Aerodactyl is exerting its pressure!
Aerodactyl is exerting its pressure!

Right away, I can tell this isn't going to be easy (but what ladder match is). Stone Edge is too risky, so I go for the safer Aqua Tail.
Great, another Aerodactyl lead v Aerodactyl lead...Rock Slide and hope to go first (my Aerodactyl has max speed)

Aerodactyl used Aqua Tail.
It's super effective!
Aerodactyl lost 80% of its health.

Aerodactyl used Rock Slide.
It's super effective!
Aerodactyl lost 100% of its health.
qbsuperstar03's Aerodactyl fainted.

---
6 - 5 in favor of AJ (AJ's Aero at 20%)

Well, shit. OHKOed by a Rock Slide, but at least I did some damage. Time to bring out my Rock killer.
Aqua Tail? Well, that went better than expected.

qbsuperstar03 switched in Scizor (lvl 100 Scizor ?).

Hmmm. Has to be another Bullet Punch Scizor to ruin my Stealth Rocking day.
I really want to Stealth Rock so that Hippowdon (Slack Off, Roar, Stockpile, Toxic) can be effective. Well, Lucario can arrange that and Aerodactyl can live to fight another day.

aj414 switched in Lucario (lvl 100 Lucario ?).
Scizor used Bullet Punch.
It's not very effective...
Lucario lost 33% of its health.

---
Lucario used Aura Sphere.
Scizor lost 100% of its health.
qbsuperstar03's Scizor fainted.

---
6 - 4 in favor of AJ (Lucario at 67%)

God DAMN it. Down 4-6 and he's got a fairly potent sweeper out already. Having bad memories of being 0-6ed by a Lucario that didn't even need to switch out, I go for my physical wall.
Go Aura Sphere!

qbsuperstar03 switched in Vaporeon (lvl 100 Vaporeon ?).

I am not sure what Vaporeon has got planned for Lucario... I like to run Vaporeon sometimes, and when I do, I hate statuses. Time to get on the other side of that fence.

aj414 switched in Blissey (lvl 100 Blissey ?).
Vaporeon used Surf.
Blissey lost 22% of its health.

---
qbsuperstar03 switched in Gengar (lvl 100 Gengar ?).
Blissey used Toxic.
---

Ah-ha, for once I read him like a book. After seeing that Blissey, I figure his best way to stop Vaporeon's special onslaught is with Toxic, but I cock-block it with Gengar. I could explode, but what after...
Alright. Gengars like Thunderbolt, Energy Ball, Hypnosis, and Shadow Ball right? Hippowdon can handle those and Gengar probably won't Shadow Ball Blissey.

aj414 switched in Hippowdon (lvl 100 Hippowdon ?).

Yippee, Vaporeon vs. a slow Ground-type with low SpD! Time to go for the kill and even things up!
Well, that isn't all that great... My Hippowdon can Slack Off and Stockpile stall-out Vaporeon in a vacuum and without any crits but is he too injured now?
I'll play it safe... Besides, Vaporeon loves Blissey.

A basic summary of my day up to that point. Nothing's working, all my mons dropping like flies or letting the other guy rest up...it's time to pull something unexpected. The exact same thing.
Blissey is doing better now. Time to put a dent in Vaporeon... by throwing the fish around.

qbsuperstar03 switched in Gengar (lvl 100 Gengar ?).

Add Focus Blast to the list of Gengar's moves... Time to sacrifice Aerodactyl for that Stealth Rock. That'll make Gengar think twice about coming to play so often.

Hahaha. Just like that, it's 4-4, but I can't help but think that his Dactyl did its job with its SR. Now comes a grindfest.
I am really glad now that Aero won that opening duel! Now I can send in Hippowdon to really mess him up.

Ouch. Add Explosion to that list of Gengar death up there... I can't believe I didn't see that coming.

2 - 1 in favor of QB (Vaporeon at 63%)

Hell yeah, time to find out what's behind door number 6.
And that was why I have always liked using Vaporeon. Well it's Vaporeon and ? against Infernape. If I had to pick any one of my pokemon to go against two, I would pick Infernape every time. I can't be sure Grass Knot or Stone Edge will kill Vaporeon so I will have to risk dropping my defenses with Close Combat.

aj414 switched in Infernape (lvl 100 Infernape ?).

