SPOILERS! Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl Data Dumps

Mt. Coronet's Dawn Stone will mostly be useful for Froslass. I remember back in Platinum it being available at Pastoria still felt way too late for Gallade
With how Sinnoh is formatted, I consider the mere existence of Snorunt pre-National Dex a win.

Real talk, it's super weird that only Psychic Terrain got cut. The rest of them are still in. :smogduck:
Did... no... Could they have started making this game in Gen 6? When there were only three terrains? Surely not.

There's actually a reason why Psychic terrain isn't in the game. It has to do with TM's and learn set. A quick look shows that every single terrain has at least one Pokémon before gen 5 who learns it naturally with one exception. Psychic terrain. The first Pokémon to learn it by dex number is Musharna. Everything else before learns it by egg move or TM. None of the terrains have TM's, and they only had it as an egg move in USUM. It would have been impossible for any mon to naturally have that move unless you brought it in from outside. That's likely why it was cut and not any of the others.

Edit: Looking again at the move sets, Misty Terrain just barely squeaked by. Only Gardevoir can learn it naturally in gen 8 and therefore in BDSP. Also I almost mistyped BDSP while writing this into something else, and I can't believe how long it took me to realize how close it was to another less family friendly acronym.

Edit 2: Woops. Looks like others do learn Misty Terrain through egg moves. Guess it isn't Gardevoir's signature in this game after all.

I think it is more likely that they cut all later gen moves that no Gen I-IV pokémon could learn by level-up. This is true for every move (that otherwise aren't signature moves) from Gen V and beyond that got cut in BDSP, like Electroweb, Tail Slap, Power Trip and yes, Psychic Terrain.

Yeah, exactly. On the other hand, Psychic Terrain could have been given to one of the Gen I-IV pokémon and restored as an Egg move for those who had it in USUM.

Drowzee would have been an excellent candidate for Psychic Terrain, since (1) it already got it as an Egg move in USUM and (2) it needed more moves as compensation for the loss of Meditate, Wake-Up Slap and Synchronoise.
Instead it got two more level-up slots with Hypnosis :psysad:

So, this kinda flew over my head, but Spiritomb is also tied to NPCs now. (No confirmation for online regular players for obvious reasons)

This makes it much easier to get and future-proof. (Getting a legit Tomb in DP right now would be... rough.)

Edit: Legends-BDSP connection confirmed. Maybe Regional Forms/Cross-Gen Evos will be patched in?

I'm holding out hope that both online players and NPCs could count towards Spiritomb and they just added the latter method as a failsafe for people who don't have NSO and/or friends. I dunno, it might just be the copium talking, but we can't exactly test it right now, so we'll have to wait and see on release. (I also saw someone in the comments of that other Reddit thread somebody linked a while back saying they got Spiritomb before leaving Route 209 by grinding NPCs a bunch, which if that's the case, I will gladly take "tedious" over "impossible".) If nothing else, it'd be SUPER weird for them to make a level 25 mon effectively postgame by changing its encounter method for no good reason.

Well since people were posting their teams earlier, here's what mine will probably be:

1637004313312.png

The team I mentioned on the first thread contained Glaceon, Gliscor, and Rotom-W, all of which are obviously out of commission. So with half my team gone, I had to reassess.

Basically this team is built to matchup against Cynthia. This is the first time I don't think I'll run a Water or Flying type because without HMs, I just frankly don't see the point.

Anyway, all Sinnoh mons. Some overlapping types but they all accomplish different things. Two physical attackers (Gallade, Mamoswine), two special attackers (Magnezone, Roserade), one mixed attacker (Infernape, my favorite), and a mixed wall/supporter (Bronzong, might even run Trick Room if need be).

I think this team will be fairly solid. Hopefully I can obtain all of them without too much strain.

I tried to look at the Spiritomb script for some clues. Sadly, it doesn't tell us much without the function that handles the talk count for Spiritomb. However, the script command that calls that function is called _GET_UG_NPC_TALK_COUNT, so make of that what you will.

I suppose that settles it then. NPCs only. The only question remaining is if you can use the same NPC like how you could talk to the same person in DP.

By the way... Could you please post the Rotom script? I'm curious about how easy would it be to remove the Nat. Dex requirement for it.

I bet it's just a flag that's set when you get the national dex

I'd say just tweak that flag but that would probably mess with a ton of other post game things...

Rather than tweak the flag, you'd remove the flag check, so that it does not ask for anything in the first place.

The relevant part of the script is this one:

Oh yeah I used that website, but it only shows my team in sprite form
Nevermind I figured out the issue: I was doing it on mobile
Screen Shot 2021-11-15 at 2.51.29 PM.png

Here's what I plan to use (is there a better place for this stuff?)

Torterra - My favorite starter and one of my favorite Pokemon. Obviously I have to choose him. I also really like Empoleon (second favorite starter) but between the two Torterra gets the edge
Staraptor - I'm warming up to it. Birds are cool, so is Staraptor. And he's also very powerful. Whoever said "give this regional bird Close Combat" is a genius and needs a raise and head
Floatzel - I'm obligated to use this one because of an inside joke I have with my friend. Even without that he's still a very cool and cute Pokemon with a clever design. I think it learns some Ice moves too which will definitely be useful
Rampardos - As a competitive player I really like Rampardos. Not because he's good but because he proves that having a single high stat isn't everything. The Rampardos Theorem. Outside of that I also like Rampardos cause he's cool and I like dinosaurs. I'm tempted to shiny hunt for it since I like Red.
Gardevoir - One of my favorite Pokemon and I haven't used one yet, so I'll definitely take the opportunity here. Gardevoir has everything you need for a playthrough. Cool design, useful typing, good utility moves (Trick Room lol) and most importantly it's immune to Garchomp's Dragon stab.
Houndoom - Even though it's very mean looking, I'm warming up to Houndoom. It is a dog after all, and dogs are pretty cool, plus I wanted a Fire type and I don't care for Rapidash and especially not Magmortar. Dark typing is also very helpful.

Someone knows if we have anything new for Leafeon/Glaceon? Empoleon too ^^'
Empoleon is pretty much the same, but now it got Work Up for early-game at least.

Glaceon and Leafeon are pretty much the same. You can at least get some STAB when evolving, but Glaceon will still eat a chunk of your TMs (At least you can buy Ice Beam easily) and Leafeon... Is still kinda screwed.

Lv. 50 for Leaf Blade.

Movepools are here: https://pastebin.com/EvzBuKhr

Thank you SO MUCH!!!
