As the dlc's powercreep was scary, I decided to dedicate some time to UU, a new metagame for me. And as possible changes to the tier due to January Usage may come, I decided to share the team.
I decided to test how defensive it is possible to go, so I opted for a double Regenenator + HDB with a double Pressure setup.
Alomomola @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Regenerator
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Wish
- Protect
- Flip Turn
- Scald
is the initial defensive answer to Latios, pivoting with Flip Turn and Wish support. Always protect against a possible Trick. Tera Fairy has been almost useless, Tera Ground is a considerable substitute as the team has no immunity to Electric.
Amoonguss @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Regenerator
Tera Type: Fire
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Toxic
- Giga Drain
- Clear Smog
- Foul Play
was severely punished with the loss of Spore, I have been using Toxic, but Stun Spore is very valid, as the metagame seems to have responded quickly to Toxic as a Spore replacement. Defensive physical for Ogerpon and Lokix.
Suicune @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
Tera Type: Dark
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Scald
- Protect
- Substitute
is the first wincon, max speed and 404 HP. Its shine is in Tera Dark, giving it immunity to Psychock, Psychic Noise and Stored Power, in addition to Prankster.
Deoxys-Defense @ Covert Cloak
Ability: Pressure
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
- Cosmic Power
- Stored Power
- Poison Jab
- Recover
is underrated, it's my answer to Zapdos and secondary answer to Latios. Covert Cloak is so, so good. Makes Garganacl a setup folder, prevents Discharge paralysis, Scald burn and other things. Poison Jab is there to fish some Poison against Dark-types and Tera Steel maintains resistance to other Stored Power and gives immunity to Poisoned. Tera Fairy is optional against Dragon Tail Garchomp.
Crocalor @ Eviolite
Ability: Unaware
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Will-O-Wisp
- Roar
- Flamethrower
- Slack Off
This baby alligator is insane. I even laughed at Manaphy and together with Clear Smog Amoonguss is another anti-setup. Tera water gives neutral matchup for many things allowing Will-O-Wisp.
Forretress @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Stealth Rock
- Rapid Spin
- Volt Switch
- Gyro Ball
For lack of anything better... . Honestly, there are few options that fulfilled everything I needed in the last slot, such as hazard control and a Steel-type. Always try to keep him healthy with Wish support, as Garchomp is a pain. Rapid Spin + Gyro Ball seems silly, but it's necessary. Volt Switch helps position Suicune or Deoxys-D.
Weaknesses:
Offensive forces the use of Terastal on Crocalor, Tera-fire variants forces Roar and makes WoW unusable.
When you see Trick, play Forretress and leave him with your Leftovers, this prevents him from taking Suicune's Leftovers. CM variants are rare but scary.
Taunt is basically an automatic defeat.
Preserve Forretress well, and burn Tera on Crocalor.
Uncommon, but Crocalor is the best thing to do.
SpA BE are scary, go Crocalor and Roar.
wtf this thing is doing here?
