Moves

Thunderbolt is boosted by Electric Terrain, which makes it Tapu Koko's strongest attack, capable of OHKOing Heatran and Mega Scizor after Stealth Rock damage. Dazzling Gleam is a solid secondary STAB move that OHKOes offensive Zygarde, Kyurem-B, and Latios with very little prior damage. It also 2HKOes Alolan Marowak after Stealth Rock damage. Volt Switch is used in order to pivot around and get the appropriate amount of chip damage on Pokemon Tapu Koko cannot OHKO such as Magearna and Tyranitar. The last moveslot depends on what one's team necessitates; Hidden Power Ice is a great option to OHKO Landorus-T, but Hidden Power Fire can be used to nail Ferrothorn if Tapu Koko is paired with solid Landorus-T answers such as Mega Latias and fast Mew. Grass Knot can also be used to OHKO Mega Swampert and 2HKO Gastrodon and Mega Camerupt on the switch.

Set Details
========

Maximum Speed investment and a Timid nature are mandatory to outpace threatening Pokemon such as Greninja and Weavile. The remaining EVs are thrown into Special Attack to hit as hard as possible. Choice Specs is the best item on this set for the insane power it provides. Electric Surge is Tapu Koko's available ability, boosting its Electric-type attacks to frightening levels.

Usage Tips
========

This set plays very differently from Tapu Koko's traditional sets, since it takes risks by locking itself into attacks; this is especially notable when the opponent has a Dugtrio to trap Tapu Koko. Tapu Koko should be wary of attacking Protect users such as Celesteela and Mega Sableye because it forces Tapu Koko into awkward positions if its Choice Specs has been revealed. Because of this, try to bring it in on other Pokemon that cannot scout its move such as Toxapex and Mew.

Before mindlessly firing off an attack, see what type of Tapu Koko switch-in the opponent has; if the opponent has a Grass-type or Assault Vest Magearna, spam Volt Switch to wear it down; if your opponent has multiple Ground-types or uses a Ground-type as their only Tapu Koko answer, spam Dazzling Gleam instead to prevent them from getting initiative. Hidden Power Ice can be used to surprise defensive Landorus-T. Other coverage options in Hidden Power Fire and Grass Knot should be timed correctly to catch standard checks such as Ferrothorn and Mega Swampert off guard. Lastly, it should be noted that this set has no recovery. Even if this set has Volt Switch for teammates, it is best to not play recklessly, as Choice Specs Tapu Koko can have insane matchups at times.

Team Options
========

Tapu Koko fits very well on VoltTurn cores, so look no further than Pokemon such as Landorus-T and Mega Scizor, both of which bait in Pokemon that Tapu Koko threatens such as Zapdos and Toxapex. One of the main disadvantages of this set is the lack of Roost and Taunt, meaning common entry hazard stacking cores can defeat Tapu Koko with passive damage. As such, hazard removers in Mew, Latios, Mantine, Tapu Fini, and the aforementioned Mega Scizor are prime options for teammates. Toxic Spikes is the main hazard that cuts into Tapu Koko's longevity, so Toxic Spikes absorbers such as Toxapex, Mega Venusaur, and even Alolan Muk can be utilized.

Tapu Koko supports numerous offensive Pokemon; Mega Medicham and Kyurem-B directly benefit from Electric Terrain, as they gain useful boosts to their coverage moves to throw normal checks such as Mew and Mega Scizor off guard. Zygarde is a phenomenal teammate because it wears down Tangrowth with Toxic or eliminates it with Devastating Drake. Mega Tyranitar is also a solid teammate that appreciates Ground- and Grass-types being worn down. Tapu Koko appreciates lures to Mega Venusaur, another bulky Grass-type that counters Tapu Koko; Steelium Z Magearna and Extrasensory Ash-Greninja can do massive damage to it.

I'm a huge fan of HP Ice on Specs just because u OHKO fat Lando-T 100% of the time which is really nice early game considering that a lot of people just expect you to U-turn on it. Me personally I'd rarely use HP Fire just because most of the time I'm probably just going to click Volt on Ferro switch-ins anyway, but it's probably more "optimal" to slash HP Fire first. That's just my opinion tho.

Read through and looks solid.

I agree with Ice over Fire. Even though Ferrothorn is super tempting keeping Grounds out to help freely spam Thunderbolt and Volt Switch is usually worth the trade-off.

amcheck, you don't have to implement this and it doesn't count as an official GP check unless stamped by a GP member

This set plays much very differently from its Tapu Koko's traditional sets, (AC) since it takes risks by using choice locked locking itself into attacks.; (period -> semicolon) this is especially notable when the opponent has a Dugtrio. (could you clarify why?) Tapu Koko should avoid taking advantage of attacking (feel free to change this in a different, more accurate way, but from what you write I conclude that Specs Koko can, in fact, not take advantage of Protect users at all, so it's not something it can avoid doing) Protect users such as Celesteela and Mega Sableye because it forces Tapu Koko into awkward positions if its Choice Specs has been revealed. Because of this, try to come bring it in on other Pokemon that cannot scout its move such as Toxapex and Mew.

Before mindlessly firing off an attack, see what type of Tapu Koko switch- (AH)in the opponent has.; (period -> semicolon) if the opponent has a Grass-type or Assault Vest Magearna, spam Volt Switch to wear them it down.; (period -> semicolon) if your opponent has multiple Ground-types or uses a Ground-types as their only Tapu Koko answer, spam Dazzling Gleam instead to prevent them from getting initiative. Other coverage options in Hidden Power Fire and Grass Knot should be timed correctly to throw off catch standard checks such as Ferrothorn and Mega Swampert off guard. Lastly, it should be noted this set has no recovery. Even if this set has Volt Switch to produce for teammates, it is best to not play very aggressively, (AC) as Choice Specs Tapu Koko can have insane matchups at times. (this last part makes no sense to me. do I not play Koko aggresively in good matchups? is that because of the lack of recovery? please clarify)

As such, hazards removers in Mew, Latios, Mantine, Tapu Fini, and the aforementioned Mega Scizor are prime options for teammates. Toxic Spikes is the main hazard that cuts into Tapu Koko's offensive potential (forgive my ignorance, but I don't see how being poisoned prevents Koko from firing off Specs-boosted attacks, so maybe clarify?), so Toxic Spikes absorbers such as Toxapex, Mega Venusaur, and even Alolan Muk can be utilized.

Tapu Koko supports numerous offensive Pokemon.; (period -> semicolon) Mega Medicham and Kyurem-B directly benefit from the Electric Terrain, (AC) as they gain useful boosts to their coverage moves to throw normal checks such as Mew and Mega Scizor off guard.
