Bio

If there ever was someone to be jaded from extensive combat, it'd be Dimitri. As a Bisharp, he basically has all the tools he needs to be brutally effective in any battle... and he often can be, but he won't like it one bit. He'd once walked a bloody path, without much consideration for emotion, mercy, or decency. He was good at it. Too good, in fact.
One day, something clicked in him, and looking at his bloodied past, he came to despise brute force, and as a result, despise himself. Profoundly affected by how he turned out, he now appears extremely cold and rude, but that is only a facade: he doesn't feel like he deserves to be around other beings, and at the same time fears what he could do to his friends should he relapse into his blood frenzy.

Bio

Magnolia was the first to wake me up... as a Ralts again. Quite flustered herself, she explained that we somehow managed to slip through a space-time rift and end up in an alternate dimension where she and the others never evolved. Understandably, she was pissed at here renewd weakness -something she thought a thing of the past. However, she chose to set out one again with me and gain that power back.
Due to her past experience, it was but a formality to get back to her regular power level, though she claims wavering patterns in lunar energy keep her from accessing her true power. We'll see about that, because I have a feeling our quest is far from over...

Etymology, Attitude, and Background

Name Etymology:
A historical bolt-throwing weapon, also named the Domina Gunilda, mounted to Windsor Castle in the 1300s to repel intruders. The name spread to other large projectile emplacements, becoming synonymous with heavy artillery and the usage thereof.

Attitude and Motive:
Confident and conceited. Gunhilde is happiest as the center of others' awe and trepidation.

As a consequence of her efforts to grow stronger, she has managed to gain the respect many of Lou's other battling Pokemon, which brings her contentment whether she's willing to admit it or not.

Background:
ch.i: Gunhilde's previous trainer was interested only in her utility, putting her to work in heavy labor. Following his arrest, Gunhilde languished in storage before making her escape the first time she was released from her ball. She lived within city limits for months as a feral Pokemon, wracking up quite the hefty bounty in property damage taking what she needed. Rather than hand Gunhilde over and claim the reward for her capture, Lou offered her a place in his team.

ch.ii: The days of trouble that followed that meeting are as ancient history to the pair, now. Between that day and this one lay uncounted trials, failures, and victories; each of them spurring just a modicrum of growth and reflection. Carried along this tide of time and her own great effort, Gunhilde has blossomed from a street-dwelling petty thief into a highly respected and competent battling Pokemon. And to her credit, she has allowed only some of her success to go to her head.

Etymology, Attitude, and Background

Name Etymology:
Spirit of the Dawn in Sioux teachings. To keep the attention of the primordial spirit of darkness Han and protect humanity, Anpao dances with them ceaselessly, creating night and day.

Attitude and Motive:
A festive and joyous soul. Anpao is difficult to vex, and insists on pointing out silver linings to others who seem down.

Underneath her usual breezy demeanor, Anpao has grown more world-wise as a result of her efforts. More often than ever, she offers moments of startling insight.

Background:
ch.i: Found wild, young, and abandoned near Lou's home, long before he began battling. Raising the feral and rambunctious Anpao was both challenging and expensive. With the passing years, she as grown into a trusting and reliable member of the team. Even now, however, Lou has an unconscious preference for cheap, easily-replaced furniture...

ch.ii: The intervening years have done much to mature Anpao into a more socialized and considerate Pokemon, and done little to curb her exuberance.

Name Etymology:
Goddess of the state and of women in ancient Rome and an interpretation of the goddess Hera. This version of her mythos was more overtly warlike than her Greek counterpart.

Attitude and Motive:
Short-tempered and outspoken. Thick skin and patience are the key to dealing with this one.

Background:
Twin of Janus and his predecessor as a contest competitor. Whenever she was dragged to compete in a contest by her former trainer, she would bitterly protest. Fed up with managing an unruly and unwilling star, her trainer grew neglectful of her and began training her brother Janus for the role. Easily slipping away, noticed but unmissed, she quickly found trouble with her attitude and fled from neighborhood to neighborhood. Her trail of enemies leads to Lou's team.

We have had five players — cityscapes, epicdrill, Gemini Taurus, Keriel, and pratik2007 — end the year with highly winning records, with three wins this year each. Of those, though, two have remained undefeated, making them the least losing-players among these most-winning.

This pair well demonstrates the breadth of possibility inherent to BBP. You can play by making well-balanced and carefully-considered moves that accumulate advantage round-over-round, or you can aim to blow the opponent out right away and ride your momentum to the finish line. And either way you play, if you execute your plan well you can find success with it.

I can't well express how grateful I am to have players invest this much effort into their play—especially, for players to make our humble forum fangame their home, and to invest their time into pushing the limits of the game and themselves.
