Last Shroom Standing (An OU Warstory)

How's it going? This is my second warstory, featuring a very good match between me and an opponent named 85. Let's cut to the chase!

85 sent out Jirachi (lvl 100 Jirachi).
Dummy007 sent out Fleza (lvl 100 Azelf).
Dummy007 switched in Sodarayg (lvl 100 Gyarados ?).
Sodarayg's Intimidate cut Jirachi's attack!
Jirachi used Body Slam.
Sodarayg lost 19% of its health.
Sodarayg is paralysed! It may be unable to move!
---
Azelf: 100%
Gyarados: 89%, paralyzed
Jirachi: 100%
---
I switch to Gyarados here expecting Trick, Iron Head, or U-Turn. Unfortunately, Gyarados ends up crippled for the rest of the match. I've never seen a Lead Jirachi with Body Slam, so this was a big surprise.
---
85 switched in Zapdos (lvl 100 Zapdos).
Zapdos is exerting its pressure!
Sodarayg is paralysed! It can't move!
---
Zapdos: 100%
Gyarados: 95%, ticked at hax gods
---
Naturally, I keep Gyarados in to scout the switch, and it turns out to be none other than Zapdos, Gyarados's biggest counter. I don't expect him to Thunderbolt just yet, so I'll Stone Edge to scout or cripple it.
---
Zapdos used Substitute.
Zapdos lost 25% of its health.
Zapdos made a substitute!
Sodarayg used Stone Edge.
It's super effective!
The substitute took damage for Zapdos!
Zapdos's substitute faded!
---
Zapdos: 81%, angry
Gyarados: 100%, grinning evilly
---
Perfect. Zapdos now knows Gyarados can break its Sub, so I'll go to my best Substitute Zapdos response.
---
Dummy007 switched in Ratinaryt (lvl 100 Tyranitar ?).
Ratinaryt's Sand Stream whipped up a sandstorm!
A sandstorm brewed!
Zapdos used Thunderbolt.
A critical hit!
Ratinaryt lost 44% of its health.
The sandstorm rages.
---
Zapdos: 81%
Tyranitar: 62%, mad
---
The crit was pretty nasty, but Tyranitar can still take a hit. I know that Zapdos's last move is Heat Wave, and I'm running a Boah, so I'll Substitute to scout the switch.
---
85 switched in Scizor (lvl 100 Scizor ?).
Ratinaryt used Substitute.
Ratinaryt lost 25% of its health.
Ratinaryt made a substitute!
The sandstorm rages.
---
Scizor: 100%, staring intently
Tyranitar: 53%, Substitute
---
Scizor. The bane of all Tyranitars' existence. While I'm here, I'll Focus Punch to scout its move and put a little damage on it. I have nothing to gain by switching, so here goes!
---
Ratinaryt is tightening its focus!
Scizor used Bullet Punch.
It's super effective!
The substitute took damage for Ratinaryt!
Ratinaryt's substitute faded!

Scizor used Bullet Punch.

Sodarayg lost 13% of its health.
The sandstorm rages.

Gyarados: 87%, paralyzed
Scizor: 56%

Gyarados can still Intimidate, so I guess he's not totally worthless. I anticipate a switch back to Zapdos, so Stone Edge it is!

Zapdos: 81%, smiling devilishly
Gyarados: 87%, paralyzed

...or, at least, it would have been, if it weren't for that meddling paralysis and its dumb dog. I'll Stone Edge again since he'll expect me to go directly to Tyranitar while not passing Go or collecting $200.

Zapdos used Substitute.

A perfect play. It's somewhat strange that the match is still 6-6 at this point, but things are starting to heat up. Gyarados has no further use, so Stone Edge ftw!

Stupid parahax is stupid. Zapdos is now an actual threat behind a Substitute. Tyranitar still walls it all day, so he's my choice.

Dummy007 switched in Ratinaryt (lvl 100 Tyranitar ?).

Zapdos used Thunderbolt.
Ratinaryt lost 21% of its health.

Tyranitar: 45%, Toxic'd
Zapdos: 31%
---
Toxic turns out to be the final move in Zapdos's arsenal. Thankfully its Sub is gone, meaning it's nowhere near as threatening now. I anticipate Roost, but have a momentary lapse in brain function and click 'Ice Beam' anyway. This turns out to be a critical move.
---
Zapdos used Roost.
Zapdos restored 50% of its health.
Ratinaryt used Ice Beam.

...or does it? Zapdos remains in cryogenic stasis while Scizor takes a light hit during the fall of Sand-dam Hussein. You did good, buddy. On the plus side, I can bring in every Scizor's worst nightmare: Rotom-H!

I can no longer Substitute, so I fire off a Charge Beam for some damage. Nothing left on my team will enjoy eating a Fire Blast, but I'm confident that Heatran is Specs'd meaning Jirachi can enter the fray.

