I have problems with making decisions and sticking to them so... today is your lucky day I suppose! 2 teams involving qwilfish! In general qwilfish is a challenging mon to use in this metagame cause isnt a really good fighting check when virizion and medicham are around and isnt checking grass types ever so venusaur hurts its viability a lot. Lets add dugtrio, and I really dont want to continue, so yeah. On both teams shuca berry with a pain split are there to circumvent the dugtrio issue it has once the opponent sacks something to bring dugtrio safely. You live and kill back (or burn). On both teams Rhyperior is a fantastic partner handling electrics and a handy volt switch immunity. With qwilfish you want an spinblocker to take advantage of blastoise so you dont set up hazards for nothing. Team 1 uses hoopa as its main win condition since sub nasty plot takes advantage of blastoise 100% of the time unless you face the really uncommon dark pulse one, second team uses rotom which beats blastoise 1v1.

Both teams have escavalier cause with qwilfish you NEED a guaranteed venusaur check, and it is a fantastic pursuit trapper to get rid of meloetta which both hoopa and rotom highly appreciate. And a really nice dragon resist so yeah, important niches for the teams. Next, Team 1 uses life orb rotom-cut, amazing set to destroy water types and hp flying to catch that virizion and venusaur for some nice damage. Really good magneton check surprisingly enough and a really handy ground immunity. Team 2 has braviary as its main win condition, it lacks a water resist besides qwilfish (not a really good one...) but sub bulk up braviary and sub rotom guarantee you dont lose to most relevant water types, sub bulk up braviary is just a fantastic set. Last on both teams, choice scarf emboar so you dont press X against mega glalie builds and make sneasel less of a nuisance.

I leave the options of choice scarf hitmonlee for both teams since opposing hazards can take the toll on you at first glance, so hitmonlee provides emergency spins when necessary. Up to you.

Hope you enjoy! Any issues, Im all ears.

I hate building with mega banette but anyways, lets do this. This uses the same general foundation that lighthouses had on the previous team posted but a bit more offensive (like giving up hazard control) and mesprit instead of uxie. We have mega banette and we know what it does, it heavily annoys most builds through knock off + residual damage from will-o-wisp. Shadow claw for STAB and sucker punch for nice priority. Decided to use mesprit instead of uxie cause the team appreciated the general power boost and u-turn makes mesprit a decent pivot, not as good as uxie but as said, with a much more offensive presence which was nice cause gurdurr was an annoyance with uxie, lol. Next we have the best ice resist in the tier, part of me isnt kidding, Hariyama. Unlike the previous build, hariyama is consolidated here as the main ice resist to handle mega glalie and it rely appreciates mesprit healing wish support.

Other half of the team consists on the win conditions + glue mon. Swords Dance Kabutops is the primary win condition and I really decided to give up hazard removal to make kabutops an actual offensive threat. SD is some nice set honestly and I think the team is fine with no hazard control thanks to healing wish in the back. Calm Mind Virizion is an amazing setup sweeper that needs no introduction really, it is here for the actual speed and so choice band flygon doesnt toss you like a salad bar, thats pretty important nowadays. Last, choice scarf drapion giving the team an answer to psychic types, toxic spikes to justify mega banette spinblocking and a decent revenge killer.

Hope you enjoy! Any issues, I will pick up that phone.

Cheers!

basic idea behind first three mons is that uxie + blastoise is a great core that functions similarly to the common uxiemola but allows for role compression of spin by forgoing wish support. ice beam > refresh on stoise to catch venu on switch, theoretically not that important, but i personally dislike passing up momentum against venu. dugtrio was next as pretty amazing support to trap your steels such as registeel that can really hinder aggron when its attempting to sweep. braviary was added to push through your bulky stuff like the aforementioned uxiemola, venu and others. also meshes up pretty well with dugtrio as it helps trap the same stuff that aggron needs. finally, sneasel feels like just a really nice mon in general to pressure a lot of mons due to its high speed that allows for revenge killing. best way of beating magneton is by playing aggressively with dugtrio. the meta really doesnt favour aggron as of the current moment, so this was ideally the best i could make of it

options
pursuit > ice shard on sneasel
subendeavor toad > dug (this would allow to have better matchup against magneton and allows another way to beat down defensive cores by limiting its health with endeavor, but i felt for this build, being able to trap registeel was more important, i would try this though, just thought of it)

So with Rotom-C getting a bit better and being almost nonexistent in RU teams and discussions, I'd like a team around this Pokemon. He can outrun shit like Cham with a Scarf set and take apart some builds, although I'm fine with changing the set to Modest Scarf or Timid Specs. Actually I'd probably like that better due to the increased power. Anyway Aldo's VR post convinced me that this thing can be pretty good so I'd like to give it a go with a solid team. Cheers and have fun building!

