Fighting/Flying
Momentum (Staraptor) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Tough Claws
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Brave Bird
- Close Combat
- Pursuit
- U-turn

Flying mono's always lacked flying STAB attack, and physical flying STAB even more, the only other users being BB skarmory or the rare hawlucha.

Staraptor always seemed like a flying/fighting type to me, and taking a look at it's moveset shows so as well, it learns a good amount of fighting moves, the main one being CC. So i gave it a flying type.

As for the ability, Staraptor is known to use it's claws a lot for fighting, as can be seen by the gif posted above. Also reckless just wasnt as useful anymore since STAB Double Edge wasnt a thing anymore. With tough claws, staraptor gets a boost to all of it's moves.

Anyways, Staraptor's role would now be to gain the team a lot of momentum or take out threats/walls that flying has trouble with. With the powerful STAB attacks, and with u-turn and pursuit, staraptor can take out many threats or gain the team a lot of momentum.

some calcs:

252 Atk Tough Claws Staraptor Close Combat vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Skarmory: 136-162 (40.7 - 48.5%) -- 67.2% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock

252 Atk Tough Claws Staraptor Brave Bird vs. 252 HP / 232+ Def Slowbro: 165-195 (41.8 - 49.4%) -- 24.6% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

Cycle 12: Grass

The type for this cycle of Monotype Theorymon is Grass! Very interesting Grass-types in C Rank and below that could become a lot more viable with your guys's creativity, so looking forward to some great ideas. Check out the Monotype Viability Rankings to get a clue of what Pokemon you should submit your ideas for.
You have until Friday 12/08/2016.

Grass / Dark

Stats Boost : 90 / 100 / 50 (-10) / 110 (+20) / 50 (-10) / 111 (+31)

Shiftry @ Focus Sash / Life Orb / Expert Belt
Ability: Competitive
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe or 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe (with Naive)
Timid Nature
- Nasty Plot
- Giga Drain / Energy Ball
- Dark Pulse
- Extrasensory / Focus Blast / Icy Wind / Rock Slide / Sucker Punch

This set bring all grass needs and lacks actually, a fast sweeper / late game cleaner, a setup attacker and a good offensive coverage. Thanks to awesome type, stats and movepool, Shiftry is one of the best sweepers in the game. Competitive makes it a big thread to all defoggers, coupled to Spikes Ferrothorn. Grass + Dark is absolutely good + filler and criples everything at +2. Filler move depends on what you want to hit, Extrasensory for Fighting, Focus Blast for Heatran and Steels, Icy Wind for Dragons and Garchomp, Rock Slide beats Fire and Zard-Y and Sucker Punch if you want a priority.

Grass / Fire

Bellossom @ Life Orb
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SpA / 8 SpD
Modest Nature
IVs: 1 Atk / 30 SpA / 30 SpD
- Flamethrower
- Giga Drain
- Moonblast / Moonlight
- Hidden Power [Ground] / Hidden Power [Rock]

As you can see, I got the inspiration for Fire type Bellossom from the fire flower from mario, they have the same color schemes so I thought it fit well.
Bellossom with Fire typing, Flash Fire Ability and access to Flamethrower gives grass an edge vs steel, psychic, bug, flying and possibly fire?
Honestly it's time for HP Fire to STOP on grass monos, it sucks that it has to be used because grass has little ways to beat steel types.
With Flash Fire Bellossom, Victini and Char-Y and Heatran have to think before spamming fire moves recklessly. Paired with a hidden power, Bellossom can cause some damage.
Bellossom helps the matchup tremendously vs steel and bug, flamethower 1hkos every mon on steel bar spdef heatran, and with hp rock and flashfire, bellossom can face volcarona.

252+ SpA Life Orb Bellossom Hidden Power Ground vs. 252 HP / 188+ SpD Heatran: 213-255 (55.1 - 66%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ SpA Life Orb Bellossom Hidden Power Ground vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Victini: 146-174 (42.8 - 51%) -- 3.1% chance to 2HKO
+1 252+ SpA Life Orb Bellossom Flamethrower vs. 248 HP / 148+ SpD Zapdos: 208-246 (54.3 - 64.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
^zapdos/chary using heatwave/fireblast to get flashfire to activate

252+ Atk Technician Mega Scizor Bullet Punch vs. 248 HP / 0 Def Bellossom: 63-74 (17.8 - 20.9%) -- possible 5HKO
252 SpA Heatran Earth Power vs. 248 HP / 8 SpD Bellossom: 98-116 (27.7 - 32.8%) -- guaranteed 4HKO

Grass / Water

Tangrowth @ Assault Vest
EVs: 252 SpA / 240 HP / 16 SpD
Ability: Regenerator
Modest Nature
- Scald
- Knock Off / Giga Drain
- Leaf Storm
- HP Fire / Earthquake

Water/Grass is an underestimimated defensive typing and is only seen on Ludicolo. But with Grass / Water, it can tackle fire types, trample even more over Water and face off against Ice. Scald is the sealing deal and allows it to be even more of the pain to beat.

Shaymin @ Life Orb
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 30 SpA / 30 Spe
- Nasty Plot
- Spore
- Seed Flare
- Hidden Power [Fire] / Earth Power

Yeah, I know this is a lot. Regenerator is better recovery than synthesis imo, and it lets shaymin come in to threaten opposing pokemon many more times, thanks to its decent bulk + regenerator. A fast spore user helps grass out a ton, because breloom is still semi slow and amoonguss is....amoonguss, and allows shay to setup. nasty plot + seed flare makes it a scary wallbreaker. Fourth Slot is basically whatever your team happens to be weaker too.