And just like that, my window of opportunity slams shut. The only thing I've got left is Blissey, and he only needs the move he revealed to win this. I was going to take out the idle chat, but I left this one in.

qbsuperstar03: DAMMIT.

Reading that, I breathed a sigh of relief.

aj414 wins!

Now for the props and slops section:

Props:
-AJ, for being such a good sport about it, knowing enough to keep his Infernape in reserve to fulfill its late cleanup role (commented "vgg" afterwards) and letting me collaborate with him for this. Also, he shares my first two initials. :)
-Gengar, for putting as much of a dent in his team as he did.
-Hippowdon, for taking hits when he needed to for AJ.

Slops:
-Myself, for generally bad play throughout (Stone Edge would have OHKOed his lead Aero but I didn't want to take such a risk that early, not switching in Breloom on Hippowdon, not using Superpower on Blissey because I feared a switch-out, and miscellaneous stupidity)

Formatted with Fingers To The Bone, version 1.0 (Translation: I formatted and added all the tags myself from the raw log, the only bit contributed by AJ being his insights)

You picked the wrong colors.. and the setup of all of it is just killing my eyes.

Can't get into it at all.

Besides the colors not being too great, the commentary was rather repeating what the logs showed us. Also:
Alright. Gengars like Thunderbolt, Energy Ball, Hypnosis, and Shadow Ball right?
Gengars rarely carry hypnosis anymore, energy ball is for people who really really really hate swampert(and even then shadow ball would 2hko most sets)How could you forget focus blast?
All in all, not too great of a warstory, but it wasnt as bad as some others. It was still an interesting battle to read, with some different sets.

Not a good warstory. Why would you want to show this battle? Both players played bad and not a single great prediction. And the colours... 2/10

Use a darker green. Green is a fine color for warstories, but please, don't use that eye-blinding shade.

Now...
Aerodactyl used Aqua Tail.
It's super effective!
Aerodactyl lost 80% of its health.

Why Aqua Tail? Earthquake hits Infernape and Heatran even harder, while your rock attack hits other aerodactyls harder as well.

Alright. Gengars like Thunderbolt, Energy Ball, Hypnosis, and Shadow Ball right? Hippowdon can handle those and Gengar probably won't Shadow Ball Blissey.

No. They like focus blast, explosion, shadow ball, substitute and pain split. But even after saying energy ball, you sent Hippowdon in. I don't really get this play.

For the stockpiling part, I suggest making the text smaller or putting it in a spoiler tag as that's some rather redundant log.

Alright, time for cleric Blissey to fix things... Aromatherapy to the rescue!

aj414 switched in Blissey (lvl 100 Blissey ?).
Breloom used Seed Bomb.
Blissey lost 40% of its health.

Did you KNOW he didn't have focus punch? Blindly switching Blissey into Breloom is a horrible idea, as breloom is one of Blissey's best counters. You could have easily been smashed by focus punch coming in.

There's probably more, but this should do for now. It's not horrible, but it wasn't good. At all.

Please fix the colors, use a darker green and if possible, a darker red too.

locopoke

Banned deucer.
I normally don't comment on warstories but the font made this so incredibly difficult to read that I just had to say something...

I unfortunately have to agree that this was fully unreadable. Use warstorymachine for crying out loud.

Okay, I think you get the horrible color choices point now, but I'm going to add some more things about the formatting:

It was difficult to tell what was commentary and what was the log at first glance. Consider putting the log in different colors. Regular black bold is a popular choice as it stands out from any other text. Consider that and darker colors for commentary. It makes for a much nicer read.

For the battle itself:

It seemed like neither of you knew what you were doing, and your comments really reflected that. This battle was pretty much both of you stumbling around until someone eventually won. It pretty much came down to "who made the stupider play first" rather "who played better."

haunter

Banned deucer.
Not a great battle, poor commentary and that green color is really a punch in the eye. Better luck next time.
