Raticate (OU Revamp)

Overview

The main reason you would use Raticate over any other Normal type late game sweepers is that Raticate is the only pokemon that can learn Super Fang (other than its pre evolution) which instantly halfs the hp of the other pokemon meaning Raticate can sometimes get a 2HKO with hyper beam.

Just because Raticate has 2 signature moves doesn't make him a good pokemon. If you just want to win your better off with tauros or persian as Raticate has terrible base stats and the Super Fang combo doesn't 2HKO most pokemon in the OU tier while most OU pokemon can 2HKO Raticate.

Super Fang

Move 1: Super Fang

Move 2: Hyper Beam

Move 3: Body Slam

Move 4: Bubble Beam

The primary combo of Raticate is Super Fang then Hyper Beam and that's what your goal should be with this pokemon. If you're afraid of a switch Body Slam is your best alternative. Bubble Beam is there to deal with Golem and Rhydon, and remember Super Fang still halfs the hp of rock types even though it's not very effective.

Other Options

Raticate’s next best options are Thunderbolt and Ice Beam but they generally aren't as useful at hitting Golem or Rhydon with Bubble Beam or as versatile as Body Slam. If you're really afraid of Gyrados or Pidgeot thunderbolt will be more effective than Body Slam, but it will do less damage against most other pokemon. and the only reason to get Ice beam is that it 2HKO Dragonite. And for those who are curious Thunder and Blizzard never kill faster than Ice Beam or Thunderbolt. You could also use Raticate’s other signature move Hyper fang over body slam for the 10% flinch chance but it has 10% less accuracy does not paralyze and dose 5 less damage.

Checks and Counters

Raticate is completely useless against Gengar. Raticate also has trouble against most OU pokemon Because the Super Fang combo doesn't 2HKO them, Meaning you can only get 2HKO’s if the pokemon is paralyzed or asleep and has lost some hp. Do to Raticate’s base states he can be 2HKO by most pokemon’s STAB moves, meaning that unless raticate is faster he generally won't be able to get his combo off.

Never run Bubblebeam, what happens is that foe switches, then Raticate proceeds to do 0 damage.
Also, you lose the chance to KO Eggy with a crit Blizzard once it's been Super Fang'd.
And you lose the chance to freeze.
And you lose the chance to do more than 0 damage.