I am requesting to build a team with Tangrowth. The reason I choose Tangrowth is because it's a really good defensive tank with access to good utility moves like leech seed, sleep powder and synthesis. It also has good attack and special attack, to take advantage of giga drain and knock off.

Hey all I would really appreciate a balance build around Venusaur. Venusaur can switch into many offensive and defensive mons and is in general a good mon to have on balance builds. Plus it has decent special attack and a decent speed tier.

Boy, if you were expecting anything else other than Hyper Offense with this core, you were wrong. Now, let me tell you the problem behind this core. It is possible to pull off balance and bulky offense with another psychic type or another fighting type alongside either medicham or gallade but since it is both medicham and gallade the core, you are hella restricted in term of options, both just clash so much. If Sigilyph was there instead of one of them for example another direction could be taken. Anyways, to the team, in any case you will able to request another team after tier shift :V

So, Hyper Offense. Omastar Lead + plus a bunch of goons and then you go to town. Omastar is a suicide lead that is able to pressure flygon while remaining usable to check the stuff it is supposed to check. Braviary so in case flygon is still alive it thinks twice about defogging. Sub bulk up is such a good set man, it is crazy what it is able to do. Next, the 2 fighting/psychic type brothers in arms. Medicham is an amazing scarfer and people really know it. Trick and baton pass cause honestly, the times you are pressing thunder punch are rare and it could cause you to lose momentum, something this team cant really afford to do whatsoever. Banded Gallade is really outclassed to me so I went with a swords dance set to pressure balance to no end. Pretty straight forward moveset with basically perfect neutral coverage.

Last 2 slots were hella tricky, I was forced to disconnect my worry circuits and be like "fuck it" and went with a combination to cover most dangerous threats (like delphox, holy shit, got destroyed by a scarf one with another variant of this) so went with rotom and the infamous dugtrio. Rotom provides a solid spinblocker that can get rid of blastoise, absurdly consistent spinner and you want to keep your hazards. Dugtrio covers much holes like a massive af delphox weakness plus weakening stuff for braviary and rotom to do their stuff later on. Mega Glalie and Sneasel, in particular Sneasel are massive threats so preserve your medicham and gallade at all costs while facing those. Banded Sneasel sucks and gets trapped by Dugtrio, lol. Spiritomb can be heavily annoying but thankfully thats on the decline. Play super aggresively, preserve momentum, destroy stuff with gallade and braviary.

Any issues, Im all ears (there will obviously be issues, like a lot but yeah. I will be here).

Defensive Tangrowth is quite the relic, it really isnt that suited to this metagame cause it really doesnt much usage or reason to be used and very few people have explored this set lately so I had to look for a reference, as recent as possible. Huge thanks to Luigi. since this build is basically inspired from the build he brought against Scythe on SPL7 Week 6 (the most recent appearance of a Physically Defensive Tangrowth). Defensive Tangrowth is here being probably the sturdiest ground resist and physical walls in the entire game, shit just wont die (from any physical attack) and it is hilarious to watch it survive stuff. Sleep Powder is just an amazing move so it stays, knock off cause knock off and giga drain cause STAB. Aerial Ace is an option cause virizion is, needless to say, a nuisance but can be played around. Hidden power fire is the other option cause opposing escavaliers are also a nuisance, up to you.

Next, we have escavalier cause if we have tangrowth we need to have ways to handling or countering venusaur. Escavalier is one of the bests at it, taking advantage of every set lacking hp fire, and if it does it lacks sleep powder which are actually great news (sleep powder is much more annoying to go against) so yeah. Also being a great ice resist and one of the best meloetta checks, trapping it and Megahorn just being so amazing spammable. Next, we have the always trusty rhyperior. Amazing mon, not much else to say really, standard moveset with ice punch dealing with Flygon so you can keep your rocks. Next, Jolteon being the backup plan against flying types like sub bulk up braviary and threatening offense thanks to its fantastic speed tier.

