Muk-Alola @ Black Sludge
Name: Specially Defensive (Dark)
Ability: Poison Touch
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Poison Jab
- Knock Off
- Drain Punch
- Protect
[SET COMMENTS]
Alolan Muk is an amazing defensive part of Dark teams thanks to its part Poison typing, granting a solid neutrality to the Dark-type's weaknesses, which can provide comfort against Choice Specs threats like Iron Valiant and Flutter Mane. Poison Jab provides solid damage into the multitude of Fairy-types in the tier like Choice Specs Iron Valiant, Primarina, and Hatterene. Poison Jab also pairs nicely with Poison Touch, giving Alolan Muk an incredible chance to inflict poison against common switch-ins like Great Tusk and Rotom-W. Knock Off helps Alolan Muk to make progress against threats like Iron Moth and Kyurem. Drain Punch gives Alolan Muk both a form of recovery and a tool to break down Steel-type threats like Heatran and Hisuian Goodra while also preventing it from being set up on by Chien-Pao and Kingambit. Finally, Protect can allow for Alolan Muk to scout Choice-locked threats like Meowscarada and Latias while getting Black Sludge recovery.
Mandibuzz provides a solid complement to Alolan Muk, being able to come in on the Ground-types that naturally threaten Alolan Muk like Garchomp, Hippowdon, and Swampert thanks to its Flying typing along with using Defog to remove entry hazards so Alolan Muk can get the most out if its Black Sludge recovery. Mandibuzz also takes advantage of setup sweepers like Scizor and Ogerpon-W that can easily set up on Alolan Muk with Foul Play. Sableye also greatly benefits Alolan Muk by being able to handle the powerful physical Fighting-type threats like Great Tusk, Sneasler, and Zamazenta thanks to its Ghost typing and Will-O-Wisp. Both Mandibuzz and Sableye majorly appreciate Alolan Muk's ability to tank Moonblast from the likes of Iron Valiant and Flutter Mane, in addition to its Toxic immunity. Chien-Pao greatly benefits Alolan Muk, being able to outspeed and remove threats like non-Choice Scarf Sneasler, Clodsire, and Landorus with ease while appreciating Alolan Muk's Poison Jab hindering switch-ins with poison and Knock Off removing Heavy-Duty Boots from foes. Kingambit appreciates Alolan Muk's ability to take on Primarina and Choice Specs Iron Valiant, which majorly threaten Kingambit, along with Alolan Muk's ability to threaten poisoning bulky targets like Torkoal, putting them on timers. Alolan Muk complements Ting-Lu's hazard stacking capabilities by being able to remove Heavy-Duty Boots. Both Meowscarada and Greninja assist Alolan Muk by removing Ground-types like Hippowdon, non-Choice Scarf Great Tusk, and Ting-Lu. Meowscarada helps threaten out the several Water-type threats of the tier like Keldeo and Urshifu-R thanks to its powerful Flower Trick, along with catching several problematic Fighting- and Dragon-types like mixed Iron Valiant and Roaring Moon with Play Rough. Greninja's powerful Water-type STAB attacks can wash away problematic Fire-types like Choice Band Hisuian Arcanine and Choice Specs Iron Moth with minimal issues, and it can use Extrasensory to cleanly remove Okidogi and non-Choice Scarf Sneasler. Hydreigon can break past physical walls like Toxapex and Skarmory that are too bulky for Alolan Muk. Alolan Muk appreciates Hydreigon's Levitate making it able to easily come in against threats like Swampert and Hippowdon, while Hydreigon appreciates Alolan Muk ability to deter Fairy-types like Enamorus and Alolan Ninetales.

Rock Slide can be a solid option, removing Volcarona and Frosmoth, which prove problematic for Dark teams, but its shaky accuracy can be a deterrence, along with making it vulnerable to Steel-types like Heatran and Hisuian Goodra.
