Slowbro (Psychic) [QC: 0/3] [GP: 0/2]

[OVERVIEW]

Psychic
========
* Slowbro serves as the best physically defensive Pokemon Psychic has to offer.

* Due to its amazing ability in regenerator, it can serve as a defensive pivot, switching in to soak up hits and switching back out without actually losing any hp.

*In addition to its ability, Slowbro also has a great defensive typing, only being super effectively weak to uncommon STABs such as grass, electric, and bug.

* While Slowbro boasts an impressive 110 defense stat, its special Defense is lacking, meaning it often cannot switch in on strong special attacks, super effective or otherwise. This, and its barely average special attack means that Slowbro loses to Pokemon that its typing suggests it shouldn’t, such as Mega Diancie and Volcarona.

*Alternatively to being a defensive pivot, Slowbro can also use a calm mind, or defensive duel dance set, making it a primary wincon instead.

*The calm mind and duel dance sets are often used on Mega Slowbro instead of the regular, as the immediate bulk increase allows Slowbro to safely set up and begin to sweep.

*A drawback of Mega Slowbro is that psychic already has a tight race for the mega slot. Psychic can use Mega Latias, Mega Gallade, Mega Alakazam, or Mega Gardevoir, each having their own niches and good matchups. Making slowbro obsolete on certain team builds that require a different mega.

move 2: Slack Off
move 3: Thunder wave
move 4: Flamethrower
item: Rocky Helmet
ability: Regenerator
nature: Bold
evs: 252 Hp / 252 Def / 4 Spa

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

*Scald is the standard water STAB for Slowbro, as Slowbro can switch in, eat hits, and use scald for chip damage and have a chance at burning the enemy Pokemon, crippling them.

*Slack Off is for back up recovery for when Slowbro can’t switch out, or if regenerator cannot heal enough.

*Thunder Wave helps Slowbro spread status among the opposing team, giving teammates such as Latios and Victini an easier chance to sweep.

*Flamethrower allows slowbro to deal super affective damage to Pokemon that would normally switch in, such as ferrothorn.

Set Details
========
* 252 hp and 252 defense and the bold nature are on the slowbro to maximize its physical defense, giving Slowbro the ability to tank neutral hits and recover the damage with Regenerator or Slack Off.

* 4 Spa evs are to make scald and flamethrower do slightly more damage. Rocky Helmet is on the Slowbro because it means that Slowbro can switch in and immediately switch out into an offensive threat and still deal chip damage.

* Regenerator as Slowbros best ability by far, allowing it to gain 1/3rd of its maximum HP every time it switches out, allowing Slowbro to preform its job as a defensive pivot even better.

Usage Tips
========

* Slowbro should be used as a pivot into Pokemon that are strong physically such as, Terrakion, Mega-Swampert, and Excadrill.

* Utilize Slack Off and Regenerator wisely in order to keep the health of Slowbro high.

* Do not use Slowbro to tank specially based attacks, as the special defense on Slowbro is low, and it will not take them well.

* Scald as often as possible for chip damage and potential burns.

* Slowbro doesn’t have very good damage output, don’t rely on Slowbro to beat things like landorus-incarnate and mega diancie, as it misses the ko and gets 2hkod in return.

* Avoid letting Slowbro get poison at any time in the game, as being poisoned severely cripples its ability to be a physical wall.

Team Options
========

* Slowbro is best paired with powerful attackers, as Slowbro supports them defensively with its great ability to soak hits. An example of these are Latios and Victini, as victini and latios both lose stats after using their most powerful attacks, and often need to switch out after using them, and Slowbro provides a defensive backbone.

* Slowbro also likes to be paired with a specially defensive tank, like jirachi, as slowbro can’t eat special hits and needs a specially defensive mon paired with it so that it does not have to be the lone defensive backbone to the entire team, allowing it to do its job better.

[SET]
name: Defensive Sweeper (Psychic)
move 1: scald
move 2: iron defense / flamethrower
move 3: calm mind
move 4: Slack off
item: Slowbronite
Ability: Regenerator
nature: Bold
evs: 252 Hp / 80 Def / 176 SpD

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========
* Scald is the sole attack on the duel dance set, being one of Slowbros STABs, as well as being able to spread burns, and having no types that are immune to it, all make scald this sets best attacking move.

* Calm mind to be able to make the scald stronger, as well as boosting Slowbros special defense, making it harder to break when paired with it’s mega ability, shell armor.

* Iron defense to give slowbro the ability to beat powerful physical attackers such as banded kyurem-black, as well as the ability to beat opposing sweepers, such as refresh mega altaria.

