[OVERVIEW]

Despite the high number of other offensive Water-types in the tier, Crawdaunt makes a place for itself by being one of the most threatening wallbreakers in the tier thanks to a combination of good dual STAB types, Adaptability, a high Attack stat, and a good offensive movepool. However, Crawdaunt is very slow and frail, making it susceptible to many of the faster Pokemon in the tier that can revenge kill it with ease and leaving it heavily reliant on its priority move, Aqua Jet, to be able to damage these Pokemon.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Swords Dance boosts Crawdaunt's Attack, making it very deadly against defensively oriented teams. Crabhammer is a very strong STAB attack that also has a high critical hit ratio. Knock Off is a good secondary STAB attack that can also remove the item of the opposing Pokemon. Aqua Jet is weaker than Crabhammer and Knock Off, but its priority makes it the go-to move for doing damage to quicker Pokemon.

Set Details
========

Focus Sash ensures Crawdaunt is unable to be KOed from full HP, allowing it to have a free turn to either get off an attack or use Swords Dance; however, its main purpose is to ensure that Crawdaunt isn't mostly helpless against offensive teams, which tend to not give it any space. Life Orb is also an option due to the boost in power, which allows Crawdaunt to get some crucial KOs, such as against Tangrowth after Stealth Rock and a Swords Dance boost. Lum Berry can also be used should a one-time status immunity be more beneficial than the other options. The given EVs maximize Crawdaunt's wallbreaking potential. A Jolly nature is preferable to give Crawdaunt enough Speed to ensure that most bulky Pokemon, such as Nidoqueen and Suicune, are dissuaded from investing enough Speed EVs to outspeed Crawdaunt. An Adamant nature, on the other hand, allows Crawdaunt to hit benchmarks when attacking, such as an OHKO on Tangrowth when holding Life Orb and after a Swords Dance, as well as against Salamence with Life Orb after Stealth Rock, at the cost of being potentially outsped by many of the aforementioned bulky Pokemon. Adaptability is the ability of choice for boosting the power of Crawdaunt's STAB attacks.

Usage Tips
========

Predict a lot; strong wallbreakers like Crawdaunt that don't have much bulk or Speed don't get many opportunities to wallbreak in a match so make the most of the few turns it is given. In most matches, it's often better to just attack with Crawdaunt instead of setting up, as Swords Dance only benefits Crawdaunt against more defensively inclined teams that use sturdy walls that rely on being able to outlast Crawdaunt to get past it. Be sure to pivot Crawdaunt in on weak attacks or via U-turn and Volt Switch whenever it can get a good matchup. Most importantly, be sure to use Crawdaunt's ability to effectively wallbreak as much as possible during the early game so its teammates are able to clean later on.

Team Options
========

Sweepers and cleaners, such as Nasty Plot Lucario and Mega Sharpedo, make for excellent Crawdaunt partners, as they benefit from Crawdaunt's ability to wallbreak effectively. Other wallbreakers, such as Choice Band Darmanitan, Choice Specs Shaymin and Life Orb Hydreigon, also make for nice Crawdaunt teammates, as they can form good wallbreaking cores with Crawdaunt to break through most teams. Shaymin gets a special mention for having access to Healing Wish, which not only heals Crawdaunt to full HP but also removes any status conditions Crawdaunt may have at the time. Pokemon that have access to speed control moves, such as Tailwind Whimsicott and Sticky Web Galvantula, also make for good teammates, as they can make Crawdaunt faster than its foe and give it more opportunities to wallbreak. Memento users, such as Chandelure and Gardevoir, make for good Crawdaunt teammates, as they can use Memento to give Crawdaunt a free turn to set up a Swords Dance, while Crawdaunt usually breaks down their defensive answers. Entry hazard setters, such as Azelf and Aerodacyl, make for good Crawdaunt partners as well, as Crawdaunt can get some crucial KOs with entry hazard damage, such as OHKOs on Zapdos and Suicune after a Swords Dance. Similarly, entry hazard removers and suicide leads, such as Forretress and Aerodactyl, respectively, are also good Focus Sash Crawdaunt teammates, as they can respectively remove and prevent entry hazards, allowing Crawdaunt to retain its Focus Sash for as long as possible. Lastly, Crawdaunt appreciates having momentum support from VoltTurn users, such as Rotom-C and Infernape, making them good teammates for it.

