UU Simple Questions Thread

Is the Crawdaunt retest because of its performance in the Borderline Tournament or something, or are we starting retests for a lot of BL things??

The main goal of this tournament is to entertain the playerbase. This is not to decide the next suspect and absolutely nothing is guaranteed to happen after this ends. But note that I will not be against people using their experience in this tournament to support their requests for retests; I take that over "free victini / staraptor" posts any day.
So yes and no. The tier leaders are paying attention to the BL tournament and that's probably where the impetus for the Crawdaunt retest comes from, but they are not actively looking for retest suspects.

How viable are sun teams in UU? (Offence, stall, etc.) what about top threats for those?
the viability of sun teams are, in general, rather low, but it can be done. In general, you'll want to range the Pokemon that you use. The recent addition of Venusaur might give you an interesting toy to play with.

There are a few viable abusers such as Venusaur and m-Houndoom. In most cases though you are probably better off using them as standalone or paired sun sweepers instead of dedicated your entire team to the archetype, kind of like offensive trick room reuniclus / hoopa function. The rest of your team is better spent supporting them and covering shared weaknesses.

But when there's a will there is most definitely a way. It may not be the top competitive team, but you can still do well with the archetype if you put in some thought.

What's the best way to counter the majority of fire types? My team is pretty solid, but gets destroyed to basically any fire type, especially, Specs Chandellure and Emboar.

Suicune does a great job handling Physical Fire types, though stuff like Chandelure tends to carry Energy Ball and special mons in general pressure it pretty hard unless it has a couple of cm boosts.

Swampert does really well too.

IIRC its main niche is SD LO to dominate more defensive team with its incredible attack stat + Mold Breaker. DD is almost entirely outclassed by Mence since its revenge killed by Scarf Dragons and has harder time setting up.

Could a Dual Dance with DD and SD work so you can use DD against more offensive teams and SD against fat teams while having Dragon STAB + coverage (EQ basically)?

Yes and no. You essentially lose coverage against either stuff like Whimsicott (Outrage/Claw + EQ) or steels (Outrage + Pjab).

That being said, DD Lum Berry isn't bad at all, though mence does mostly outclass.

im a be completely honest not bringing no shade but yall got me fucked up a set vialbility rankings is an amaziing idea and should be done to show players wat set they should be running in most sitautions yall suppose to do wats best for the communtiy and being lazy aint it

The issue with ranking individual sets' viability is that it's a) very subjective, b) constantly changing, and c) heavily dependent on teammates.
Easy example here is Suicune; a lot of players swear by Roar+CM+Rest while others can't stand to run Rest without Sleep Talk. And even if you settle on RestTalk, CM and Roar both have different uses on different teams (RestTalk CM is great as a primary win condition, but on a team that already features CM Florges or Reuniclus, RestTalk Roar is probably preferable for more utility).
A set viability ranking is neat in theory but in practice is mostly semantics or anecdotal evidence unless one set is clearly inferior to another (in which case nobody is using the clearly inferior set anyway).

Just go to the Pokemons analysis if you want to see all the viable sets. Read usage tips and team options to see how to use the set. There's no point in ranking the sets since that's way too subjective: is scarf mence more "viable" than fat mence? There's no way to argue this since they are not at all comparable and play entirely differently.
