[Overview]
Chansey's huge HP stat coupled with its rather high Special Defense allow it to sponge many special attacks, making it a great answer to many special attackers in the tier. Examples include, but is not limited to: Ash-Greninja, Mega Charizard Y and Volcarona. Additionally, it naturally has access to many good support moves like Stealth Rock, Heal Bell and two forms of reliable recovery in Soft-Boiled and Wish. Chansey can Sketch many new support moves to expand its utility potential. Will-O-Wisp, for instance, cripples physical switch ins that Chansey lures in thanks to its low Defense, Transform applies offensive pressure on the opponent if transformed into a powerful attacker, or even U-turn to help Chansey generate momentum. It is flexible enough to be able to make good use of just about any status move. On the flipside though, Chansey is susceptible to physical attackers as, despite support from Eviolite and its huge HP stat, it is commonly 2HKO'd or even OHKO'd by powerful physical attackers like physical Tapu Koko, Landorus-T and Mega Medicham, forcing it out. It also is extremely passive, relying only on Seismic Toss and potentially a Sketch move (although this is heavily discouraged) as a means of dealing direct damage to the opponent. This weakness can be taken advantage of by Pokemon with Taunt or those that can create Substitutes with greater than a hundred HP to absorb one Seismic Toss. Lastly, Chansey is quite susceptible to entry hazards, as its type does not grant it reduced damage from any form of hazard, meaning it can be chipped away at heavily upon switching in. This could spell disaster, as this crucial damage could be the deciding factor between life and death for Chansey.

- Seismic Toss
- Soft-Boiled
- Transform / Toxic / Will-O-Wisp
- Stealth Rock / Spikes / Heal Bell

[Moves]
Seismic Toss is Chansey's best offensive tool, allowing it to have offensive presence even against users of Substitute and Taunt, as well as to simply deal a hundred HP damage to targets, whittling them down. Soft-Boiled is Chansey's recovery move of choice, healing a huge amount of HP in one turn. Transform allows Chansey to retaliate against offensive Pokemon, especially set-up sweepers like Porygon-Z, Magearna, and Serperior lacking Taunt, potentially even overpowering Chansey's target with the help of its maintained huge HP stat and Eviolite's defensive boosts and sweep the opponent if they lack counters to their own Pokemon. Toxic, though, puts the opponent on a timer, deterring Pokemon such as Calm Mind Mega Slowbro and Serperior, Pokemon that can eventually overpower Chansey given enough turns, from setting up. Will-O-Wisp is an option to cripple physical Pokemon that like to switch in to threaten Chansey like Mega Pinsir, Mega Mawile and Mega Medicham. Stealth Rock is almost a necessity on teams and thanks to Chansey's defensive prowess, it can find many opportunities to switch in and use the move. Spikes takes more turns to set up but Chansey's stats grant it the time and the opportunities it needs to use the move. This is an option if Stealth Rock is already being used by an ally. Lastly, Heal Bell provides great utility to balance and stall teams, removing any volatile status conditions. This is appreciated by teammates that struggle with status such as Tapu Fini and Mega Sableye.

[Set Details]
HP and Defense EVs are maximized to help Chansey sponge physical hits better from the likes of mixed attackers like Protean Greninja and pursuit users such as Tyranitar and Weavile. It also reduces damage taken from Psyshock and Psystrike such as Latios and Tapu Lele. Natural Cure helps rid Chansey of annoying status conditions that would otherwise whittle its HP down rapidly as it does not have Leftovers recovery to help mitigate it. It also helps not necessitate Heal Bell on this set, as Chansey will struggle relying on Heal Bell as its only means of cleansing status conditions due to its very low PP. Eviolite is the crux of the set, boosting Chansey's defensive stats by 50%, bolstering its Defense and Special Defense.

