With Choice Specs equipped, Zapdos's already amazing Special Attack is boosted to even greater heights, turning it into an incredible wallbreaker. Its Flying typing also grants an invaluable Ground immunity for Electric teams. Hurricane is Zapdos's most powerful move, threatening a variety of Pokemon that resist or are immune to Electric such as Mega Venusaur and Gastrodon. Heat Wave beats Steel-types such as Mega Scizor, Iron Treads, and Ferrothorn, thus making it an incredible asset in the Steel and Grass matchups. Hidden Power Ice cleanly OHKOes Gliscor, Landorus-T, and Garchomp; alternatively, Hidden Power Grass can be used if reliably eliminating Gastrodon and Swampert is more important. Volt Switch lets Zapdos switch out of its checks like Tyranitar and Blissey, keeping momentum in favor of Zapdos's team. As dangerous as Zapdos is, it is highly susceptible to Stealth Rock; hence, Rotom-W is a great partner that can use Defog while also helping Zapdos beat Ground-types thanks to Hydro Pump. Iron Hands and Zeraora help Zapdos wallbreak by wearing down special walls like Heatran, Blissey, and Clodsire. Regieleki and Alolan Raichu can take advantage of Zapdos weakening teams and removing Ground-types so that they can clean up with their deadly Rising Voltage later in the game.

With a Choice Specs equipped, Zapdos
's already amazing Special Attack is boosted to even greater heights, turning it into an incredible wallbreaker. (keep in mind zap can run defensive sets effectively as well, so specsdos isn't a must for every Electric team) This immediate offense coupled with its excellent typing giving it many opportunities to switch in and wreak havoc makes Zapdos a key offensive piece for any Electric team. Its Flying typing also grants an invaluable Ground immunity for Electric teams. Hurricane is extremely spammable especially with its chance to confuse hitting many dangerous threats such as Kommo-o, Iron Valiant and Great Tusk super effectively. is Zapdos's most powerful move, threatening a variety of Pokemon that resist or are immune to Electric such as Mega Venusaur and Gastrodon. (It's the obvious STAB, but I think both of us thought it could be described; I think what makes specsdos so effective is how well it is able to threaten mons that annoy Electric) Heat Wave is amazing coverage as it lets it nuke lets Zapdos beat the Steel-types that are able to shrug off Hurricane, such as Iron Treads and Ferrothorn, thus making it an incredible asset in the Steel matchup. On the third slot, Hidden Power Ice lets it Zapdos safely check cleanly OHKO Landorus Gliscor, Landorus-Therian, and Garchomp; meanwhile alternatively, Hidden Power Grass can be used to have an easier time versus Swampert-Mega and Diancie-Mega. if reliably eliminating Gastrodon and Swampert is more important. Volt Switch lets it deal good STAB damage while also being able to Zapdos switch out of its checks like Tyranitar and Blissey, keeping momentum in favor of the team. All these offensive qualities are coupled with its amazing Ground-type immunity which is highly valuable for Electric teams. As dangerous as Zapdos is, it is highly susceptible to entry hazards Stealth Rock, hence Rotom-W is a great partner which can Defog them it away while also beating helping Zapdos beat Ground-types thanks to its Hydro Pump. if Zapdos foregoes Hidden Power Ice. Iron Hands beats helps Zapdos wallbreak by wearing down special walls like Heatran, Iron Treads and Clodsire. Regieleki and Raichu-Alola can take advantage of Zapdos weakening teams and removing Ground-types so that they can clean up with their deadly Rising Voltage later in the game.