Lacked a win condition so went with the amazing SD Drapion. What a fantastic pokemon, serve as a secondary venusaur check in case of hp fire, really nice psychic resist and reliable setup sweeper finding a good amount of setup opportunities against grass types and stuff. Shuca berry to diminish the nuisance of ground types but lum berry is a perfectly viable option here. Last, scarf medicham gives me some amazing secondary cleaner and an extra offensive pivot to preserve momentum, and something to spam hjk later in the match.

Hope you enjoy!

Cheers :D

Such a strange Pokemon but I guess it's like Venusaur but slower and with a different typing to a degree. I assume you would want to use something like Giga Drain, Psyshock, Sleep Powder, and maybe Sunny Day for the speed boost. I'm not sure but if you go with Sunny Day you could chuck on BandBoar to break things apart. Not sure go nuts.

To everyone that is pending a request, we are expecting many drops soon so we (as we all, builders included) would like to see how the drops will affect the metagame and we want to test the waters before posting any new teams.

Thanks for understanding :)

Hey Aldo since Tangrowth is moving up to OU, I need a replacement for it on the recent team you built me. Do you think making a team around a different mon would be better or just replacing Tangrowth?

Hey so, melo fletch. Melo is checked mainly by pusuit trapping and revenge killing from the likes of emboar and shit, the way im gonna go about covering both those issues is by having rh drudd as the rocker which greatly discourages opposing emboars or w/e to go for the revenge kill and colbur berry slowking which lures in pursuit trappers for melo to run free, spdef blastoise forms a cool deffensive backbone w phys def drudd being able to better check glalie, delphox, houndoom and other shit thats most likely to pressure emboar(which already tends to kill itself). Fletchs ability to lure in the likes of mola and registeel/diancie to burn them really helps blastoise which can safely switch into these mons and further pressure the opposing team, a burned diancie for example would have to either go for heal bell or stealth rocks while you can just go into stoise in a win/win scenario.

Its 2 am rn so i appologize for the probable half assed description and the time it took me to post this, been studying a lot and legit forgot about this

Its 2 am rn so i appologize for the probable half assed description and the time it took me to post this, been studying a lot and legit forgot about this
Cheers
-mr aldo please
I think the Druddigon should have Rocky Helmet instead of Rock Incense lol

Requesting a Shaymin team please and thank you. Shaymin is one of the newest drops to RU and is a very bulky and versatile mon. I personally have no idea what effect it has on the metagame but I'm anxious to find out. Here is a few sets I think might work:

Shaymin @ Life Orb
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Seed Flare
- Dazzling Gleam/Hidden Power Fire
- Psychic
- Synthesis

Shaymin @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Leech Seed
- Seed Flare
- Psychic
- Substitute

For the record, this team was built in a manner of "get to use while you can" cause good lord, Shaymin is ridiculous. Synthesis + 3 Attacks Shaymin is just so good, with coverage to destroy basically every potential check and seed flare drops to make checks not even checks anymore so yeah. Psychic or Air Slash are the options since both have solid merit, air slash doing much more damage to virizion and psychic for stuff like weezing and dont miss against venusaur so yeah, up to you. Escavalier gets rid of certain shaymin responses like bronzong and being an amazing mon in general right now for stuff like Meloetta and Venusaur, and being the Slurpuff check until it gets banned!

Next, Scarf Delphox which appreciate Shaymin and Escavalier breaking through everything and getting rid of its checks, being the main revenge killer and a nice tool for offense (and Slurpuff again... if it is adamant). Nice set tbh. Flygon is here to provide hazard control and all the good stuff Flygon provides, offensive pivot and what not. Earth Plate cause I love that set :D Last set are necessary flying resists and a glue mon of some sort, Diancie and Jolteon here we go. Diancie checks Fletch better while Jolteon check Braviary much better... as in not losing to it 1v1. Decided to use Sub Pass cause that + Shaymin is a recipe for disaster, and the passive recovery is nice.

And thats it, team only fighting-type check is Delphox which is pretty annoying honestly but Shaymin and Diancie can take it. The funny part is that Venusaur can work over Shaymin in case it gets banned (and hopefully thats the case).