[Team Options]
Chansey best fits on balanced or stall playstyles, with teammates that make up for Chansey's glaring weaknesses to physical attackers, certain set-up Pokemon and stallbreakers. Mega Sableye is by far Chansey's greatest ally. It is a great Knock Off switch in as it does not lose its Sablenite when struck. Additionlly, its Ghost- and Dark-type allow it to check Fighting-types Chansey normally has trouble with such as Buzzwole and Mega Medicham. It also has Magic Bounce to reflect dangerous status moves like Taunt and Toxic back, covering for Chansey's weakness to these moves. Chanseys lacking Transform run the risk of being used as set up fodder, so Unaware Pokemon such as Quagsire and Clefable make nice teammates, helping check the likes of Xurkitree, Zygarde and Serperior. Teammates like Skarmory, Landorus-T and Slowbro are especially useful in checking Pokemon such as Excadrill, Kartana, Mega Pinsir and Mega Aerodactyl, Pokemon Chansey is heavily threatened by as they target its much lower Defense stat. Chansey lacks passive recovery through Leftovers so it is especially vunerable to being chipped away at by entry hazards - especially if it switches into a Volt Switch and threatened out immediately. Therefore, teammates that provide hazard removal is appreciated. Skarmory and Zapdos both can take on Fighting types that force Chansey out whilst packing Defog to remove hazards. Landorus-T can also provide this service but it will cost it its Sketch move. Again, Mega Sableye is invaluable for its ability to deter entry hazard moves from even being used thanks to its ability to switch in to many common users such as defensive Landorus-T, Skarmory and Ferrothorn. Since Chansey forces out a large percentage of special attackers, teammates that can utilize entry hazards help further punish the opponent's switches. Again, Skarmory is ideal as it can set up Spikes whilst also pairing well with Chansey, forming a solid defensive core. Slowbro also handles many physical attackers and can Sketch Spikes or Toxic Spikes to aid its team. It also is a solid switch in on common Defog users like Aerodactyl and Landorus-T. Lastly, Toxapex naturally has access to Toxic Spikes to spread poison to the opposing team, freeing up one of Chansey's moveslot should one have chosen Toxic as a move. Toxapex also helps deal with Fighting-type Pokemon thanks to its respectable bulk and Poison typing.

[Usage Tips]
Chansey is extremely vunerable to Knock Off so attempt to scout for this move on Pokemon that can potentially carry it such as Mew and Mega Venusaur. Losing Eviolite can be the difference between a 2HKO and a solid 3HKO. For instance, Chansey lacking its Eviolite fails to take two Choice Specs Boombursts from Porygon-Z and struggles even more to combat boosting sweepers like Tapu Lele, Serperior and Magearna. Chansey also has a tough time handling users of Taunt such as Serperior, Heatran and Tapu Fini as that disables most of Chansey's moves and limits it to using Seismic Toss. Take care not to attempt to combat these Pokemon, unless they're sufficiently weakened. Chansey takes a lot of damage from powerful wallbreakers such as Choice Specs Hoopa-U, Tapu Lele and Serperior with a few Special Attack boosts, so it's imperative that you use recovery moves often to maintain Chansey's HP. If using Transform and facing a set up sweeper, keep in mind that Chansey's large HP and Eviolite boosts are maintained whilst undergoing transformation. This means that it is often able to muscle past its counterpart with ease, and perhaps even able to sweep the opponent, provided they lack means to counter their own respective sweeper. However, Transform cannot bypass Substitutes so Chansey will have to use alternative strategies to overcome it. This problem is even greater if the opposing Pokemon is capable of creating Substitutes with HP greater than 100, as it can survive one Seismic Toss before breaking. It is adviced that one scout for Substitute users before haphazardly using Transform.

