ORAS LC Lets Ruin Some Lives

Hey there, and thanks for reading my RMT. I won't waste too much time, so I'll get into it. I built quite a few teams, and after reading hype messages and the possible suspect tests for Diglett due to it's ability to form and wreck cores alongside WispCycle Floon, I wanted to build one of those. After the aforementioned two pokemon, I decided to add on SD Mienfoo, because of how uncommon they are and how hard they hit. Here's the whole team.

Oh yeah, and the team name was thought up when I tried to get a friend into LC, and told him that a better made version of this team could 'ruin lives on the ladder'.

Drifloon @ Berry Juice
Ability: Unburden
Level: 5
EVs: 36 Atk / 244 SpD / 196 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Substitute
- Will-O-Wisp
- Recycle
- Acrobatics

A very powerful pokemon in the current metagame, hyped up by it's use and success in the SPL cool kids club and mad0ka's ravings about it in the Viability Rankings. Substitute eases prediction versus set up sweepers etc, and dodges hits from Volt Switches by things like Chinchou. Not only that, but is also can be used to manually activate Berry Juice and thus Unburden and a more powerful Acrobatics. Will-O-Wisp cuts the attack of physical hitters like the oh so common Mienfoo and Pawnjard, and cripples defensive mons just as much. Acrobatics increases in power after Drifloon heals and gets the speed boost. This allows it to finish off weakened mons with little risk, hitting 32 speed, faster than every scarfed pokemon in the metagame. Sub+Wisp+Recycle allows it to stall out a large majority of attacks and defensive pokemon alike. This allows it to outstall and beat a large slew of pokemon 1v1. Combined with Diglett's trapping, Drifloon can act either as a late game cleaner or as a blanket counterplay, removing many of Mienfoo's checks and counters. The SpD is to take special hits, which it can't weaken, much easier. 196+ speed allows it to hit a very respectable 16 speed pre-unburden.

Mienfoo @ Eviolite
Ability: Regenerator
Level: 5
EVs: 236 Atk / 36 Def / 236 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Drain Punch
- Knock Off
- Poison Jab

SD Mienfoo is a great set up sweeper that can cleans out the tier if given the chance. I have given Mienfoo optimal bulk with Eviolite and Regenerator so it can perform as a fast pivot throughout the match, meaning that Mienfoo can always pull it's weight. Swords Dance is self explanatory. Drain Punch is because with the +2 boost, it can 2HKO everything that doesn't resist it whilst keeping Mienfoo healthy. I might change it for HJK for the power boost though since it doesn't have LO. Knock Off is great utility that supports both itself and it's team by weakening it's own checks. Poison Jab it to nab the 2HKO on Spritzee and Snubbull at +2/+1 respectively.

Diglett @ Focus Sash
Ability: Arena Trap
Level: 5
EVs: 36 HP / 236 Atk / 236 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Memento
- Rock Slide
- Sucker Punch

The possibly suspected Diglett is here to catch Poison Types mainly, as well as revenge kill Abra. Sash is so it wins the 1v1 versus Pawniard and other misc steel types, which helps Drifloon. It also beats non-scarf Cranidos which is also great for Drif. Momento provides plenty of situations for Mienfoo to set up SD. Rock Slide and Sucker Punch are just coverage and priority to deal with switches and to be not awful versus offensive archen.

Ferroseed @ Eviolite
Ability: Iron Barbs
Level: 5
EVs: 4 HP / 36 Atk / 188 Def / 228 SpD / 36 Spe
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Toxic
- Leech Seed
- Bullet Seed

Ferroseed provides the obvious Stealth Rock support. With Abra, Mienfoo and Drifloon constantly forcing switches SR lays down good damage. Since my team is super fast anyway, there wasn't much need for T-Wave, and as such I decided to try and help outstall like defensive things Drilbur and Hippo with Toxic. Leech Seed for passive recovery and Bullet Seed deals decent damage and breaks through subs and sashes.

Abra @ Life Orb
Ability: Magic Guard
Level: 5
EVs: 236 SpA / 76 SpD / 196 Spe
Timid Nature
- Substitute
- Psychic
- Dazzling Gleam
- Shadow Ball

Abra's insane power and great speed tier makes it a great blanket check to anything slower than it.It's so splashable, so I splashed it. Substitute eases prediction versus Pawnjard and non-scarfed pursuit trappers, and helps versus sleep and twave users. Psychic helps deal with Croagunk, provides a pocket counter to Mienfoo and 2HKOs drilbur. Abra's also my main way of dealing with Foongus. Dazzling Gleam and Shadow Ball are much needed coverage. I hate facing versus other abra though because they all run sash ;~;.

