You strode towards the stone henge, remembering the last time you came over with a Frisbee and a bag of triple cheeseburgers - and made a friend with a youkai. Which is pretty cool - like, not many people can claim to have almost hit the head of a demigod with a spinning plastic disk.

"Yeah that was pretty fun."
"Whoa! Told you not to read my mind!"
"Sorry, you were wandering so I couldn't help it. Battling for real this time?"

You nodded, and his face splits into a grin.

"Let's get started then! Welcome to Rock Origins, the Gym!"

Format
  • 5 vs 5 Doubles, GL B8P5
  • 96-hour DQ (once someone goes over that, I'll usually leave a VM asking them to look at it. If their recent activity is twice over the time, a straight no-warning DQ may be requested by opponent)
  • 2 Abilities
  • 2/5 Recoveries/Chills
  • 7 Substitutions per round (excluding KO subs of course)
  • 0 Mega-Evolutions
  • Switch = OK
  • Items = ALL
  • Turn Order = COIN FLIP
Arena mechanics
  1. Naturally Rock-type Pokemons get Sticky Hold.
  2. All Rock-types get Solid Rock and Rock Head in addition, if they don't already have it.
  3. In Sandstorms, all attacks against Rock-types also suffer -2 BAP, instead of just Special Attacks.
  4. All defensive moves listed under Rock STAB gain +4 Priority instead of the original +1. Pokemons whose primary STAB is Rock-type automatically gain knowledge of all moves listed in the STAB description, except Multi-target, Priority, or Damaging moves (Exclusion lists: Detect, Quick Guard, Wide Guard, Light Screen, Reflect, Skull Bash).
  5. No external rock, water, or grass sources.
  6. No seismic combos allowed.
  7. Camouflage turns user into Rock-type, Nature Power calls Ancient Power, and Secret Power lowers Speed by one (1) stage.

Stratagem - Erza (U)

A swordsman wields the blade with graceful precision, just as Erza uses her attacks with dangerous beauty. She walked in on one of Gray and Natsu’s brawls, and the resulting free-for-all wore on for half a day before Zheng can subdue her with a Pokeball. Unknowingly for her, that fight left a lasting impression on the two – they’re cautious almost to the point of fearful whenever in her company since then. Wendy and Charla looks up to her as a role model, though, and it was Erza who took care of them, even though she was newer to the family.

Chargestone Cave is the hallowed ground for all of Erza's ancestry, yet she decides that she will withhold her instincts to evolve for the sake of her family. Small but close-knit, everyone looks up to Erza as the big sister, even though her quirks with boys sometimes astonished the girls and make the shy ones (like Juvia and Wendy) blush. After a series of long, drawn out clashes with Mirajane, both of them seemed to have settled to a cordial relationship, mutually agreeing to avoid mentioning the past conflicts, opting instead to look after the girls together and knock the boys down a peg or two when they get too loud.

It wasn't until the strawberry cake event that Erza finally found the courage to overcome her fear. The truth was, she was scared of shouldering her responsibility being a full-grown Stratagem, relying more and more on the rest of the family despite the lads' deferment to her leadership and skills. Resolving to do whatever it takes to protect herself and those around her, she secretly learn how to manipulate the nature from Mirajane, and the two became very fast friends. Although, Mirajane seems to have picked up some of Erza's racy quirks as well...

Nature: Modest (+1 SpA, -1 Atk)

Type:
Rock type: Rock STAB; Adds an additional level of Priority (+0 to +1, +3 to +4 etc.) on naturally occurring level-up, egg, tutor, or TM attacks that increase only defense, special defense, or prevent damage (Full list: Acid Armor, Amnesia, Barrier, Defense Curl, Detect, Fast Guard, Harden, Iron Defense, Light Screen, Protect, Reflect, Skull Bash, Stockpile, Wide Guard, Withdraw). Reduced damage from all special attacks by 2 BAP during Sandstorm, immune to Sandstorm damage. Ignores Arena restrictions on Rock attacks requiring an external rock source.

Abilities:
Ability 1: Levitate
Type: Passive
This Pokemon naturally floats above the earth when released or easily takes flight, evading the all seismic moves. Earth Power will have 3 less BAP. Dig and Dive can still strike a Levitating Pokemon, but only if their user is over Size Class 4, has Levitate, is 3.5m or larger, or is a Flying-type. Other Ground moves can still hit.