[Other Options
Wish is an option alongside, not as a replacement for, Soft-Boiled, to heal up Chansey's teammates. This can be especially useful if said teammates lack reliable recovery. Allies like Celesteela and Tapu Fini appreciate receiving huge amounts of HP through this move. Thunder Wave is useful for halving your foe's Speed stat, but Chansey still struggles to outpace even paralyzed Pokemon at times, and the status condition seldom makes an impact thanks to its low trigger percentage. An alternative EV spread of 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 SpD allows Chansey to further bolster its mixed defenses at the cost of its HP. Notably, this spread allows Chansey to guarantee survival against two Choice Specs Porygon-Z Boombursts after Stealth Rock, something the standard spread fails to do. Though it does make Chansey more vunerable to physical threats and users of Psyshock and Psystrike. U-turn gifts Chansey with a way to generate momentum upon forcing a switch, gifting its teammates a free switch. This move is best used with offensive Pokemon that appreciate free switch ins such as Mega Mawile and Hoopa-U. Rapid Spin as a Sketch move can be slotted in to provide even more utility for Chansey's team, though as Chansey itself doesn't enjoy switching in to any type of entry hazard, hazard removal may be a job best left to allies. Taunt could be used to stop opposing Pokemon from taking advantage of Chansey's passive nature. Pokemon such as Ferrothorn and Skarmory are denied from setting up hazards or using Leech Seed or Whirlwind respectively. However, Chansey is much too slow to truly take good advantage of the move, as many Pokemon like Gengar can still get off their dangerous status moves before Chansey can. Strength Sap could be useful over Soft-Boiled to heal up HP equivalent to the opposing Pokemon's Attack stat, though it is quite unreliable. For instance against Pokemon like Mega Alakazam and opposing Chanseys one would recover a pitiful amount of health. Chansey does lure in physical attackers with large Attack stats though, so against the correct team Chansey can get a lot of mileage from this move. Another downside is that as Chansey has a very large HP stat, Strength Sap is inheretly less efficient and potentially worse than Soft-Boiled in a few situations, making Chansey easier to wear down.

[Checks & Counters]
Knock Off / Trick users - Eviolite is where most of Chansey's defensive power lies. Losing access to the item limits Chansey's ability to switch in and wall common special attackers. Additionally, being tricked a Choice item by foes such as Latios and Jirachi means Chansey not only loses out on having its defensive stats amplified, it will also be locked into one move after a turn, effectively reducing its defensive presence.

Physical Attackers - Despite heavy EV investment and Eviolite's Defense boost, Chansey's Defense stat is still quite lacking and thus physical attackers are effective at KO'ing it. Fighting types are especially effective at threatening Chansey, as many of them, including Keldeo, Terrakion and Mega Medicham, pack enough power to knock Chansey out in one blow. Additionally, Pokemon such as Greninja and Kartana can carry physical Fighting-type coverage to crush Chansey and, when powered up by Fightinium Z, can secure a 2HKO or an OHKO respectively.

Powerful wallbreakers - Pokemon such as Nasty Plot Hoopa-U and Tapu Lele with a Sketch'd set-up move like Quiver Dance or Tail Glow can easily disperse with Chansey, as their powerful Psyshock attacks deal too much damage for Chansey to handle. The same can also be said about Serperior, but it must accumulate a fair number of Special Attack boosts before it can be considered a KO threat on Chansey, and if it lacks Taunt or Substitute it also fears Transform or Toxic.

Fast Substitute / Taunt users - Chansey heavily relies on status moves to help it wall Pokemon so users of Taunt can effectively shut it down with ease, shutting off its access to most of its moves, including recovery, making it a lot easier to take down. Substitute also prevents moves such as Transform and Toxic from working, but Chansey can Seismic Toss to break most substitutes in one attack. Ghost-types like Gengar and Pokemon with a base HP greater than 100 like Suicune are able to take no damage / take one Seismic Toss respectively, however, so Chansey struggles to combat these Pokemon.

(I understand your mindset with this move but i just don't see it being viable on chansey. I'll allow it since it seems interesting. ZDL and Nerdy can deal with it if they wish)
- Topsy Turvy is an option for Chansey if no Sketch moves have been used. This helps Chansey deal with set-up Pokemon without having to commit to transforming into the opposing Pokemon with Transform. Though in most instances it pales in comparison to Transform, as it lacks the strength of the punish Transform has. /* Worded weirdly (See above)

A very good analysis, and one that I struggled to find much wrong with. Address my comments, and you'll get QC 2/3. But I know that should be simple.

Why Nerdy, it's your turn to do this now.

Um this is my first QC but ill try my best - cant say ill have much to say because OF and ZDL have been quite thorough and aside from that your analysis seems very good. I shall follow the trend of comments in bold ig.
wip please dont comment on this
QC Checks = 2/3

[Defensive Wall]
Chansey @ Eviolite
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk

Perhaps mention z-fighting moves on physical attackers such as kartana, as it also KO's chansey.

This isn't strictly necessary as you allude to it several times, but I would say the biggest check to chansey are sub/taunt users, as they force chansey to swap out and can potentially boost up. So potentially you could have a separate "Fast set-up taunt/sub users" section.
Tbh pretty much nothing to fault, great analysis and enjoy the QC 3/3 :)