Moves
========

Knock Off is a very strong STAB attack that removes the held item of the opposing Pokemon. Crabhammer is a very solid STAB attack that has a high `00 Base Power. Aqua Jet gives Crawdaunt a form of priority to ensure that it is able to hit quicker Pokemon. Aerial Ace allows Crawdaunt to hit Chesnaught, which walls it otherwise, for super effective damage. Alternatively, Crunch allows Crawdaunt to do more damage with its Dark-type STAB move than it would with Knock Off to itemless Pokemon and Mega Evolutions. Switcheroo allows Crawdaunt to cripple most of its switch-ins, making it a decent option should Aerial Ace and Crunch not seem too useful.

Set Details
========

Choice Band boosts Crawdaunt's Attack, making it a very powerful wallbreaker at the cost of locking it into a move. Adaptability changes Crawdaunt's STAB bonus from 1.5x to 2x, making its STAB attacks a lot stronger. Maximum Attack and Speed EVs are used to augment Crawdaunt's wallbreaking potential, and a Jolly nature is used to ensure Crawdaunt is able to outspeed bulky Pokemon that attempt to Speed creep it, whereas an Adamant nature can be used to ensure Crawdaunt hits as hard as possible.

Usage Tips
========

Prediction is important for Crawdaunt, as it can easily give your opponent free turns depending on the move it locks itself into; however, most Pokemon take a lot of damage from Knock Off and Crabhammer, so don't be afraid to just use either whenever you can. Crawdaunt should only be coming in on weak attacks or from pivoting into something it has a good matchup against. Crawdaunt should be making use of its wallbreaking prowess during the early game as much as possible so its teammates can have an easier time later on. Use Crawdaunt's revenge killing potential with Aqua Jet as a tool against offense, as it generally doesn't get any other opportunity to be useful in those matchups.

Team Options
========

Sweepers and cleaners, such as Dragon Dance Gyarados and Mega Sharpedo, make for good Crawdaunt partners, as they capitalize on Crawdaunt's ability to effectively break down opposing teams. Other wallbreakers, such as Choice Band Entei and Choice Specs Kyurem, also make for good partners, as they form wallbreaking cores with Crawdaunt that can effectively break most defensively oriented teams. Entry hazard setters, such as Forretress and Nidoqueen, are good Crawdaunt partners due to their ability to wear down the opposing team via entry hazards, making Crawdaunt's switch-ins even more limited. Users of speed control moves, such as Sticky Web Shuckle and Tailwind Suicune, make for good Crawdaunt partners, as they can allow Crawdaunt to outspeed Pokemon it normally wouldn't be able to. Crawdaunt is also highly appreciative of momentum support from Volt Switch and U-turn users, such as Heliolisk and Hydreigon.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

A fourth attack over Swords Dance on the Swords Dance set can be run to lure in and KO specific checks and counters. For instance, Ice Beam allows Crawdaunt to 2HKO common switch-ins in Chesnaught, Tangrowth, Whimsicott, and Hydreigon. Sludge Wave is another option that provides similar coverage to Ice Beam but trades being unable to 2HKO Hydreigon for being able to OHKO Whimsicott. Superpower, on the other hand, doesn't provide as much overall coverage but allows Crawdaunt to OHKO Hydreigon. Dragon Dance, while being a decent option on sets that use Focus Sash, is usually inferior to other options, such as Swords Dance and a fourth attack, due to Crawdaunt's low base Speed that renders it unable to outspeed base 108 Speed Pokemon and anything quicker even after a boost. It does allow Crawdaunt to beat some of its checks, though, which is mostly limited to a few faster Water-resistant Pokemon, including Mega Blastoise.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Faster Pokemon that Resist Water**: Pokemon that have higher Speed than Crawdaunt and also resist Water-type attacks, such as Hydreigon and Whimsicott, can easily revenge kill Crawdaunt, as Crawdaunt's only way of damaging them before they OHKO it is Aqua Jet. Heliolisk and Toxicroak get a special mentions for having higher Speed, super effective STAB attacks against Crawdaunt, and an immunity to Water, courtesy of Dry Skin.