85 switched in Infernape (lvl 100 Infernape ?).

Infernape happens to be the one Pokemon Jirachi would never want to tangle with unless he was safely behind a Sub. I go to Gyara expecting a Flare Blitz, but he still takes the Overheat, meaning Infernape is returning home. I go for an EQ here, since it will KO Infernape and Scizor and put a giant dent in Jirachi.

---
85 has left the room.
Dummy007 wins!
---
...he leaves. This turn was set in stone, so it really didn't matter. Time for props and slops!

Props:
-Breloom, for being the MVP and just succeeding in general
-Tyranitar, for freezing Zapdos
-Gyarados, for being useful while paralyzed
-His Zapdos, for annoying the crap out of me
-His Infernape, for almost winning him the match

Slops:
-Hax. Three full paras and a freeze are not good things.
-Azelf, for doing almost nothing.
-Rotom, for not getting to sweep

His Team:

This log was formatted using Warmachine Version 1.0

(Not quite done, will finish tomorrow)

It seemed rather average of a warstory to me, and much too haxy at the beginning. Also, I have no idea why you didn't keep Azelf in first turn. Worst case scenario, you get flinched with Iron Head, it's locked, swap to Gyrados. You get tricked, you still get rocks up, and a Scarf Explosion later. I saw very little reason for you to make the first play the way you did.

Battle was meh, there wasn't any good plays throughout the entirety of the warstory.
Formatting was poor, no pictures made it boring and harder to follow. The colors were... just too gaudy for a warstory.
Comments were inconsistent and you just said what the log said, they had no real meat on them.

And the ending... If a player leaves, it just kind of ruins the big finale. And it was obvious you were going to win, which didn't hold me in.

I'll be kind and give it a 4/10, for your first shot...

/fauxmoderator on

you are actually not supposed to post stories in which one of the two combatants leaves the match

This.

Comments next to the health wore on my patience. Also the bold red + blue was too overpowering.

4/10

Not bad, but it could be better. Here are some suggestions:

-Choose a game that's very close and has very little (game-affecting) hax. Your story had a lot of hax in the beginning and near the end it was obvious that you would win. I'm glad you won the battle, but people want to read a story that's exciting and keeps the audience on their toes until the very end.

-Beef up your commentary. All you really did was state the obvious what-just-happened-and-what-I'm-going-to-do-about-it. We want to get into your brain. Are you analyzing his team? Are you looking into the future? What's your strategy for winning? How did you adapt your strategy when something unexpected happened?

-Pictures are helpful. :)

Good luck with your next story!

Correct me if I am wrong but it seemed to me that your opponent gave away a win here.

I am refering to when he had just switched out Blissey for Scizor and you got a Sub up. If he had U-turned out he would have broken your Sub and he could sac Bissey to the Focus Punch. (which is no loss since Blissey cannot beat either Breloom or Azelf) From there Infernape comes in and you have nothing to take the overheat. Even if you sac Breloom Infernape can then Mach Punch you and Scizor cleans up with Bullet Punch.

Anyway as far as the warstory itself went it was kinda 'meh'. The batle did not grip me and the ending was very drawn out. I would have liked Pictures as well.

Have a Nice Day!

If you catch Blissey with spore, spore again because he will switch out. Instead of you then having a sub and an awake counter you have a sleeping counter and get a sub on the switch out. Otherwise you need to spend that substitute on merely putting your opponent to sleep again.

it was a decent battle but there wasn't really any substance to the comments. try to pick a battle that is a bit more exciting in terms of predictions, and you can also add comments about your long-term plans.

i had to wonder why you didn't kill the heatran when it was at 67% and you had +2 satk... surely you have thunderbolt or hp fighting?

the opponent probably bullet punched because he expected spore (which would have won you the game). unfortunately the other guy kinda did give away the win since infernape's lo overheat ohkos breloom even at -2, and i think infernape was in blaze range which makes it do like 154% minimum...

Sorry about no pictures, but my connnection timed out on me when I was writing my first warstory and I wanted to post this before it timed out. I'll add pictures soon.

And, no, Rotom's moveset is Sub / Charge Beam / Shadow Ball / Will-o-wisp.

EDIT: Also, my reasoning for switching to Gyarados was this: Whenever I leave Azelf in against a Jirachi, he usually gets flinched to death. I then go to Gyarados, who ALSO usually gets flinched to death. I figured I'd go to Gyara for the Intimidate, then try and stall for a DD. This way I could keep my SRer intact either way. Gyara could have hopefully swept, too. If not, I could go to Jirachi, who could take his Rachi's hits all day and CM up.

I think this is an average battle, but I don't like the format and the commentary was quite poor. Pictures are always appreciated, too. Good luck with you next story anyway =)