Ability 2: Technician
Type: Passive
This Pokemon is more skilled at performing weaker moves, causing any of their attacks that normally deal 6 or below base damage to have their base damage multiplied by 1.5. The Energy Cost for a one-hit or two-hit attack is increased by one (1). Each hit in a multi-hit move is boosted by one (1) damage, and the Energy Cost for multi-hit attacks is increased by two (2).

Ability 3: Mold Breaker (Unlocked)
Type: Passive
Whenever this Pokemon attacks, it emits an invisible, blindingly quick pulse preceding the attack that disables the opponents natural abilities (e.g. Levitators plummet towards the ground before Earthquake hits, Volt Absorb will not absorb electric attacks, Clear Body does not prevent stat-drops, etc.)

Armaldo - Pantherlily (M)

Gajeel was the one who found Pantherlily's Claw Fossil discarded at the entrance of a mine. Seeing the Murkrow's penchant for it, Zheng decided to go to the nearest archaeological lab and revive it. Pantherlily and Gajeel have been quite attached to each other ever since. They share the same camaraderie towards each other as Natsu and Gray, but at least they didn't have the head-splitting rivalry that the other pair always do. Often after a training session, Gajeel would take Pantherlily up for flight trips, while the latter demonstrates the pleasure of submersion in water. The rest of the family often help Pantherlily too, since he's still much less comfortable on terrestrial environment - Wendy loved piggybacking him and Charla together, while the latter doesn't mind that much.

Pantherlily's much larger size now meant that he would no longer be the protected fossiling now, but a respected fighter in his own right. Swinging his claws with the strength of a shield bash, Pantherlily trains everyday by felling trees for firewood and clearing debris around the monastery backyard. Often in the evenings, the only sounds there are the rustling of his claws as no fallen leaf ever touches the ground.

Nature: Adamant (+1 Atk, -1 SpAtk)

Type:
Bug type: Bug STAB; Adds an additional guaranteed attack on all multi-hit moves (does not include two hit moves) with a total hit cap of five (5).

Reduced damage from all special attacks by 2 Base Attack Power during Sandstorm, immune to Sandstorm damage. Ignores Arena restrictions on Rock attacks requiring an external rock source.

Rias Gremory, "Princess of Crimson Ruin" - Tyrantrum (F)

Rias is born to a rare family - one in which both her parents were present to take care of her. Before her, they already had a son - who grew up, evolved, and went away to stake his own territory. Being the younger "princess", Rias enjoyed all the privileges - and hardships - that her life as a future empress has to offer, before a cataclysm caused the death of herself and her whole family millions of years before the time of humans.

Being resurrected by Zheng, she is given to and named by Tanner as her Trainer, who somehow also hold another Jaw Fossil that can't be revived - probably because the piece held remnants of both her parents. It is rumoured that Rias' brother walks the earth again this same era that she does, however Rias does not know where to find him.

Evolving into her grown form, Rias still continues the search for her brother. And then she met Issei, then a young Charmander who knew nothing much about the world except the fire in his belly.... Who is just one of her "peerage" of Pokemons, each with stories of their own. She decides that it is high time she declared herself King, and she readies herself for the challenges of her very own monarchy by training relentlessly.

Nature: Adamant (+Atk, -SpAtk) - caring but stern

Type:
Rock type: Rock STAB; Rias is fast on her mind to add an additional level of Priority on Protect. She also takes reduced damage from all special attacks by two (2) Base Attack Power during Sandstorm, and is immune to Sandstorm damage. Her natural magic can mold and build rocks, ignoring Arena restrictions on Rock attacks requiring an external rock source.
Dragon type: Dragon STAB; -1 BAP on incoming neutral attacks Dragon itself would resist. Her powerful will allows Thrash or Outrage to be undisrupted by oncoming damage.

Abilities:
Ability 1: Strong Jaw
Type: Passive
Rias' thick fang and massive jaws give her incredibly powerful biting attacks, increasing the BAP of all biting attacks by three (3) BAP. Full List: Bite, Crunch, Fire Fang, Ice Fang, Poison Fang, Thunder Fang.

Ability 2: Rock Head (Unlocked)
Type: Passive
Rias' body and willpower fortifies herself in battle, preventing it from taking recoil damage from moves such as Double-Edge, Flare Blitz, and Head Smash.

