NOC Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Mafia - Explorers - Game Thread (Game Over!)

I am heading to bed soon but congrats again to town and commiserations to the mafia. This was a much closer game than it might appear, considering town came very close to hammering JALMONT, but his clutch dayvig managed to swing momentum back in town's favour and it was tough for the mafia to recover after that (although there were a couple more near misses!)

Hosting NOC again was fun and the regrets I have about the setup are pretty tiny in the grand scheme of things, so yeah. Thanks for playing, hope it was fun!

I'll try and post something more substantial tomorrow, at least wrt the setup.

thanks again for hosting! i had great fun and overall i thought it was pretty fair and/or balanced etc, the activity from everyone obviously helped things

ty everyone for activity

Clouds I wanna apologize for being sus of you, I remember reading itt that you are good at pocketing people and well, you are a good player so I was kinda paranoid that you were pocketing me lol

Is this the first town win in a while btw?

this was a great game maybe one of the best in the past year or so ((and i'm not saying that just because town finally won) thx to sb for hosting and everyone for playing. always cool to have a game that's active but also not just a complete stomp one way or the other

i am pretty pleased with how i played overall having made two critical decisions correctly with the dayvig and then the laurel vote. forcing me to shoot fast backfired as otherwise i was going to let people democratically choose who to shoot which likely would've been not alice. and then i think killing me off when they did was bad for the mafia since i was definitely more suspicious of ppl like flanders and neon and i was a pretty strong town read on joey. that said i never really believe HH was scum so i guess it didn't really matter regardless (especially when mafia needed more than just 1 flanders mislynch to really be in a winning position). sorry to pulsar for getting her killed but at least it was worth it in the end!

i thought this game was pretty close although i would concede that town was mostly in good shape even if it never felt like it. we did manage to form a fairly solid town consensus that was hard for the mafia to dismantle and then we had just enough disparate opinions that helped us end up on mafia players for the last 4 days. on the whole town was probably luckier. eg dusk being cleared bulletproof, saber with a godlike protect on bluedoom that looks like a gamewinning play in hindsight.

dusk/bluedoom/saber were town mvps, i thought the mafia in general were pretty good shoutouts to joey in particular who i think could've done a little more infiltration with some more posting. had a couple lvps too but the joy of winning has me in a good mood :toast:

setup was very creative and interesting. role madness is hard to run and impossible to balance so all you can ask for is something playable. this cleared that bar and then some so two thumbs up from me.

thx again all. think i'm retiring from mafia on a high now. be back in an another year or so

I COULD BE BANNED!

goat dont goooooo, what did saber do?

My thoughts on the game are it was fun; the setup was fun and hard to rolespec, which is good. There were many points where I felt like town was divided when it really shouldn't have been, and lots of tinfoiling and paranoia prevented us from decisive, accurate lynches throughout the game. That probably explains why there's a lot of deadline panic, definitely different from what I'm used to. The homesite that charlie and I played at really didn't really have anything like this so it was harder for me to get used to a setting like that, we're usually used to stable lynches without deadline panic. I think my reads in the game were mostly spot on; the only ones that I was wrong about were Alice and af. But I really struggled in trying to push for lynches here, probably because of the lack of my deadline presence. Its just very difficult for me to get up at 4 am my time to play, and even if I did it would be very inconsistent and look weird that I can make it do dl on some days and not others lol. I think looking at my play there's the consistent indecisiveness and being influenced by other people's arguments too easily, mostly out of paranoia that I may tunnel. Something I need to work on.

The scum team played fine but suffered from the lack of influential/talkative players, to deepwolf you need to have an active thread presence which usually means also trying to control thread narrative. Celever was right that joey/Alice were wincons for the scum team and once Alice was shot it became very difficult. I think if the plan for joey was to be a deepwolf he probably should've been the busser instead of laurel, and he'd need a bigger thread presence where he causes paranoia within the town core. I digress, it was still an interesting game and the fact that most phases it never felt like we were curbstomping should show how close the gameplay was between both sides.

JALMONT M2H Duskfall98 best towncore buddies, really pulled through here. genisu sorry that I couldn't be on to defend you harder, but be happy that you were a key lynch that brought all the mafia under scrutiny lmao. saberslasher11 thanks for the based save and HydrogenHydreigon thanks for the endgame vote, and sorry forr suspecting you.

And finally, to anyone who I got angry at, my sincere apologies. The stress and paranoia of losing kinda got to me and I vented it out a bit, but I do realise that its hard to be on the receiving end of it. Idt I went overboard with it but in any case, sorry!