Snubbull @ Berry Juice
Ability: Intimidate
Level: 5
EVs: 36 HP / 196 Atk / 36 Def / 196 SpD / 36 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Heal Bell
- Play Rough
- Fire Punch
- Thief

My main fighting counter, knock off absorber and pseudo cleric. Many of my team members hates being burnt, and hate being hit my knock off. Snubb provides a counter to both and as a reliable Mienfoo switch in, barring poison Jab, which doesn't 2HKO at -1 defensive mien. Play Rough dents stuff regardless and fairy coverage is always nice. Fire Punch is for my inability to get past Ferroseed, since they often like to use snubbull for a free spikes or SR. I love using Thief, as not only does my BJ heal me, but I can steal me something even better.

~~~~~~~~~~~Threats ~~~~~~~~~~~
I have no pocket Pawniard counter, meaning if Mienfoo falls that's game, and nothing can reliably switch into Knock Off + Iron Head.
I have no stop to Baton Pass other than Drifloon being able to outstall certain pass receivers with Unburden.
I can do little in the face of CM/Heal Bell Spritzee, being able to outstall Floon and avoiding the 2HKO from full versus Digg. Ferro helps a bit and knocking of eviolite fixes this somewhat.
Okay that's it. Thanks for reading and any suggests will be greatly appreciated!
Hey Fresher Than You,
Good work on the team! I don't see it being horribly weak to Pawniard given how you have two lures in Drifloon and Abra and a check in Mienfoo.
What does seem like it could be a hassle is Flame Charge Ponyta - nothing can switch in, it's really annoying for Drifloon/Mienfoo/Ferroseed/Snubbull, and it can get around Diglett. One option would be to use Munchlax in the place of Diglett. RestTalk Munchlax would still be able to trap Abra with Pursuit, but can additionally hard wall Ponyta and most Poison-types, including Foongus, which is the main one that Mienfoo is likely to have trouble breaking through; it can also PP stall opposing Drifloon. In addition, RestTalk Munchlax doesn't really mind Sticky Webs, which already annoys Mienfoo and Abra so you don't want to be crippled by it further. Although it saps momentum, Sash Diglett does so as well.
Munchlax @ Eviolite
Level: 5
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 76 HP / 76 Atk / 116 Def / 236 SpD
Impish Nature
- Body Slam / Return
- Pursuit
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
The given EV spread lets Munchlax usually avoid the 3HKO from Skrelp's Sludge Wave to gradually wear it down, and the OHKO from 18 Attack Mienfoo's High Jump Kick from full health. Rest and Sleep Talk means that it's not horribly crippled by Ponyta's burns.
Alternatively, you could run Rock Tomb + Final Gambit over Rock Slide/Sucker Punch on Sash Diglett to usually be able to trap +1 Ponyta, but this requires you to sack something that has been weakened. In this case, you should move Mienfoo's Def EVs to SpD so you're less weak to Download Porygon.
19 vs 18 Def doesn't make much of a difference on Ferroseed. An EV spread of 84 HP / 36 Atk / 108 Def / 228 SpD / 36 Spe with an Impish nature will generally let Ferroseed last longer. In addition, Toxic is generally not viable in LC unless you have no other way to break through CM Spritzee because its damage rolls round down, but in this case, you have Mienfoo as a lure, Ferroseed to wall it, and Drifloon to burn it, so you're not weak to CM Spritzee at all. Bullet Seed already does a hefty amount to the Ground-types you listed. As such, I recommend running Knock Off or Iron Head instead; either would still let you beat CM Spritzee in conjunction with Leech Seed, and are more useful in most scenarios.
Running 14 Def on Snubbull is generally preferred so that a combination of Mienfoo's U-turn + LO Diglett's Earthquake doesn't KO after Stealth Rock. In this case, since you don't need 11 Speed, an EV spread of 36 HP / 36 Atk / 196 Def / 196 SpD / 36 Spe would be ideal.
That's all I have for now. Good luck, and stick around in LC!
Thanks for the reply! I really appreciate it!
I'll try out Munchlax in place of Diglett. I didn't initially see the problem against Ponyta because the few games I had against it I managed to play around it, but I can see where the problem lies. Thanks for pointing that out for me!
I replaced Toxic a while ago, I just forgot to update the OP with it. I'll do the EV spread now though, same on Snubbull. Thanks the advice!
