Password for Smogon server?

I'm not sure if this is the right section of the forums but I am going to try anyways.

So today I try to get onto the smogon server and then it asks me to enter a password for my current name. I have never registered a password before on the server so I decided to I try my forum password. That doesn't work and this comes up I:
Error while connected to server -- Received error n°1: The remote host closed the connection

Is there a way for me to register a password or a way to get past this asking for a password?

It means someone else has registered a password for whatever name you are using if you didn't.
