Prom discussion

So, on Monday a senior girl who I've known for a while asked me out to our high school's prom, so yeah, that's basically why I decided to make this thread.

So, here you'll be able to talk about your prom experience, your future plans for attending prom, how fucking expensive prom is (it's true), or whatever. If it has something to do with prom, feel free to discuss.

My school doesn't have one, not allowed to have one.

So because we're badasses, we're making our own. Against the schools wishes. YOLO
Also CONGRATS :)

The other day I got a girls number. I was gonna make a thread, but then I realized it was her brothers.

Man, I wish I were as badass as you.
Also, thanks!
Maybe with a lot of effort, one day, you can be!
We actually have a Senior Dinner "". Which is full of teachers, no dancing, no music. Its just a dinner, and girls and boys aren't allowed to touch! Still fun though :)

Prom is a waste of money and is overrated beyond belief. That's really all there is to say
Yeah I never understood how people could shell out however much for a dress, shoes, professional hair and makeup, tickets (?), a limo or whatever. Its absurd :P

My school doesn't have a prom.

That is all.
HIGH FIVE. What's your school's reasoning?

That's retarded, where are you from kittenmay, if you don't mind my asking?

Also, prom may be overrated, but it's still an awesome experience that you shouldn't miss out on. Overpriced? Maybe, but that's because it's an awesome experience that you shouldn't miss out on.

My school has a prom, but I can never see the day where I go to a prom, like my family would even bother to pay for it, loooool.

My prom sucked ass, but mostly because my ghetto-ass high school had like 30 people in my graduating class lol

I did end up going out with my prom date tho :3

People said I would regret not going to prom, well I'm still waiting for the regret. I found prom to be just another dance that people overspend on to make themselves look "pretty". And of course it has another popularity contest that glorifies the already popular kids. I've just never understood the ideal of prom and why teenage girls go all crazy for it.

Also it's a dance, and I hate dances.

While I somewhat agree with this, I still think it's a good idea to go at least once, especially if you have a girlfriend.

My school had a junior/senior prom, and I went both years, the first with a girl who I asked out that night at the dance (yes it was romantic, no the relationship didn't last longer than a month) and the second with with my girlfriend of seven months (now a year and seven months). It's as much fun as any other dance (yes if you thought other dances were miserable then this one will not magically be incredible), but it's the added extravagances of prom that make it "special" and a bit more enjoyable. My prom included dinner and a sundae bar, it was located at a country club instead of the school cafeteria, and plus you just feel special in a tux! Also at my prom we had prom king/queen voting right when we entered then we found out who won towards then end of the night. My girlfriend and I won which was pretty special :)
(side note: my girlfriend and I were not considered part of the "popular" crowd consisting of jocks and stuck up pretty girls. At my school, prom was the least influenced by popularity, and I think that was due to our tradition of taking votes at the door with only prom-attendees allowed to vote, instead of the whole school like Homecoming. It could be like this at other schools but maybe it isn't, I don't know)

Anyway my advice to you is have a good time with this girl as well as your other high school friends, dance like a beast, and don't forget to wear protection if you think it will go that far! (but don't expect it to)

Wow my school is some crazy conservative charter school and we even have prom. I though have to wait a year or two before I can go. They don't allow freshmen.

I am actually kind of looking forward to it but do think it's just a big popularity contest and overhyped.

swear to god I thought this was a porn discussion

I say get off the computer and go spend time with her, you lucky guy.

And definitely go to prom. It doesn't matter how overpriced it is, it's one of the best parts of high school, and you would really regret it if you didn't. Trust me, you'll have fun.

Philip: I live in New Jersey, and I go to a private, religious, Jewish high school. Girls and boys aren't allowed to touch. We're one of the few that are co-ed.

I just kinda thought that prom was overrated? Although to be quite honest, I don't know all that much about it.

i havent gotten to prom yet as I'm only a 10th grader but i was fortunate enough to be asked by a senior. i feel like everyone that hates prom are people who cant get dates
