General Description:
Best Scarfer of BW Ubers is still around and doing his thing. Defoging hazards away bothers him, though. Overall not much has changed beyond a near useless boost to Technoblast making Douse Drive a semi-viable gimmick.

Techno Blast isn't that great since it's not STAB and takes the item slot, not worth it imo.

tl;dr: meh.

scarf hp rock master race. But on a more serious topic physical scarf will probably be the best set, as it allows it to beat more mons running AV than special, and that u-turn needs to hit harder then ever without hazards around to help.

Hopefully they buff Technoblast. Not that I like genesect or anything, since I am currently playing pokebank OU and I can't stand seeing him anymore, being on most every team, but technoblast should be better than flamethrower/ext, especially with an item investment.

They already have. It's 120 power. It still doesn't change anything other than, like the OP said, making Douse Drive a semi-viable gimmick.

With the buff of Techno Blast, Genesect has a 100% accurate and slightly stronger Hydro Pump, Thunder, Fire Blast, and Blizzard. Another blessing is that Genesect's form changes are very subtle, something most players facing Genesect may overlook completely (A small section of his cannon changes color to the drives).

Rain support/Weather Killer
Genesect @ Douse Drive/Chill Drive
4HP/252 Sp.A /252 Spe
Thunder
Techno Blast
Flamethrower
U-Turn

A Nice example of what the new Techno Blast can do. With Rain up and running, Genesect can begin spamming Thunder like it's no tomorrow. U-turn is the same old same old, hit a Darkrai or another threat and get out fast to let Kyogre set up. Techno Blast now depends on your tastes; You can now have either a Douse Drive for a Rain boosted Hydro Pump to surprise Sand teams and the occasional Groudon, or if you want to eliminate Groudon and other Dragons quickly, use a Chill Drive for a quick Blizzard boosted via Download. Flamethrower is to shoo away any Steel Types away that Aren't Heatran, as well as giving Hail something to think about.

And while this was kept in mind for mainly rain teams, it is far to easily adaptable for other purposes without getting your EVs in a knot. With these new toys, this Genecidal insect will be all over the Uber tier within a few weeks.

A few problems here.

Genesect has good speed, decent offensive stats (very good offensive stats when you get the right Download boost) and awful bulk by Ubers standards. However, a Drive is an awful item. It does give it one powerful move, but does absolutely nothing else for it. A Chill Drive Techno Blast is barely better than an Expert Belt Ice Beam when super effective, while an Expert Belt would boost its other moves. A Life Orb Ice Beam would essentially be just as powerful, and substantially boost all its other moves too (although it gets recoil). Also, with the poor bulk that Genesect has and the loss of 2 resistances (in exchange for one that is rarely seen with the exception of 2 Pokemon) it will usually fall the moment it is outsped, so it will really miss its Choice Scarf against a significant proportion of the metagame (you pointed out Darkrai, which Genesect can no longer switch into and is also outsped by if it holds a Drive). The typing that is cool defensively (which is not that great when coupled with awful defensive stats) is also awful offensively; Steel and Bug are not great STABs, and it gets absolutely no moves with a Base Power above 80 in either (meaning that something like Thunder and Techno Blast will be effectively as powerful if both are unresisted).

Genesect has barely been used this generation, and the Drives or Techno Blast will not change this. Its bulk is too poor, its typing is somewhat awkward and its offenses are underwhelming unless it gets the right Download boost, especially when it carries no power boosting item.

Genesect has received a large amount of nerfs this Gen. Ho-oh is arguably the biggest threat in the Metagame and apart from relatively gimmicky moves like Thunder and HP Rock, it can't do crap to it, while Ho-oh can easily finish Genesect off with a STAB Sacred Fire. The Steel nerf means that it can't switch into the match as much as it could last gen, which is especially notable against threats such as Mega Gengar, Yvetial, and Darkrai. It's Choice Scarf set can't check Speed boosting threats, such as Mega Blaziken and Geomancy Xerneas and is setup bait for threats such as Mega Gengar and Substitute Ho-Oh if locked into the wrong move. Mega Scizor also gives Genesect a large amount of competition this gen thanks to its larger amount of Utility with support moves in Defog and Roost, better overall bulk and Attack, and better priority move in Bullet Punch.

Despite these nerfs, I still believe Genesect will be very viable this gen. Its Choice scarf set still makes a decent check to Mewtwo-N and-Y, Darkrai, and weakened Arceus-N, as well as newcomers such as Non-Geomancy Xerneas and Bulky SD Mega Scizor. Its also still very versatile, with multiple sets ranging from Choice Scarf, to Expert Belt, to Shift Gear. Overall I still Genesect will be a threat, but not a major one like it was last Gen.