**Quicker Physically Bulky Pokemon**: Pokemon that have decent physical bulk and outspeed Crawdaunt, such as Cobalion and Zapdos, can easily revenge kill it, as they can survive an Aqua Jet and OHKO Crawdaunt in return.

**Physically Defensive Walls**: Physically defensive walls can deal with Crawdaunt well, with the best checks depending on its set. For instance, Swords Dance variants are easily dealt with by Chesnaught and Tangrowth, whereas variants using four attacking moves are more easily dealt with by the likes of Alomomola.

Three sets to start methinks:

SD LO
Choice Band
DD LO/Splash Plate

Focus Sash in OO
Ice Beam/Sludge Wave/Aerial Ace in OO
LO 4 attacks in OO

What do the rest of the QCers think?

The first two are really the only ones worth mentioning imo, DD isn't good enough to have its own set. The first set can have LO / Focus Sash as the item. I think Ice Beam is good enough to get a mention with LO on the first set too (not slashed).

Super sorry this hasn't gotten any progress, new school year put way more shitload on me than I expected it to but that's not really a valid excuse so I apologize. Nevertheless though I planned on making this two sets; SD and CB with stuff like DD and 4 Atks being in OO, although that's interchangeable based on what the other QC want, will update this today should everything go well.

it's already been mentioned above by dod, the most relevant sets are definitely SD and CB and then there's kind of a gap between that and all of crab's other options (DD is mediocre, let's not discuss that one please), although I'll still say 4 attacks without a boosting move has a respectable niche and could possibly receive a set (and if it doesn't, it should still be mentioned heavily under OO due to its ability to lure typical answers like Chesnaught and Whimsicott, allowing partners like Gyarados to kill everything else)

w/ that said, Jolly is the preferred nature on SD crab IMO (at least that's what my experience w/ it leads me to think) and the item slashes should be LO followed by Focus Sash with Lum Berry receiving an honorable mention in set details. CB looks ok though, but I admit I haven't used it much

Yup, agree with all of that especially that Jolly is the primary slash for SD - without it Suicune and Cress can outspeed you easily. For CB, Switcheroo isn't necessary since you'd rather just demolish things with your STABs plus it discourages you from using Knock Off. Crunch should be the second slash though, letting you 2HKO Suicune and Tangrowth after you've knocked their items off.

I recognize that this is a WIP, but given Crawdaunt's lack of bulk and speed, it is going to want teammates that can assist it in setting up a Swords Dance (I am referring to the first set here). Whimsicott, Chandelure, and Gardevoir are all in UU, capable of learning Memento, and pair reasonably well with Crawdaunt, especially the former two. All three of these mons are capable of putting pressure on Chesnaught as well, while Crawdaunt can break their usual defensive checks in return.

EDIT: Also mention hazard setters specifically because

+2 252 Atk Life Orb Adaptability Crawdaunt Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Suicune: 341-403 (84.4 - 99.7%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
+2 252 Atk Life Orb Adaptability Crawdaunt Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Tangrowth: 322-380 (79.9 - 94.2%) -- 43.8% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
+2 252 Atk Life Orb Adaptability Crawdaunt Aqua Jet vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Zapdos: 247-291 (76.9 - 90.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock

I think you put 4 EVs on SpA instead of SpD by mistake on the Choice Band set.

Crawdaunt gets Superpower also. Doesn't it hit anything relevant besides Hydreigon?

Most likely mentioning Superpower w/ stuff like Ice Beam / Sludge Wave for the fourth move stuff since it's best use is just OHKOing Hydrei / Mega Sharpedo upon switch-in and that's about it unless there's other stuff I'm unaware of since the ranges on Lax and P2 are more or less covered by STAB anyways and it doesn't OHKO Blissey. Btw yeah thanks for pointing out the EV thing lol.

Edit: Also, finally QC ready.