* You may also run psyshock in this slot, to increase its ability to hit more things neutrally after calm minds, as well as giving it the ability to beat Pokemon like Mega Venusaur without relying on stalling it out.

* Slack off as Slowbros best source of reliable recovery.

Set Details
========
* Slowbronite to allow slowbro to utilize its mega, as its mega is the key to the set.

* Regenerator to allow Slowbro to also work decently as a defensive pivot before it begins its setup.

* 252 HP to maximize its ability to take both physical and special hits.

* 176 special defense with a bold nature allows slowbro to beat threats like Hydreigon as well as Mega Charizard Y if they switch into Slowbro after a Calm mind, as well as giving Slowbro the ability to live a Magnet Volt Switch from Tapu Koko at Full HP.

* After 176 Special Defense the rest of the evs and the bold nature are put into Defense, giving Slowbro more defense, to allow it to take less from Pokemon like Bisharp and Scizor.

Usage Tips
========

* It is heavily recommended to avoid setting Slowbro set up before every mon that commonly carries toxic is killed, as if Slowbro is poisoned, it essentially loses it’s ability to sweep entirely.

* Avoid revealing the mega too early in the game, as revealing the mega early not only rids you of your Regenerator ability, but it also gives the opponent an incentive to keep their toxic Pokemon alive to avoid getting swept.

* Be smart with your choice of which setup move to use first. If your opponent cannot 2hko you with the Pokemon they have out currently, and they have a Pokemon in the back that can break you, it is best to set up for that Pokemon instead of the on in front of you, so that you are not forced to switch out.

Team Options
========

* Duel Dance Slowbro is best paired with powerful breakers such as Specs Latios or Banded Victini, as Duel Dance Slowbro struggles to break the defensive cores of certain types like water, which commonly carries a haze Pokemon.

* Slowbro also appreciates having stealth rock setters as a partner, such as jirachi, so that Slowbro can not get phased out by Sturdy pokemon such as Skarmory, or focus sash pokemon, such as focus sash roar Garchomp.

**Status spreaders**: Status such as Poison Severely cripple every variant of Slowbro. It is recommended to switch out on every status spreader.

**Powerful Special Attackers**: Powerful special attacker’s such as Choiced Specs Kingdra, Latios, Mega Diancie, and Volcarona, all outspeed and 2hko Slowbro.

**Electric Types**: Powerful Electric types such as, Tapu Koko, Raichu Alola, and Thundurus all can Ohko Slowbro while slowbro can’t ko in return.**

**Bug Types**: Big Types like, Volcarona and Galvantula not only beat Slowbro with their powerful bug STABs, they also set up, either preparing a sweep, or setting sticky webs, which Psychic Does not appreciate.

**Dark Types**: Slowbro gets beaten by all of Darks most powerful attackers, such as Tyranitar, Mega-Sharpedo, Darkium Z Bisharp, and Hydreigon, as well as getting poisoned by Mandibuzz.

AM stuff here, so no need to do anything, but I believe you have to write this out in bullet point format until you get your 2nd QC check. Looks pretty good though, so all I’d do is just break it up by pieces of information.

You’re also missing a lot of capitalization, remember that Slowbro, Mega Slowbro, HP, Defense, etc are capitalize. Also I’d try to avoid little slang terms like “eat hits” but this is all more of a GP remark.

Here’s an example of the bullet point format.

Nothing personal, I protect my people
Right off the bat, this analysis has a plethora of problems throughout, ranging from Smogon-specific grammar issues, misunderstanding on why certain things are used over others, a general lack of information in every area, almost no examples of anything outside of Checks and Counters, and even a lack of understanding as to how Slowbro is used. The format for the analysis is also messed up, which can be fixed by looking at any of the other analyses, specifically those at QC 1/3 or those that have not moved into the write-up phase. Here is an example of what is to be expected quality wise, also be sure to follow the same format that this analysis uses, i.e. get rid of all of the extra spacing between bullet points: http://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/mega-altaria-qc-1-3-gp-0-2.3613828/

At this point I would need to re-write the entire analysis, almost from scratch.

QC 1/3 Rejected

Yeah, just read through this and it's obvious we'll need to write the entire analysis ourselves, there's too less detail and so much is just incorrect. You should read some uploaded analyses to get a better idea of the quality we expect. Sorry.

QC 2/3 Rejected

Will work on the formatting more when I have time. Does anyone mind elaborating on the misinformation/misunderstanding?
