[OVERVIEW]
Thanks to its good bulk and high power, Eelektross can become a solid pivot with Assault Vest. In particular, it makes for a very strong check to Ludicolo, Archeops, and Hidden Power variants of Lilligant. Eelektross's Levitate ability also essentially leaves it with no weaknesses outside of Mold Breaker Earthquake and lets it check, if not outright counter Ground-types such as Golurk and Palossand. A fantastic movepool including Giga Drain and Flamethrower gives Eelektross reliable options against Regirock and Ferroseed, and it possesses utility options like Knock Off to support the team. Finally, a strong and slow STAB Volt Switch helps Eelektross be a great pivot. However, Eelektross is worn down far quicker than you think due to a lack of reliable recovery and vulnerability to Toxic. Also, it faces competition as an Electric-type pivot with Lanturn, which has Scald, access to moves like Heal Bell, a resistance to Fire-type attacks, and an immunity to Electric-type moves, though Lanturn lacks an immunity to Spikes and Toxic Spikes and can't hit both Gastrodon and Ferroseed with the same set, which are points in Eelektross's favor.

Moves
========
A STAB Volt Switch from Eelektross is strong and allows it to pivot with ease, and Eelektross's rather low Speed helps matters. Volt Switch is good particularly when the opponent sends in something that can check Eelektross like Assault Vest Hitmonchan. Giga Drain allows Eelektross to hit Pokemon such as Palossand, Lanturn, and Regirock for super effective damage while recovering HP. Flamethrower hits Steel-types and Grass-types such as Mawile and Torterra, which don't take much from the rest of Eelektross's moveset. The last move depends on preference. Knock Off is a utility option useful against Eviolite users such as Type: Null, Clefairy, and Gurdurr as well as opposing Assault Vest users like Magmortar, while Thunderbolt is a very strong STAB move that is useful for when Eelektross doesn't want to switch out and can pick up 2HKOs on Pokemon such as Skuntank that Eelektross's other moves cannot.
Set Details
========
Levitate is Eelektross's only ability, but it's still a very good one, allowing it to switch in on Ground-type attacks. Assault Vest gives Eelektross a decent amount of special bulk. 252 HP EVs complement this. Maximum Special Attack investment allows Eelektross to not be too passive and hit as hard as possible, and a Modest nature increases Eelektross's power on top of this.
Usage Tips
========
Eelektross can beat a lot of common leads, such as Mesprit and Qwilfish. Use Volt Switch when the current matchup isn't much in your favor or if the opponent is about to send in a check such as Alolan Exeggutor. Use Giga Drain when you predict an Electric-immune Pokemon like Lanturn or Gastrodon to switch in. Knock Off is often useful, as the removal of items is very annoying for the opposing team, particularly against bulky Pokemon such as those with Eviolite and Assault Vest like Type: Null and Magmortar. However, it is best not to let Eelektross get hit by a Knock Off from an opposing Pokemon, as without Assault Vest it is much less bulky. It's best not to get too reckless with keeping Eelektross in. Keeping it at a high HP is essential to check multiple Pokemon consistently throughout the course of the match, such as against a team with both Lilligant and Archeops.
Team Options
========
Eelektross's coverage options can force a lot of switches. Thus, Toxic Spikes and Spikes setters such as Weezing and Qwilfish as well as Stealth Rock setters such as Mesprit and Regirock can be used to take advantage of this. Wallbreakers that have trouble coming in safely such as Archeops, Zangoose, and Drampa really like Eelektross's slow Volt Switch. A U-turn user can be quite a good addition, as they tend to pair well with Eelektross's Volt Switch, creating a VoltTurn core and helping to pressure the opposing team. Examples of these include Primeape and Oricorio-G. Wish users such as Audino are suitable options on more defensive builds to help Eelektross's vulnerability to being worn down. Audino also has access to Heal Bell, negating Eelektross's vulnerability to Toxic. Healing Wish users such as Mesprit and Z-Parting Shot users such as Alolan Persian can also work in this regard on more offensive builds. A physically defensive Pokemon such as Weezing or Sableye complements Eelektross's ability to be a special wall. Finally, Dragon-type checks such as Clefairy, Silvally-Fairy, and Soundproof Mr. Mime can help Eelektross against troublesome matchups to it such as against Drampa and Alolan Exeggutor.
[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
Thanks to its expansive movepool and decent offensive stats, Eelektross has a lot of tools up its sleeve. Choice Specs is a neat option to make use of Eelektross's good movepool and slow Volt Switch. It lacks access to Trick or other moves, however, so it's generally passed aside in favor of Rotom-F, which also has Levitate and Ice STAB to hit Dragon-type Pokemon, or Manectric, which is much faster and also has Fire-type coverage. Acid Spray can be used over Knock Off on the Assault Vest set to help wear down certain special walls such as Audino and Clefairy. Hidden Power Ice can be used in the last slot to hit Dragon-types like Alolan Exeggutor. Eelektross's higher Attack as well as options like Knock Off, U-turn, and Drain Punch could make a physically offensive Assault Vest set viable. On such sets, Thunder Punch is preferred as the STAB move over Wild Charge to prevent Eelektross from getting worn down as fast. Superpower can be used in the fourth slot with a Quiet nature to hit Drampa, Audino, and specially defensive Miltank, which generally wall Eelektross, but the Defense drop can be troublesome for Eelektross, so it's mainly used to KO common Pokemon that Eelektross lures in. Dragon Tail is another utility option that allows Eelektross to phaze, and it can be used against setup sweepers such as Type: Null. Physically offensive Eelektross can also run Coil combined with a Fightinium Z and Superpower or Drain Punch to surprise and break through its specially defensive checks, but it isn't fast enough for a sweeper and gets worn down too quickly, even if running Drain Punch. Finally, a RestTalk set with Leftovers slightly patches up Eelektross's vulnerability to status and gives it recovery, albeit an unreliable method. In general, Leftovers can be run over Assault Vest if you feel that the slight recovery is more appreciated than the additional special bulk.
Checks and Counters
===================
**Strong Physical Attackers**: Due to Eelektross being worn down quite quickly, Pokemon such as Pinsir and Zangoose can easily KO it. Pinsir in particular also carries Mold Breaker, making it able to hit and KO Eelektross with Earthquake after chip damage, but it has to watch out for Flamethrower, which has a huge chance of OHKOing it back.
**Status**: Eelektross's lack of reliable recovery or a way to heal status make it vulnerable to moves like Scald, Will-O-Wisp, and especially Toxic.
**Dragon-types**: The likes of Drampa, Alolan Exeggutor, and Turtonator can easily switch in to a specially based Eelektross set due to their resistances to Eelektross's moveset.
**Specially Defensive Pokemon**: If Eelektross is not running Knock Off, the likes of Clefairy, Audino, Miltank, Assault Vest Hitmonchan, and Type: Null can wall it. Even with Knock Off, though, they are still very reliable switch-ins and can either wear it down, set up on it, or KO it outright. Eelektross can easily Volt Switch out of a lot of these, however. Camerupt is a niche option that is immune to Volt Switch, can tank a Giga Drain or Flamethrower, and can hit back with Lava Plume or wear Eelektross down with Toxic.
