Welcome to Smogon! Take a moment to read the Introduction to Smogon for a run-down on everything Smogon, and make sure you take some time to read the global rules.
A lot of these I don’t have answers for, but Dunsparce is based off a Japanese Cryptid called a Tsuchinoko. Taken from a Cryptid site: “Signs a tsuchinoko may be in your area include hearing a mouse-like squeak coming from a river, or in some cases, a seemingly human voice mimicking your...
So there are some obvious answers, but here’s what I settled on.
Gengar and Misdreavus are the given ghost types for a ghost specialist this generation.
My first pick afterwards is Lapras. Cryptids are similarly prevalent in folklore and can be equally creepy at times (although Lapras is...
I’m going to change things up a bit and use only four of the default fairies. Thinking about team theming, Mawile actually does not fit with the other fairies available in terms of personality, so I’m going a but creative.
If we look at the other fairies, we see they all have a theme of song or...
I’m actually trying the second half as well more. I saw a couple of mons that I could probably justify that would be stronger for the team than Stunfisk. But Stunfisk just fits better thematically. But once I have a team, definitely going to try to make it as viable as possible.
This ended up being difficult because I actually had a few good ideas, but ultimately I marrowed it down. We can start with our resident Poison types
Garbodor
Scolipede
Amoongus
Now we spread the search. One of the firstthings to come to mind was Koga’s gym. Poison in Pokemon has a history of...
I think I’d go with a classic Dinosaurs/Reptiles are dragons to help fill out quite a few of the holes.
Bastiodon (dinosaur)
Torterra (turtle)
Gyarados (OK, not a dinosaur, but everyone has it as an honorary dragon)
Garchomp (dragon)
This is a good start, but now we start running into a few...
Compare Arena Trap/Shadow Tag on Diglett/Gothita. These two mons were still used in previous generations despite being pre-evolutions because these abilities are that good. Broken moves/abilities absolutely can break bad pokémon.
EDIT: will not respond further regardless of feelings on matter...
I think it has to do with an idea that you can’t unban something into a broken metagame. It maybe balanced with broken stuff around, or even “balance” the broken metagame, but broken checking broken is not a valid reason to have something in the metagame. So if you ban stuff later and now you...
Or Red was training and got stranded after a rockslide (which is why you needed Rock Climb) and has been living off of melted snow and actually murdered Pokémon meat for the last years.
