How come most Youtube Wifi battles suck so much strategy-wise?

Most of those teams and moves used aren't really that great, yet they continue to be made and watched by people who think the people battling are good, when they really aren't that great.

Sometimes, I want to see action happening, and the text in the warstories on these boards often isn't enough, even though the majority of the time the Warstories on these boards are often much better strategy-wise. Not to mention most of the videos of are of them winning, and most of those wins are against opponents who really aren't that great.

Is there anyone on Smogon that can teach those terrible battlers a thing about competitive Pokemon? Is there any relatively good (and I mean actually GOOD) battler on Smogon that does make these vids?

Because the people who own webcams either (A) are Youtube idiot kiddies who don't know squat about competitive battling, or (B) too busy working at their jobs that afford luxuries like webcams to film themselves having Pokémon battles.

Long story short, most fights are on Shoddy, so it's easiest to simply Control-C/Control-V the log into the post form.

Lastly, Wifi battles take FOREVER unless you speed up the video. Your final option is using a video capture card to record PBR battles which are faster and more interesting, but that places you in my initial column B 9 times out of 10.

I think that about sums it up.

I enjoy Syberia's videos as he usually dominates whoever he plays and explains the reasoning behind each move he makes.

Thanks :)

I wouldn't say "dominates," as we both know with any pokemon match, there's a fair bit of luck involved. I'm not going to say I never get any of it.

That being said, recently I've been moving more towards the UU end of the spectrum. They're generally more interesting, especially because that's a metagame that hasn't been explored very much. More YouTubers should start playing it.

i like lyfsaho especially the commentary. he's a smogoner too and a pretty good battler with good knowledge. zeldamastertimmy2 and mtgxerxes are the other battlers i subscribe to and i think they're decent.

Lyfsaho's pretty good, he's the only person I've ever had a 2 and a half hour battle with. Shame I wasn't recording that one, but I'm sure none of you would be willing to sit through that anyhow.

Xerxes seems to be popular, but a lot of his battles seem to be of the "throw six pokemon together that kind of work and see what happens" variety. Then he's got the roulettes, which are always fun.

Well, it's not just about having a good knowledge of the metagame.

It's also whether the games they record are actually exciting and if they're against COMPETENT OPPONENTS. Otherwise it's gets kind of boring.

And generally, I don't care much for commentary. I'd rather have good rock music with a GOOD BATTLE. If I wanted commentary, I'd read a Warstory.

Thanks Carl, I have never seen any of his battles before you posted the link, looked at one, and fell in love. I like battles with commentary plus he does have a solid team.

Sometimes that's how they work out. We plan on doing such a youtube video only for it to end up being lopsided which was not the intention to begin with. 2 of my videos were of such and perhaps they could serve as a lesson on how the opposing team could have changed their fate to begin with which should appear obvious actually:

Match #1 (sash-houndoom): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9hrWncgT4K0
Match #2 (weavile's hax) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OuP0oPopAjA

Xerxes is the best battler I've found on YouTube after extensive searching.

Yikarur could definitely put up a fight and perhaps win, I'm not sure (he doesn't play anymore). beware: animation savvy pokepeeps only, he's German.

This guy is easily one of the best guys on Youtube in my opinion. If the little preview picture shows something like Tyranitar, I don't bother watching it.

He's also a pretty good player, likes to have his battles with the other guy.

And finally, this guy:

He's a good battler, knows what hes doing.

Syberia's battles also pwn. I'm subscribed to Dangerous, and like his battles.

I enjoy watching a lot of the Japanese PBR players with their gimmick UU sets.

Sometimes it gets hectic when their main force gets shot down pretty quickly, but then when they have a winning video it's neat to contemplate wanting to make a Perish Song Wigglytuff with Wobbuffet switch-in too. XD

As said before, Xerxes is one of the best battlers on Youtube, and has very good narration. Lyfsaho is already stated, he does a good number of UU battles and narrates some of them.

Some other good ones are:

http://youtube.com/user/zeldamastertimmy2
Narrates every time, has a huge backlog of videos

http://youtube.com/user/theshadowprojekt
Narrates every time, is hilarious in his hate for garchomps

http://youtube.com/user/ZeusDominatesAll

Very good battler, when he narrates is one of the funniest people on youtube

He just started doing youtube battles, but is pretty good (even though he doesn't face very good opponents) Also, he has a full playthrough of Earthbound and is starting a playthrough of Mother 1.

Yes, i know i spend too much time on youtube

I like Youtube battles for one of the same reasons I prefer WiFi over Shoddy: the visual flare. I subscribe to Syberia, and he does a good job of explaining his moves and showing the battle, so it's a nice blend of warstory and WiFi. I wish he posted more videos, though. :P Xerxes generally knows what he's doing, but I guess I can agree with this:

I'd rather watch strategy-heavy games with teams that took time to construct. I guess I do a lot of these kinds of battles with friends, though. But Xerxes does consistently pump out videos, and he always narrates, so I think he's pretty good. He seems to complain about hax a bit too much, and has a weird idea of probability, which sort of annoys me. Bentendo13 has some good battles, but I wish he would narrate more often, that really adds to the video.

I do like when a player might just throw things together at first, but then go through a process of eliminating duds and trying other things over time. After they've made a bunch of videos, it's fun to see the trial and error progress all at once.

I'm still in the learning process on competitive play, so it's interesting to me to see teams developed from the inside out instead of just the "RMT I never played with before" sort of stuff.

PabloMeza has some great YouTube Battles. No commentary, but they're good and fun to watch. I have a YouTube Channel myself, but the battles are extremely old and most before I even began serious competitive battling.

Because most battles do, and it's just statistics that most of the ones being filmed will suck too.

>_>
