Moves
=======
Rock Slide allows Greninja to revenge kill dangerous offensive sweepers such as Volcarona and Gyarados. U-turn is a great move to gain momentum on the Pokemon that Greninja naturally threatens, such as Landorus-T and Heatran. Ice Beam OHKOes Zygarde, Landorus-T, and Salamence and hits Zapdos harder than any other move on the set. Gunk Shot is preferred in the last slot to hit Tangrowth, as well as OHKOing Tapu Bulu, Tapu Koko, and Tapu Lele and 2HKOing Tapu Fini. Another option is Low Kick, which OHKOes both regular and Mega Tyranitar, as well as netting coverage against Bisharp, Terrakion, and Magnezone. Spikes is also an option, as Greninja's high Speed usually allows it to get up a layer of Spikes in most games. Hydro Pump is an alternate option that gets boosted by rain, is Greninja's strongest viable option against Shift Gear Magearna, and has decent neutral coverage.
Set Details
========
Maximum Attack and Speed investment allows Greninja to hit as hard and as fast as possible. Naive is the chosen nature to make it as fast as possible and is chosen over Hasty because Greninja wants to take priority moves as easily as possible while maximizing Ice Beam's damage output. Protean gives Greninja STAB on every move that it uses and makes it an effective revenge killer.
Usage Tips
========
Hard switching Greninja into attacks is not recommended, as it's very frail and gets worn down easily from entry hazards. Choice Scarf Greninja is best used as a revenge killer of boosting Pokemon such as Volcarona, Gyarados, and Zygarde. While Greninja can't actually switch into any boosting Pokemon, it can revenge kill them with the appropriate coverage move. U-turn is often a solid move to use against the Pokemon that it naturally forces out, such as Landorus-T and Heatran, so use it often to gain momentum. Use Gunk Shot and Ice Beam on targets such as Tangrowth and Zapdos, which usually check Greninja, that might be lured in; if running it, use Low Kick against Pokemon such as Tyranitar and Bisharp.
Team Options
========
This Greninja set can't do much to walls such as Chansey and Skamory; as such, strong wallbreakers that can advantage of the momentum and free switches that U-turn provides, such as Swords Dance Landorus-T, Mega Pinsir, Mega Medicham, and Hoopa-U, make for good teammates. Pokemon such as Tapu Bulu and Ferrothorn that appreciate Greninja's ability to revenge kill setup sweepers also make for good teammates, as they're setup bait for Volcarona and, to a lesser extent, Supersonic Skystrike Gyarados. Choice Scarf Greninja also appreciates defensive Pokemon that can make up for its lackluster defenses, so Pokemon such as Assault Vest Tangrowth, Landorus-T, and Latios also make for good teammates.
