And on the topic of some HO mons...
Suicide Lead
Ribombee @ Focus Sash
Ability: Shield Dust
Tera Type: Ghost / Ground
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Sticky Web
- Quiver Dance
- Moonblast
- Stun Spore / Skill Swap / Tera Blast
Ribombee is far and away the best Sticky Web setter in the game as of DLC1's release. It's faster than Meowscarada and is outsped only by Weavile, Zamazenta, and Dragapult as far as mons on the OU Viability List go. Unlike most other Webs setters, it also isn't passive whatsoever thanks to its good SpA alongside Quiver Dance and Moonblast, ensuring that it can still leave a massive dent when hitting threats like Ting-Lu or Gliscor. The final moveslot is a bit more flexible; Stun Spore allows Ribombee to further support its teammates by crippling a fast offensive threat (if it hits), leaving another nasty parting gift after it sets up Webs and faints. Skill Swap lets Ribombee set up Sticky Web against Magic Bounce Hatterene, which otherwise gives the playstyle a lot of trouble. Lastly, Tera Blast alongside Tera Ground allows Ribombee to muscle past Fire-types like Cinderace, Heatran, and Iron Moth. Cinderace in particular is a crucial target, as it can otherwise use Court Change to turn Ribombee's Webs against its own team. Otherwise, though, Ribombee should run Tera Ghost to effectively spinblock, ensuring its Sticky Web isn't cleared by Great Tusk's Rapid Spin and that it doesn't get outsped by Great Tusk the following turn as a result.
Teammates like Swords Dance Hisuian Samurott, Blood Moon Ursaluna, Swords Dance Ogerpon-Wellspring, Tail Glow Manaphy, Kingambit, Bulk Up Great Tusk, Ceruledge, Nasty Plot Gholdengo, and more can utilize Ribombee's Sticky Web to outpace crucial threats, making them extremely powerful against opposing offensive teams that would utilize many threats that could outspeed them. Dragapult lacking Clear Body or Heavy-Duty Boots is
especially vulnerable to Sticky Web teams, as the hazard completely neutralizes its otherwise-unmatched Speed stat.
Aurora Veil
Ninetales-Alola @ Light Clay
Ability: Snow Warning
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature

- Aurora Veil
- Freeze-Dry
- Moonblast
- Encore
Alolan Ninetales uses its high Speed stat alongside the amazing Snow Warning+Aurora Veil to become an incredible Dual Screens setter, and with Gen 9's removal of Hail in favor of the far superior Snow it can take physical attacks incredibly well even before it sets up Aurora Veil. Freeze-Dry hits Water-types like Walking Wake, Dondozo Ogerpon-Wellspring, Azumarill, and Manaphy super effectively while dealing with Ground-types like Gliscor, Blood Moon Ursaluna, and Landorus-T. Moonblast hits Dragapult and Great Tusk harder than Freeze-Dry and hits Zamazenta and Iron Valiant super effectively. Encore makes Alolan Ninetales even more powerful as an Aurora Veil setter, ensuring that it can punish opposing attempts to set up hazards or boost in front of it by giving a teammate an opportunity to switch in safely and set up behind its Aurora Veil. Tera Water allows Alolan Ninetales to shed its massive weakness to Steel-type attacks like Kingambit's Iron Head and Gholdengo's Make It Rain in favor of gaining a resistance.
All sorts of setup sweepers benefit from Aurora Veil's support, and many of them like what Alolan Ninetales in particular provides since Encore gives them even more opportunities to come in, set up, and sweep. Among these setup sweepers includes Kingambit, Swords Dance+Scale Shot Garchomp, Clangorous Soul and Belly Drum variants of Kommo-o, Calm Mind Cresselia and Blood Moon Ursaluna, Tail Glow and Take Heart variants of Manaphy, Dragon Dance users like Dragonite, Dragapult, and Roaring Moon, Nasty Plot Moltres-Galar, Shell Smash Torterra, Belly Drum Azumarill, numerous Booster Energy Iron Valiant sets, Swords Dance Sneasler, and more. Quiver Dance Frosmoth is an especially potent teammate, as thanks to Ice Scales boosting its Special Defense, Snow boosting its Defense, Aurora Veil boosting both its defenses even further, and its ability to shed its poor defensive typing in favor of Tera Ground it can set up one Quiver Dance very easily with the potential of setting up two or even three and decimating opposing teams thereafter.