Looks really good right now. Aerial Ace also targets Toxicroak for CB.

in OO, go into more detail for both bullet points. Ice beam hits Chesnaught, Tangrowth, Whimsicott, and Hydreigon for 2HKOs and Salamence for an OHKO, etc. and Dragom Dance, while a decent option on sash sets, still fails to outspeed Cobalion and anything faster after a boost, although it's good for beating some other checks (sole faster water resists)

Whimsicott and Mega Blastoise should definitely be mentioned somewhere in checks and counters, and it should be said that Alomomola can wall 4 attack variants.

I know this is very overdone, but momentum support should go in Team Options too - if there's one Pokemon that loves Uturn support the most, it's crawdaunt.

I believe I did all of this, with maybe the exception of specifically mentioning Toise / Whims since they pretty much fall under category two anyhow and don't add much else to the table that hasn't been noted in the generalized statement of said category in C&C.

this one is gonna be a little less elaborate than my typical qc checks, but i'm blaming that on you for writing a good skeleton n_n

overview is fine

SD Crawdaunt:

"Swords Dance boosts Crawdaunt's Attack, making it very deadly against defensively orientated teams."
"Aqua Jet is a weak STAB attack that has +1 priority, making it the go-to move for doing damage to quicker Pokemon."

Mention that SD + Aqua Jet (or just the latter under some circumstances) allows Crawdaunt to pick weakened offense teams

"A Focus Sash ensures Crawdaunt is unable to be KOed from full HP, allowing it to have a free turn to either get off an attack or use Swords Dance."

Mention that Sash's main goal is to ensure Crawdaunt isn't completely helpless against offense

"Sweepers and cleaners, such as Swords Dance Lucario and Speed Boost Yanmega, respectively, make for excellent Crawdaunt partners, as they benefit from Crawdaunt's ability to wallbreak effectively."

Use different examples IMO. Crawdaunt doesn't really lure stuff that stops Lucario / Yanmega that well. How about Water-type cleaners such as Gyarados, Feraligatr and Megapert?

CB Crawdaunt:

Give Switcheroo a mention in CB's moves or OO (but not a slash)

Give Jolly Nature the first slash on that set too (you don't want to nuke a Cune just to have it PP stall you afterwards for example

Usage tips: use Crawdaunt's strong priority as a revenge killing tool against offense (because you won't get any opportunity to punch holes against those teams)

OO and C&C look nice too

2/3 once you implement these changes

OK should have done most of this except only slightly changed the examples for the team options in the first set since Crawdaunt may not lure as much for those Pokemon listed, it does use common switch-ins for Lucario as good opportunities to break / in Sharpedo's case it lures. However if you feel like it's important that Lucario shouldn't be mentioned then be sure to say so and I'll change it.

  • Add a mention of Toxicroak to C&C since it resists both STABs and KO back easily.
  • For the Sash set mention Defoggers and spinners in Team Options, and suicide leads that can prevent opponent from setting up hazards early game while setting up their own like Azelf and Aerodactyl.
  • I don't think predicting is as crucial for the CB set as you've stated in Usage Tips since Knock Off is a very spammable move. Maybe for the SD set it is more vital but for CB even resists like Whimsi and Croak are taking upwards of 60%. So it's fine to mention prediction as being important but maybe cut it down a bit? I'd also emphasise on getting Crawdaunt in safely via slow VoltTurn users and taking advantage of its resistances / immunities to come in on weak attacks. And definitely state that both sets should be ideally used aggressively early game to blow massive holes in the opposing team to allow its teammates to take advantage.
Everything else looks good so 3/3 once all this is done :)

Knock Off is a very strong STAB attack that removes the held item of the opposing Pokemon but drops in power against Pokemon that don't have an item, have the ability Sticky Hold, or are holding a Mega Stone. (kind of extraneous, it's just dex info, MAYBE you can mention the MEvos, but the power loss is mentioned with Crunch as is so ehh) Crabhammer is a very solid STAB attack that has a high base power of 100. Aqua Jet gives Crawdaunt a form of priority to ensure it is able to hit quicker Pokemon. Aerial Ace allows Crawdaunt to hit Chesnaught for super effective damage, which walls Crawdaunt it otherwise. (only use "respectively" if it's really necessary that you make the distinction explicit or if it prevents confusion--I mean, even without "respectively", no one's gonna think Hydreigon is a Volt Switch user)