Vali Lucifer, "White Dragon Emperor" - Aerodactyl (M)

Born to a lineage of Aerodactyl, with lineages going back as far as time immemorial, Vali was one of the few exceptional case born with great potential. But only one of them. And so he struggled to rise far and above those before it, with the competitive spirit beyond what most would even comprehend. He would use every bit of strength at his disposal just to further his training, and to beat every strong opponent that not just stood in his way, but also those he actively seek out. Currently his long-term project involves resurrecting God to Its True Forme, and challenging it to combat.

Nature: Jolly (+15% Speed, + Accuracy, -1 SpA)

Type:
Rock Type: Rock STAB; Adds an additional level of Priority (+0 to +1, +3 to +4 etc.) on naturally occurring level-up, egg, tutor, or TM attacks that increase only defense, special defense, or prevent damage (Full list: Acid Armor, Amnesia, Barrier, Defense Curl, Detect, Quick Guard, Harden, Iron Defense, Light Screen, Reflect, Skull Bash, Stockpile, Wide Guard, Withdraw). Reduced damage from all special attacks by two (2) Base Attack Power during Sandstorm, immune to Sandstorm damage. Ignores Arena restrictions on Rock attacks requiring an external rock source.

Flying Type: Flying STAB; immunity to Ground attacks and the Arena Trap Ability except under the effects of Smack Down and Gravity, even for ground-based flying Pokemon. Will always hit foes with Dig (except other Flying types) and Dive. Cannot be hit by Dive unless the attacking Pokemon has a si e class greater than four (4). Unaffected by Spikes or Toxic Spikes. when switching in. Able to hit Pokemon in the evasive stage of Bounce, Fly or Sky Drop with single target moves that hit Pokemon on the field regardless of position.

Abilities:
Ability 1: Rock Head
Type: Passive
The use of magic power to substitute for life force means Vali does not take recoil damage from moves such as Double-Edge, Flare Blitz, and Head Smash. (This does not prevent recoil damage from Struggle.)

Ability 2: Pressure
Type: Passive
Vali's lineage and raw power means his presence fills the air with intense anxiety, and any damaging or status attack launched at him would cost the his opponents two (2) more energy to perform without sufficient will to overcome his.

Ability 3: Unnerve (Hidden)
Type: Passive
The Pokemon's presence causes immense tension in the opponent, preventing them from eating a held Berry. Natural Gift may still be used.

Ability 4: Tough Claws (Mega-Evo only)
Type: Toggle
Vali infuses his magic power to enhance the power of all of its contact attacks by two (2) BAP.

Fenrir, "God-Devouring Wolf" - Rhydon (M)

Fenrir was a Rhyperior before being captured by Vali. Somehow during the fight a strange phenomenon occurred that forced Fenrir to devolve, which result in Vali's victory - though Fenrir is frank that Vali was already having the upper hand and his lost was already imminent by that time of the battle. So, he obediently followed Vali as a part of his team, or herd, or pack, or whatever humans call it these days. Smarter than most Rhyhorns, Fenrir knew very well that him being with Vali hinges on his ability to take on and defeat God, and he relishes that future almost as much as Vali does, to fulfil an ancient prophecy foretold during the last time he was a Rhyhorn.

Nature: Brave (+Atk, -15% Speed, -10% Evasion) - Full to brim with a lone wolf's pride

Type:
Rock type: Rock STAB; Adds an additional level of Priority (+0 to +1, +3 to +4 etc.) on naturally occurring level-up, egg, tutor, or TM attacks that increase only defense, special defense, or prevent damage (Full list: Acid Armor, Amnesia, Barrier, Defense Curl, Detect, Quick Guard, Harden, Iron Defense, Light Screen, Reflect, Skull Bash, Stockpile, Wide Guard, Withdraw). Reduced damage from all special attacks by two (2) Base Attack Power during Sandstorm, immune to Sandstorm damage. Ignores Arena restrictions on Rock attacks requiring an external rock source.

Ground type: Ground STAB; immune to Sandstorm. Ignores Arena restrictions on Dig and Seismic Attacks for Arenas in which any land mass exists, Evasive Digging reduced from 6 per action Energy Cost to 5 per action.

Abilities:
Ability 1: Lightning Rod
Type: Passive
Fenrir naturally attracts electricity away from partners in double battles. When struck with an Electric-type attack, the energy is transferred into his body, increasing Special Attack (and adjust the natural stage) by one (1) stage, unless Fenrir happens to have a type immunity to Electric-type attacks. Oh the irony.