Cheers!

im not playing this garb tier until those lil fuckin shits are banned

in the meantime, how about someone building a semiroom team? It's a really cool arcehtype that I've had a lot of success with, but it would be cool to see how other people approach it.

only req is that it have a camerupt, thanks!

1 MONTH LATER?! Poor guy probably doesnt even use smogon anymore D: Anyways, Scrafty + Bronzong is odd and I honestly would prefer another stealth rock user but eh, they work quite well together honestly. Rest Dragon Dance is a great stallbreaker thanks to shed skin, easily taking advantage of really passive mons like alomomola, registeel, etc, you name it and thats pretty invaluable nowadays. Bronzong checks fairies and stuff like venusaur for scrafty and what not, Attack investment helps dealing with Meloetta a bit better. Next, decided to add defensive venusaur to get fairies totally covered and being a solid fighting resist (and to get 2 requests covered). Next, Expert Belt Emboar to have some sort of wallbreaking potential (you can use life orb if you are feeling real and I honestly prefer it cause who is scared of lack of longevity?!) which is always appreciated. Expert Belt provides solid surprise factor to nail certain switch-ins, life orb provides insane wallbreaker potential. Up to you.

Last, the combination of bronzong and physically defensive venusaur allow blastoise to go the specially defensive route and thats really nice to have an actual switch-in to mega camerupt and dealing better with Pokemon like Delphox. Last, Aerodactyl provides the team with great speed in order to outspeed stuff like Virizion while giving the team great pursuit utility and an actual check to stuff like Braviary which can be annoying. Sneasel gotta be played around carefully, same as Braviary but you should be fine overall. Have fun (both). Any issues Im here, ready to listen.

Choice Banded Granbull is a pretty interesting Pokemon gotta say but it is kind of hard to use given it needs rather specific partners in order to function at its best otherwise Defensive does more for a team. Fletchinder is one of the best partners cause CB Granbull basically lure and beat every potential check for the cute bird thanks to its coverage, which is really something so yeah. Blastoise cause of necessary spinning in order for fletchinder to not lose health cause of Stealth Rock, not much else really, just Blastoise things.

Next, Spdef Steelix gives me a hella solid Magneton answer which this team really needs and solid Stealth Rock user, and because I really hate registeel honestly (lol). Next, Offensive Hex Rotom is so really nice set nowadays. The addition of Volt Switch provides a pivot to bring fletchinder safely and grounds arent willing to switch into rotom which is pretty nice. Last, scarf drapion for psychic types and get rid of Meloetta which Rotom appreciates, while being backup insurance against Virizion and stuff. It is here mainly to absorb toxic spikes so blastoise isnt so pressured to keep using refresh instead of spinning.

Hope you enjoy! Any issues, I will be here ready to listen.

OTR Trevenant and Camerupt form the Trick Room core. On Camerupt I kept some speed so it wouldn't lose againist the likes of 0 Speed Slowking and CB Escavalier when the TR isn't up; Substitute is nice for when the opponent tries to stall the Trick Room by switching every turn, which means that you can get a free Substitute up. Earthquake can be used over Rock Slide but I prefer the Rock coverage to hit Braviary which is pretty threatening. RegiMola was added as the defensive backbone, while Alomomola can pass huge wishes to keep Came alive during the match. Mesprit was added to have a ground resist and Healing Wish can be helpful giving a weakened mon a second chance; Dazzling Gleam can be used over Ice Beam or Grass Knot, but the former hits Sigilyph and the latter dents bulky water for Camerupt. Hitmonlee acts as a cleaner/revenge killer, and a fast Rapid Spin can be nice.

I'm requesting a team to build a team with Flygon. I chose flygon because its one of the best defogers in RU and hits really hard with Life Orb Draco. It has access to fire blast and earth power(STAB) which helps it take care of Bronzong and Escavelier.

oi, i honestly had no idea what to do with this monstrosity until Kushalos, after initially suggesting a much more heat set in which i will not disclose, suggested sub seeds w sitrus. i was oh, decent idea, let's work with this. this thing obviously neither could break registeel nor golbat or other poisons bar extreme luck, so i added dugtrio and regi to deftly rid of this problem + seeds help dugtrio trap opposing registeel without killing itself. king is the fire resist / main fight check / fletch check + lures in darks who would normally prey on eggy. band drap helps weaken opposing builds and trap psychics while scarf boar is speed control