A fourth attack over Swords Dance on the Swords Dance set can be run to lure specific Crawdaunt checks / counters. For instance, Ice Beam allows Crawdaunt to 2HKO common Crawdaunt switch-ins in Chesnaught, Tangrowth, Whimsicott and Hydreigon. Dragon Dance, while being a decent option on sets that use a Focus Sash, is usually inferior to other options, such as Swords Dance and a fourth attack, due to Crawdaunt's low base Speed which that renders it unable to outspeed base 108s and anything quicker even after a boost. It does allow Crawdaunt to beat some of its checks though, which is mostly limited to a few faster Water-resists Water-resistant Pokemon, including Mega Blastoise.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Faster Pokemon that Resist Water-resists**: Pokemon that have a higher Speed than Crawdaunt that and also resist Water-type attacks, such as Hydreigon and Whimsicott, can easily revenge kill Crawdaunt, as Crawdaunt's only way of damaging them before they OHKO it is Aqua Jet. Heliolisk and Toxicroak get a special mentions for being faster having a higher Speed, having super effective STAB attacks against Crawdaunt, as well as having Dry Skin which gives them and a Water immunity (RH) courtesy of Dry Skin.

**Quicker Physically Bulky Pokemon**: Pokemon that have decent physical bulk and outspeed Crawdaunt, such as Cobalion and Zapdos, can easily revenge kill Crawdaunt it, as they can survive an Aqua Jet and OHKO Crawdaunt in return.

**Physically Defensive Walls**: Physically defensive walls can deal with Crawdaunt well depending on its set. For instance, Swords Dance variants are easily dealt with by Chesnaught and Tangrowth, whereas variants using 4 four attacking moves are easily dealt with by the likes of Alomomola.

[OVERVIEW]

Despite the high number of other offensive Water-types in the tier, Crawdaunt makes a place for itself by being one of the most threatening wallbreakers in the tier due thanks to a combination of good dual STAB types, Adaptability, a high Attack stat, as well as and a good offensive movepool. (remove line breaks) However, Crawdaunt is not without its flaws, however, as it is very slow and frail, making it susceptible to many of the faster Pokemon in the tier that can revenge kill it with ease and leaving it heavily reliant on its priority move, Aqua Jet, to be able to damage these Pokemon.

Moves
========

Set Details

A Focus Sash ensures Crawdaunt is unable to be KOed from full HP, allowing it to have a free turn to either get off an attack or use Swords Dance; however, its main purpose is to ensure that Crawdaunt isn't mostly helpless against offensive teams, (comma) which that tend to not give it any space. A Life Orb is also an option due to the boost in power, which allows Crawdaunt to get some crucial KOs, such as against Tangrowth after Stealth Rock and a Swords Dance boost. A Lum Berry can also be used should a one-time status immunity be more beneficial than the other options. The given EVs maximize Crawdaunt's wallbreaking potential. A Jolly nature is preferable for having to give Crawdaunt enough Speed to ensure that most bulky Pokemon, such as Nidoqueen and Suicune, are dissuaded from investing enough Speed EVs to outspeed Crawdaunt. An Adamant nature, on the other hand, allows Crawdaunt to hit benchmarks when attacking, such as an OHKO on Tangrowth when holding a Life Orb and after a Swords Dance, as well as against Salamence with a Life Orb after Stealth Rock, at the cost of being potentially outsped by many of the aforementioned bulky Pokemon. Adaptability is the ability of choice for boosting the power of Crawdaunt's STAB attacks.

Usage Tips
========

Predict a lot; strong wallbreakers like Crawdaunt that don't have much bulk or Speed don't get many opportunities to wallbreak in a match, (comma) so make the most of the few turns it is given. In most matches, it's often better to just attack with Crawdaunt instead of setting up, as Swords Dance only benefits Crawdaunt against more defensively inclined teams Pokemon that use sturdy walls that (for repetition) rely on being able to outlast Crawdaunt to get past it. Be sure to pivot Crawdaunt in on weak attacks or via U-turn and or Volt Switch whenever it can get a good matchup. Most importantly, be sure to use Crawdaunt's ability to effectively wallbreak as much as possible during the early-game so that its teammates are able to clean later on.