Ability 2: Rock Head
Type: Passive
Fenrir's ferocious constitution prevents him from taking recoil damage from moves such as Double-Edge, Flare Blitz, and Head Smash. This does not prevent recoil damage from Struggle.

Ability 3: Reckless (locked)
Type: Passive
Fenrir's innately aggressive nature lets him use all-out attacks with recoil more effectively. Recoil attacks have two (2) more Base Attack Power, and recoil percentage is unaffected. Jump Kick and High Jump Kick count as recoil moves.

Once Defeatist is active, attacks cost two (2) less energy. If the Pokemon goes back above 50% of its maximum HP in battle, Defeatist's effects will disappear.

I don't even know how to order here ;-; Omastar/Carracosta/Rhydon/Stratagem/???

"You know, when I took a hand into the, uhm, renovations, I'd imagine playing to Rock's advantage - you hit a rock, it hurts you more because it's harder. So let's try the harder part here, okay?"
Gogmagog's Left (Omastar w/ Binding Band @ Swift Swim and Shell Armour): Icy Wind > Muddy Water > Muddy Water
IF Bloodviolet-Hariyama would use Wide Guard, THEN replace the first instance with Mud Shot @ Yoda-Rampardos, and subsequent instances with Hydro Pump @ Yoda-Rampardos instead, pushing remaining queue back each time.
IF Bloodviolet-Hariyama would use a Fighting-type damaging move @ Gogmagog's Left-Omastar AND Yoda-Rampardos would use a Ground-type damaging move @ Gogmagog's Left-Omastar in the same action, THEN replace the first instance with Reflect instead, pushing remaining queue back.
IF Bloodviolet-Hariyama would use a Fighting-type damaging move @ Gogmagog's Left-Omastar AND Yoda-Rampardos would use a Fighting-type damaging move @ Gogmagog's Left-Omastar in the same action, THEN replace the first instance with Barrier instead, pushing remaining queue back.
IF Bloodviolet-Hariyama would use a Fighting-type damaging move @ Gogmagog's Left-Omastar AND Yoda-Rampardos would use an Electric-type damaging move @ Gogmagog's Left-Omastar in the same action, THEN replace the first instance with Protect (self) instead, pushing remaining queue back.

Fenrir (Rhydon w/ Eviolite @ Lightning Rod and Reckless): Drill Run > Dig > Dig, all @ Yoda-Rampardos
IF Bloodviolet-Hariyama is ordered to use a Ground-type damaging move @ Fenrir-Rhydon AND Fenrir-Rhydon is faster, THEN replace the first instance with Barrier and the second with Protect (self) instead.
IF Yoda-Rampardos is ordered to use a Ground-type damaging move @ Fenrir-Rhydon AND Fenrir-Rhydon is faster, THEN replace the first instance with Protect (self) and the second with Barrier instead.
IF Fenrir-Rhydon is slower than both Yoda-Rampardos AND Bloodviolet-Hariyama, THEN replace the first instance of Dig with Barrier instead.

Oh well, Archeops is going to be KO'ed really fast so might as well try out the broken item and face the defeat.

*screeches and unfurl full wingspan*
Otachi (Archeops w/ Rage Candy Bar).

cradily: grass knot (rhydon) ~ giga drain (rhydon) ~ grass knot (rhydon)
IF rhydon is under a successful p/e move, AND archeops is not, THEN brine (archeops) first instance and stealth rock the second, restarting queue each time.
IF rhydon is underground, THEN stockpile first instance and rock slide (archeops) future instances.
IF rhydon is KO, THEN target archeops.
rampardos: endeavor (archeops) ~ blizzard (zhengtann's team) ~ head smash (archeops)
IF archeops is under the effects of a successful p/e move, AND cradily's 1st sub is not set to trigger twice, THEN stealth rock first instance and push back.
IF rhydon is underground when you are to act a2, THEN bulldoze instead of blizzard.
IF archeops is under the effects of roost, THEN iron head (archeops) and push abck.
IF archeops is KO, THEN ice beam (rhydon).

Erza (Stratagem @ Mould Breaker & Technician) coming in to replace Fenrir (Rhydon w/ Eviolite), holding an Expert Belt. Counterswitch?

This doesn't look all too good - but at least I can look at this with hope!

*Threatening roars and postures*
Leatherback (Carracosta w/ Sturdy & Swift Swim) coming in! That should be all of my 5-mon squad - I'm just putting a reminder here just in case I pull a dumb-ass 6th send-in again.
