UU OMs Mega Thread

Are you tired of playing against the same, overused Pokemon? Well now you don't have to! This thread is to discuss, and possibly to find opponents to play in, the UU of OMs. The banlist is obtained as follows: Pokemon with more than 3.41% usage in the 1500 weighted usage stats.

Here are the banlists for each OM with a ladder:

Rules:
  • Only discuss UU metagames; go to the respective threads for regular discussion.
  • Be sure to include what metagame you're talking about as there are many being discussed at once. Also, tag people or quote posts when you reply to ensure we all understand what is going on.
  • Be sure to follow the metagame specific rules. If Shadow Tag is banned in AAA, for example, it will be banned in AAA UU as well.

MAMP!
Victini looks to be very strong in 1v1 UU, as its biggest enemies (Aegis, Dragonite, Garchomp, Greninja, Zard X) are all absent. Rotom-H and Tornadus (both forms) look potent in UU Sky Battles.

formerly The Reptile
Interesting - Kangaskan is in OU STABmons while Stoutland is in UU. However, Scrappy might not be that important considering the best ghosts aren't even in the tier. Still, Scrappy ESpeed is really nice. Also Braviary is now best bird :)

Shell Smash Boomburst + impeccable coverage Exploud is a top-tier threat in UU STABmons. And to make matters worse, there are very less Special Walls to contain it.

DinaIsha Stoutland scares me more, as it can spam Scrappy BD Espeed with impunity, really only getting checked by Metagross or Forretress w/o the right coverage, Unaware Clefable, Gliscor, and Focus Sash Magic Guard Alakazam.

+6 252 Atk Stoutland Fire Fang vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Metagross: 302-356 (82.9 - 97.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
(Not very reliable)
+6 252 Atk Stoutland Crunch vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Metagross: 372-438 (102.1 - 120.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO
(ded)
4 Atk Metagross Meteor Mash vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Stoutland: 138-163 (44.2 - 52.2%) -- 16% chance to 2HKO
(Metagross fails to KO back however)

+6 252 Atk Stoutland Superpower vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Forretress: 264-311 (74.5 - 87.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
(Strongest attack v. Forretress without Fire Fang)
+6 252 Atk Stoutland Fire Fang vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Forretress: 572-676 (161.5 - 190.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO
(Sturdy+Burst can save it here but the Stoutland player should know to have rocks up already)

252 Atk Stoutland Extreme Speed vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Unaware Clefable: 102-121 (25.8 - 30.7%) -- 4.3% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery
+6 252 Atk Stoutland Extreme Speed vs. 244 HP / 252+ Def Gliscor: 286-337 (81.2 - 95.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Poison Heal

Besides acting as check to setup, Clefable can run an offensive set with Geomancy or Calm Mind/Cosmic Power.

Rain could see some resurgence with Politoed, Thundurus-T, Rotom-W, Starmie, Heliolisk, Hydration Tail Glow Accelgor, Blastoise, and Sharpedo among others. Klefki's there to provide Rain support too.

The Slowbrothers still have their partner Amoonguss/Tangrowth for a great Regencore, though Thundurus-T breaks through it similar to its Incarnate counterpart up above at #11.

Nidoking looks like a nice threat with a Coil set finally, and can give Unaware Clefable a hard time with Sheer Force boosted STAB Gunk Shot.

Updated with December usage stats. We have BH stats this month!

UU OMs were requested multiple times; why is this thread so dead? D:

Do you guys want a UU tournament or something?
Well, we had a BH UU tournament a while back, but the meta has changed so much that it might be worth having another one.

Inverse Battle UU Banlist looks kinda... strange?

Steels like Scizor, Ferrothorn, and Bisharp are in the banlist but not things like Meloetta, Keldeo, Gallade, Zygarde and Cresselia.

Maybe this is because people use OU teams in Inverse?

Arcanine seems good in AAA UU when it is the only remaining viable user of Extreme Speed in its tier. Refrigerate seems to work well in conjunction with Wild Charge and Flare Blitz.

Wow Kangaskhan is in STABmons UU. Insta BL. Thundurus-T is a big threat too. I've used it to check threats in regular STABmons but here it would be a full offensive beast. I'm happy my bae Tangrowth is allowed but the things it wants to check are mostly up in OU.

As far as BH UU is concerned, here are some of my first impressions:

• Nothing has to worry about Shedinja. Everything gets another free moveslot for coverage or priority.

• I have no idea why, but Yveltal and Tyranitar-Mega are allowed. Yveltal can run a really obnoxious Aerilate set with Knock Off, as well as its more typical Poison Heal sets. Mega Tyranitar is also going to be really irritating in this meta. With fewer powerful wallbreakers, as well as a tier filled with (with the exception of Mega Alakazam) remarkably slow attackers, its Poison Heal set will be able to set up ridiculously easily.

• Because of all the powerful Dark-types, Audino-Mega (how is this UU?) will be really important. Fur Coat specially defensive or Soundproof physically defensive sets could be solid -ate walls, especially because Yveltal is the strongest -ate there is.

• I'm liking the sound of a Ferrothorn - Mega Audino - Ho-oh core.

Overall, this meta appears a little more oriented toward stall, or at least bulky offense. Countless walls that are useful in standard BH, such as the aforementioned few, Regirock, Cresselia, Heatran, and Mega Venusaur, are usable, while the only attackers are either bulky and relatively low-powered (Mega Tyranitar, Yveltal, Ho-oh, Giratina-O), or extremely frail (Mega Alakazam, Mega Charizard Y, Mega Gardevoir).

The problem with STABmons UU is that, no matter how weak or lack luster, offensive mons still get their OP setup moves in SS and SG.

Walls, which are solely useful because of their stats or seldom ability, are all wedged up in OU. Stall has no scope here.

At least, if at all a good Stall core is found, it'll struggle, much like in the overtly offensive Metagamiate.

Bulky Sand Offense, let's go

question: are arceus forms under the cutoff legal, or are they illegal because arceus normal is above the cutoff?

I vote to call them illegal. Also, you reminded me that Garchomp-Mega is going to be extremely good because nothing very good runs Refrigerate or Pixilate except Mega Gardevoir.

They're illegal due to Arceus mechanics forcing all Arceus without Multitype + Plate to become Arc-Normal. They have different formes which is why some are below cutoff, but mechanistically all are the same.

no I mean can I use Arceus-Rock with multitype and Stone Plate? because that would work really well on a bulky offense sand team o.o

STABmons UU is basically Setup, Setup everywhere.

If only we could discount Moves and Items based on usage.

Wait, that could be a nice OM idea.

There are still checks to setup in UU, just in different capacities.

Alakazam, Blissey, Deoxys, Forretress, Gliscor, Klefki, Meowstic-M, Murkrow, Porygon2, Rotom-Heat, and Zapdos are a mix of utility and walls that have niches in checking common strategies.

And none of them can handle a Belly Drum ESpeed and Knock Off (Or a Belly Drum EQ/Fighting Move for Klefki). At least we have Blissey for a Special Wall, but falls to surprise mixed offensive Mons.
