There should be a feature on Pokemon showdown where if you put the move set and ability FIRST they should have a recommended item list to choose from that sorts out typically useless items and show items that will benefit the Pokemon with the stats ,move set and ETC ... no just "OU" items

I feel this, I also feel that you could also sort the items based on what they do, ex: HP restoring, Condition Protection, etc. But maybe the best idea is a filter to sort them out like this. Like put the filter button where it is highlighted:
