant, and one of them being Tapu Fini, is definitely a momentum loss. He suggested Z-Fight Tapu Bulu, being able to break many steel types, such as Celesteela, Ferrothorn, Skarmory and Mega Scizor, which is pretty good since it helps Mega Pinsir and Greninja to sweep later on. Tapu Bulu works as ground check too, being able to handle Zygarde and Landorus-T, which explains the non HP Ice Landorus-T.

With Defog being removed he made a change which is Spikes > Hydro Pump, which can sound greedy, but as he explained, it helps against volturn teams, forcing them to Defog or Spin away the hazard to don't lose. His last change consists in Pheromosa > Jirachi, considering that he got AV Magnezone as check of Tapu Lele, which only doesnt take Z-Fight Tapu Lele. Pheromosa acts like a hazard removal, being able to Spin away hazards for Mega Pinsir, and being Scarf it makes it the fastes Spinner in the meta, Scarf Mosa works as late game sweeper, being able to be a solid win condition in late game. Speed Control is pretty big on this team, being able to outspeed Kingdra in Rain teams, and making Mega Pinsir able to KO Kingdra after a HJK with Quick Attack, but also being able to outspeed Z-Fly Salamence and KO with Ice Beam, but also fast threats such as Mega Alakazam as well, which Greninja cannot revengekill. Stone Edge in this case on Landorus-T is very helpfull, considering that his team is weaker to Mega Pinsir with those changes, and Landorus-T with Stone Edge > HP Ice, works as better check. This is pretty much the rate, he added optional changes, that the player may take in consideration, Stone Edge > Zen Headbutt on Tapu Bulu, not allowing Charizard Y to be a free switch, Earthquake > Close Combat on Mega Pinsir, having better answers to Toxapex and punishing Mega Metagross on a possible switchin; and as last change, Hasty > Lonely nature on Pheromosa, being able to KO Jolly Rock Polish Landorus-T, consider that Z-Fly is the only variant that this team cannot take. He liked to say that this is a more offensive version of the original team, being able to check threats offensivly.

Thanks to his rate tigers jaw has earned himself another spot in the Hall of Fame! Congratulations!
