    2016 International Challenge January

With less than half a day left, I haven't even started :p Combination of work, the flu, and child rearing has kept me from participating. Oh well! There's always next time

VGC VGC 2016 Pokemon Showdown only team

Good question! It depends on the ruleset. If you're playing Flat Battles, then Lv 1 Pokemon will stay at Lv 1. However, if you're playing Normal Rules, then everything is set to 50. VGC 2016 live tournaments use Normal Battles because Flat Battles have bans on the legendaries.

VGC VGC 2016 Pokemon Showdown only team

Hey everyone, I don't post here often, but I just wanted to share a fun little gimmick team I dreamed up in my spare time when I'm not playing super standard stuff :p I'm currently in the 1500s on the VGC 2016 ladder. Aron Zheng (Aron) @ Berry Juice Ability: Sturdy Level: 1 EVs: 36 Spe Jolly...

    2016 International Challenge January

I'll see how many battles I can do for this...but between juggling a busy work schedule and a newborn baby, I doubt I'd get all 30 games in :p. I'm only familiar using my SURF and TURF team, which is basically Scar's 3rd place team modified somewhat...but I heard that R_Inanimate's Khanartist...

VGC Research and Analysis Project (Week 1: Mega Mawile)

I used Mawile almost exclusively during 2014 and loved it for her bulk and power. I ended up with around 140 CP that season, I think. In 2016, I see Mawile used as a check for Xerneas, Kang, and Salamence. I've seen it paired with Kyogre, to remove the Fire threat (and force Groudons to switch...

NPA - Anyone going to be playing in or following this?

I noticed some of the NPA managers were doing auditions on Showdown...you can probably get on the action just by joining the VGC chat room

Also good is the official Battlespot Anaylsis page: http://3ds.pokemon-gl.com/battle/oras/ You can see things like: common partners, Pokemon it deals with well, Pokemon that it doesn't deal with well, etc. Be sure to click on "Doubles"

NPA - Anyone going to be playing in or following this?

http://nuggetbridge.com/news/npa-4-commencement/ (Not sure what the rules are about posting outside links, feel free to edit/delete if necessary). I'm pretty stoked about NPA this year. For those of you who don't know, myself and Rapha (who got 2nd at Nats this year) started playing around the...

VGC 2015: Ask a Simple Question, Get a Simple Answer

I don't know about you...but I use Superpower with Landorus all the time...especially against Kang, Hydreigon, and Heatran. In fact, due to the on-going popularity of Kang and Heatran, fighting coverage is expected on almost all teams.

Starting From Scratch: Common Archetypes in the VGC 2015 Metagame.

A note for Trick Room is that it usually comes with Fake Out and/or Redirection users to help the setter get TR up. Mental Herb on setters (to get around Taunt) is fairly common, especially when Fake Out or Redirection is not available. Roar and Dragon Tail are a somewhat unorthodox ways to...

Starting From Scratch: Common Archetypes in the VGC 2015 Metagame.

Don't forget Hailroom if you're doing generic archetypes. I think it'd be good (and probably more helpful) to look at "Mega-cores"...basically instead of looking at a Mega on its own, what are the typical Pokemon that come with it? For example: Kang / Amoonguss / Lando-T Garde / Amoonguss /...

VGC 2015: Ask a Simple Question, Get a Simple Answer

Hey guys, I've been trying to figure this out but I still have no clue. In the final turn of this game, my opponent's Ice Shard failed. If it hit, it would've won him the game, but for some reason it didn't and I won. Can someone please explain?