Team Options
========

(you repeat the "make for good Crawdaunt teammates/partners" format a lot here, so consider rephrasing some of them)

Sweepers and cleaners, such as Nasty Plot Lucario and Mega Sharpedo, make for excellent Crawdaunt partners, as they benefit from Crawdaunt's ability to wallbreak effectively. Other wallbreakers, such as Choice Band Darmanitan and Life Orb Hydreigon, also make for good nice (for repetition of "good") Crawdaunt teammates, as they can form good wallbreaking cores with Crawdaunt to break through most teams. Shaymin (a wallbreaker?) gets a special mention for having access to Healing Wish, which not only heals Crawdaunt to full HP but also removes any status conditions Crawdaunt may have at the time. Entry hazard setters, such as Azelf and Aerodacyl, make for good Crawdaunt partners as well, as Crawdaunt can get some crucial KOs with entry hazard damage, such as an OHKOs on Zapdos and Suicune after a Swords Dance. Similarly, entry hazard removers and suicide leads, such as Forretress and Aerodactyl, respectively, also make for good Focus Sash Crawdaunt teammates, as they can respectively remove and prevent entry hazards, allowing Crawdaunt to retain its Focus Sash for as long as possible. Lastly, Crawdaunt appreciates having momentum support from VoltTurn users, such as Rotom-C and Infernape, making them good teammates for it.

Knock Off is a very strong STAB attack that removes the held item of the opposing Pokemon. Crabhammer is a very solid STAB attack that has a high 100 Base Power of 100. Aqua Jet gives Crawdaunt a form of priority to ensure that it is able to hit quicker Pokemon. Aerial Ace allows Crawdaunt to hit Chesnaught, which walls it otherwise, for super effective damage, which walls it otherwise. Alternatively, Crunch allows Crawdaunt to do more damage with its Dark-type STAB move than it would with Knock Off to itemless Pokemon and Mega Evolutions. Pokemon. Switcheroo allows Crawdaunt to cripple most of its switch-ins, making it a decent option should Aerial Ace and Crunch not seem too useful.

Set Details
========

A Choice Band boosts Crawdaunt's Attack, making it a very powerful wallbreaker at the cost of locking it into a move. Adaptability changes Crawdaunt's STAB bonus from 1.5x to 2x, making its STAB attacks a lot stronger. Maximum Attack and Speed EVs are used to augment Crawdaunt's wallbreaking potential, and a Jolly nature is used to ensure Crawdaunt is able to outspeed bulky Pokemon that attempt to Speed creep it, (comma) whereas an Adamant nature can be used to ensure Crawdaunt hits as hard as possible.

Usage Tips
========

Prediction is important for Crawdaunt, as it can easily give your opponent free turns depending on the move it locks itself into; however, most Pokemon take a lot of damage from Knock Off and Crabhammer, so don't be afraid to just use either whenever you can. Crawdaunt should only be coming in on weak attacks or off the back of good from (I don't understand the original phrasing here, is this what you mean?) pivoting into something it has a good matchup against.

Sweepers and cleaners, such as Dragon Dance Gyarados and Mega Sharpedo, make for good Crawdaunt partners, as they capitalize on Crawdaunt's ability to effectively break down opposing teams. Other wallbreakers, such as Choice Band Entei and Choice Specs Kyurem, also make for good Crawdaunt partners, as they form wallbreaking cores with Crawdaunt that can effectively break most defensively oriented teams. Entry hazard setters, such as Forretress and Nidoqueen, are good Crawdaunt partners due to their ability to wear down the opposing team via entry hazards, making Crawdaunt's switch-ins even more limited. Pokemon that Users of speed control moves, such as Sticky Web Shuckle and Tailwind Suicune, make for good Crawdaunt partners, as they can make allow Crawdaunt to outspeed Pokemon it normally wouldn't be able to. After honestly slacking off for a good two weeks or something I finally decided to get this done, although if there are any mistakes when implementing the final check please notify me. Otherwise, this is good to go.
